  • The Cavs have shot up the East standings the last month just when 2 of their top 5 players got injured. Now they are healthy and still winning but underneath the surface, something is off in Cleveland.

    The Narrative around the Cavs for the last two seasons is just honestly sickening. People need to realize it takes time to not only build an identity, but also a team capable of winning it all. Everyone is so impatient. Last year, first round exit and everyone says to blow it up? it was the FIRST YEAR with this squad, and now look what they are doing now. the league is wanting Mitchell to go to a bigger market to make more money. Mitchell has said a million times he is going to do everything he can do to win in this team and NOT stated dissapointment or desire to jump ship early. Give this team a break, you cant be a championship level team so soon after getting your #1 guy. I get what you are saying but you don’t ship out five first round picks with the logic of let’s build this chemistry for three to five years. Pretty soon you’re gonna have to start paying folks some serious bread. Like Donovan gonna opt out next season PERIOD. He’s gonna ask for the max. Cleveland can pay the max but with that comes the luxury tax. You don’t wanna be paying the tax and you not really a contender.

  • @JamilSmith
    @JamilSmith 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I say this as a native: it’s all about Cleveland. If Donovan Mitchell were playing for the Chicago Bulls or another major-market team, with the same set of teammates and financial constraints… the same media figures and executives would not be trying to ship him to the Knicks or Lakers every day. Cavaliers fans are used to it, but we’re also sick of this.
    Also, I’d argue you’re overthinking what Koby Altman said. And Donovan isn’t “past that,” as you said - he’s 27! I mean, I hope he stays, but if someone doesn’t want to take the supermax and wants to go see if he can build chemistry like this on another team, Godspeed.

    There’s everything right! Allen was missing ! Bringing in new players, added shooting and in house development is hitting! The chemistry is balancing out with the ball movement. If we add Luke Travers this run will be dark horse contender rn! Even without adding LT this season. We’re building a dynasty, Mitchell won’t walk away. By the time his contract is up they’ll be READY READY, he was chill in Utah.. not worried. Lebron can come or not, we’re not drafting Bronny, unless he starts to improve a lot. He should stay in school. Keeping Okoro, will be tricky , Zhaire Smith will be a potential replacement I think. Probable reason for his 10 day, could be for off season assessment as a back up plan. If he’s healthy and stays healthy he could be a serviceable 3&d guy with a nose for the ball as a undersized forward kinda winnable odd ball player. We got a squad. Playoffs should be a good time

    Sick of the narrative around the media Mitchell is a special guy who loves his team and has put his all in to the cavs in both his seasons so far a lot more than your favourite star would of done if they ended up in team they weren’t expecting. I would definitely keep an eye on the Cavs potentially drafting Bronny James to lure LeBron back for one more stint in Cleveland. The Cavs are under ENORMOUS pressure to win in the next two years with three first round draft picks and Lauri Markkanen being in Utah's possession for Donovan Mitchell who it is rumored will definitely walk in 2025. The Cavs are probably a top 5-6 team right now - with LeBron in the rotation, even at 40, I think they're in the championship conversation. The only risk to the Cavs is LeBron spurning Dan Gilbert and having Bronny decline the offer to play overseas or something.
    When you think about it, everyone wins in this scenario. From a purely basketball perspective, the Cavs arguably have the best, most complimentary roster for LeBron to chase down one more championship as it is. Plus, the Cavs under Bickerstaff are a defensive minded unit first. It actually compliments Bronny's game. And he'd be playing behind two of the best guards in the league. Even if Donovan Mitchell leaves at the end of his contract, if the Cavs get a championship out of his stint, it'll have been worthwhile.
    Obviously this is all moot if Bronny doesn't enter the 2024 draft.

  • @HoveringGold

    I could pick apart everything he said for like an hour, but I am gonna keep simple. This situation with Donovan Mitchell and Cleveland Cavaliers this year kind of reminds of another team's situation that had some similarities. In extreme irony, it reminds me of Lebron James in year 2 with the Miami Heat, the 2011-12 season. Coming off an embarrassing Finals loss to the Mavericks and still signs that a similar ending was coming in the 2012 playoffs, Lebron James, Coach Erik Spoelstra and the Heat made an adjustment that season. Lebron matured, become a much more team player and better leader and it resulted in him finally capturing that NBA Title he wanted. I look at Donovan Mitchell and the Cavaliers this season and see a lot of similarities. Mitchell has matured and become a team player and much better leader, the Cavaliers and Coach Bickerstaff made a great in-season adjustment and now they are rolling. Will they win the NBA Title this year? We will see, but I see a far better team with far better play then what I saw last year.

    the question here is not because Mobley and Garland is bad, it's just about fit. Mitchell is undersized guard who like to drive to the rim but unlike Anthony Edwards, he plays with 2 bigs who cant space the floor. The problem with Garland is just he took some touches from Mitchell and doesn't have good outside shooting efficiency this season. I think Mitchell, Markkanen and Mobley can do better than Mitchell, Garland and Allen.

Unless Mobley becomes a real star and redirect part of the offense through him, they will face the same issue they went through last season.
