    Can I request that you make another video as to what you found on this system. It will attract more subscribers I think if you try it out first then make the video. I think your idea potentially will work. I think that would attract a lot more subscribers. You're teaching is very clear, you're are articulate, this video is well done and you seem very sweet. I look forward to hearing how this worked for you.

    My two cents. Love the idea. The only thing I would change is that I think you need something to separate the layers otherwise the floss will tangle together and bunch up ever time you remove one hanger from the pack. Perhaps a plastic page protector between each layer? Maybe something like a piece of cardboard cut from a side of cereal box to stand up between the layers?

    • @obsessivecraftydabbler7274
      @obsessivecraftydabbler7274  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That might could work, but I haven't had an issue with it tangling. Occasionally a file next to the one I'm picking up will catch and fall down, but it's not a major issue to me. If you end up trying it, I hope the cardboard works for ya!

    Hi, great idea. I have seen on internet a storage like yours on a shop but very expensive. I think it's the best solution to take floss. I storage all my thread on DMC bobbins it's beautiful to see it but not practical. Maybe I will try to do this storage, I will see. Thank you.

      @@obsessivecraftydabbler7274 thank you. May I ask you a question ? I always cross stitch on linen. I always do 6 points for 1 cm. But in shop it tells 11ct, 14ct. Which ct corresponds if I want to conserve 6pt/cm ?

    What a brilliant idea, and you explained and filmed it so well. Thank you so much, I'm going to give it a try. Also, I'm thinking of using Ring Reinforcers on the punched holes, to strengthen and keep them from tearing. I don't know if they are called that in other parts of the world; they are little ring-shaped stickers in clear or white, that you put over punched holes or pad-paper holes to stop them from ripping with use. 😊

    • @obsessivecraftydabbler7274
      @obsessivecraftydabbler7274  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I haven't had a problem with the folders tearing so far, but the stickers would definitely be a nice addition to be sure they stay intact. :) Just be sure to get binder rings and not key rings, that I mistakenly refer to them as.

    I have over forty years accumulated every single DMC floss #/color made, including the special collections. I live two hours from town and this was pre-Amazon. They are all on those little plastic bobbins like you had, but over time, the floss does fade if the containers are in the sunlight. About ten or fifteen years ago when DMC came out with those preprinted number labels in a package, the number up to #3000 or so, overtime those stinking little sticker devils fall off! I have three plastic snap-top double-sided storage containers which both sides hold all those bobbins, so I have every DMC color ever made (and some now discontinued) in those...but now one of the three storage cases accidentally falls open so twice I have had to spend a day picking up hundreds of bobbins, then go to the store to figure out the color numbers for the little DMC pre-adhesive labels that fell off!!! I think a man thought of that idea. I wanted those labels because it all looked so neat and clean BUT IT WAS A TRAP! lol So now, after decades, I've decided I need a new system before I drop those stupid things again! I guess I'm a creature of habit.
    Questions: Does this still work for your storage? Do you suggest any changes? I counted and you made eleven holes per rod set. Do you think a person could stagger those punched holes like in a V or zigzag, and put 20 per rod set? Also, do the rings work? I have all that stuff here already and I could move it from the cases into a file cabinet which would keep it out of the sun and light. Thanks for your ideas. (Alisha)

    • @obsessivecraftydabbler7274
      @obsessivecraftydabbler7274  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I wasn't a fan of the bobbins. I am still using this as storage. I've seen someone else have a similar setup with staggered holes, but I haven't tried it. I ended up putting a few more holes in the ones I made after this video. I've been loving the setup, except for when the floss gets caught in the binder rings. It hasn't bothered me too much, though, since it's just for storage. I'm hoping to film an update video this week or the next.

      Binder rings open & close easily whereas key rings are not the best choice for this project as many of us know how tough it is to open a key ring just to place/remove 1 key...hint, use a staple remover to pry apart the ring.

    • @candicezinnick3449

      I bought those damn DMC pre-numbered stickers too, and gave them to my mother to use, because I changed my mind, & didn't want to use them (there so small!); on my Floss-away bag system. However within the last three weeks, I have overhauled her Floss-away bag system, and had to re-tape every sticker onto the inside of the bag, with some good, ole' Scotch tape, ensuring that they'll be secure and forever more labelled properly. We both use a 4" x 6" 'Ziploc' bag, available at the Dollar Store, and I've had to punch the center of every bag, above the waterlock seal, mechanically with a punch and hammer. Then they can go on a binder ring for WIP. Long term storage is in a shoe box, or plastic storage tote.

      I wish I had come up with it, but I agree it's a great idea. I tried to come up with ways to store my floss and ended up finding this method. (I linked the video I originally saw it on) Figured I'd show how I made it since I couldn't find many videos on the subject. The Annie's Keepers look awesome though, and probably don't have some of the issues this can have. 😄

    $64 for Annie's Keepers? Annie can keep it. It would cost me hundreds of dollars to convert what I have and that is just nuts! Girl, no wonder you came up with a better idea! You should hurry and apply for a patent!!! Since I have all the items you used, this will cost me nothing and in my checkbook, $0 beats $ hundreds. One thing I might do differently is instead of the round snap ring you use (which I have), I also have these little jewelry "S" snaps. They are daintier, smaller so I could fit more on the metal rod.

      I wish I could take credit for the idea, but I saw another youtuber use it and I mentioned her and linked her video. I just wanted to share my process of making it since I know I had difficulties finding videos when I was looking for ideas. I'm not sure how much this setup ended up costing me, but like you, I had some of the things already so I wanted to give it a try. I hope it will work for you if you try it out, along with the different rings. 🙂

    • @obsessivecraftydabbler7274
      @obsessivecraftydabbler7274  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm using it as storage. I've slightly changed how I use it and added a homemade floss drop to the ring and have the thread on that. When I kit up a project, I take the drops with the thread and put them together on a binder ring which I hang on my stand. I'm using 3 to 4 binder rings for my current HAED, since there's so much floss. I have shown them in some recent videos, but I've been meaning to show an update video to show how I've been liking it. Hopefully soon!

    I’m wondering how many a larger file box will hold will it hold all 500 floss - do they tangle up - is the case heavy?

    • @obsessivecraftydabbler7274
      @obsessivecraftydabbler7274  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I currently have floss in 2 larger file boxes. I think 1 would be too tight, not giving room to pull things out. I don't think it would be too heavy if it were in one, but it is light since I have them in 2. I don't have issues with tangling thread. The issue I sometimes have is thread getting caught in the binder ring hinge, but since I only use this as storage it hasn't bothered me enough to not use this method. I've been meaning to make a video with my thoughts after having used this for a while now. I'll try and do this soon and show what it looks like, as far as how much it holds.

    Please...Safety first. Please CLOSE the very sharp edge handle on this large paper cutter after each use... & use the red safety tab...NEVER LEAVE THAT HANDLE IN AN UPRIGHT PODITION, with the very sharp blade exposed!!!
    Same safety first idea when using a knife, rotary cutter (paper or fabric) and scissors!!!
    I was distracted watching you, praying that you wouldn't cut your arm of hand or finger(s) on that blade, while in the raised position! Had to rewatch the video for the content.
