    I wanted to thank you for your take on floss storage. I have been dithering for weeks about what I was going to do and I was on the verge of just throwing caution to the winds and going with the cheapest methods I could find. However, after listening to you, I realized that because I want to stitch for a long time, it would be better and probably cheaper for me to invest in a good and reliable system that will grow with me

      Hi Becky. It’s definitely been a process and a lot of trial and error to find the best system for me and the way that I like to stitch. I spent a lot of time researching the Pip and Chip system and envisioning how it could work for me before I even considered taking the leap to making a purchase. I even elected to cancel my registration for an upcoming retreat so that I could put those funds towards the purchase. I do not regret the money I invested because I am so happy with it and how perfectly it works for me. I wish you good luck in finding the storage solution that works just as well for you and the way you like to stitch. Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to leave a comment. Happy stitching and happy organizing! 😄

I’ve been considering purchasing a set of their coloured stickers for the DMC bobbins to use on my working bobbins since the DMC labels often fall off or my handwritten sharpie numbers seem to fade/smudge over time. I have the thread drop pip and chip collection, trying to decide which boxes I want to purchase. The foam I ordered fits the ikea boxes. Hoping to find a box that doesn’t require $40 in shipping.
    I also use bobbins and have bobbinated for 20+ years, was always frustrated with the domino effect when pulling from my master set.
    Your system is spectacular!

    Those look great, I’m still in the old style bobbin mode. As I buy my threads second hand I have a glorious collection of threads, mainly anchor and DMC. I don’t buy off brand. However, I’m an embroiderer and and a slow stitcher so as I don’t work from patterns the actual numbers don’t interest me. I also have Perle, soft cotton, silk, wool, metallic and rayon threads. I did enjoy your take on this. I do have a Bisley 10 drawer cabinet on wheels, perhaps the narrow foam inserts will help me. Do you think a cardboard bobbin would fit? Thank you for your video. When you purchased your Geelong did the pipnchip foams just fit in nicely? If someone was going to purchase the acrylic bobbins what is a number you suggest you used/needed?

    • @kraftnkris2999
      @kraftnkris2999  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@debb9695 the Pip and Chip foam inserts do fit nicely in the Geelong cabinet. I purchased a full set of the 3 mm, preprinted, white acrylic DMC bobbins from Pip and Chip to use for my master set. There are over 500 bobbins in that set. If you want to spread the costs out, you can buy them in sets of 24, 60 or 84 or even buy a set of the white or clear blanks and a set of their stickers to gradually build your collection with the colours that you use most. I personally just use the Pip and Chip bobbins for my master set, meaning they stay in the cabinet. For my working bobbins, the ones that end up sitting in my many works in progress, I just use the standard plastic DMC bobbins that you can buy at Michaels and just add more floss to them, whenever I run out, from the master set bobbins. I do have a second video showing how I use my system when I kit up a project if you are curious about that. Just let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks so much for watching. Kris 😄

    Thanks for sharing this. Just to make sure. Your foam is the same size as the bisley drawers / Etsy shop? Are your top 5 drawers foam same size as your bottom drawers?

    • @kraftnkris2999
      @kraftnkris2999  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kelley. Yes, the foam is the standard size that they make for the Bisley 5 drawer cabinet and the foam in the top and bottom drawers is exactly the same size. I just selected the different slot sizes in the drop down box - “3 mm” for the top drawers and “thin” for the bottom. Hope that helps. 😄

      Hi Brenda. I ordered the foam inserts designed for the Bisley cabinet with the 3 mm slits to hold Pip and Chip acrylic bobbins. You can also order the same inserts with the thin slits to fit standard DMC bobbins. I ordered those ones for my working bobbins. The dimensions of the Bisley cabinet are almost identical to the Geelong that Staples sells so the foam inserts fit great. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching. Kris 😄

      Hi Marian. I think it was just under 3 weeks? It came much faster than I thought. I was prepared for it to be 6 or 8 weeks. That first order was for the bobbins and the foam inserts for them. I ordered through their Etsy shop the first time. I ordered the drawer inserts for my working bobbins, the thin ones, at a later date, directly from their website. They came in about 2 weeks. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching. 😄

    I am rackling my brain for DMC storage 🙃🙃😵
    It makes me crazy....
    For the moment, all my DMC threads are rolling on DMC cardboard and store in drawers.
    Today I have sorted them by number instead of by color. It tooks me all the afternoon...
    But maybe I will tidy in an other way in the futur... I think that rolling on DMC cardboard they get dammage. And cardboards are not robust, they broken easily.
    I like the idea of drop but it takes place....

    • @kraftnkris2999
      @kraftnkris2999  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi There. It is always a challenge to find a system that works for you. The company that made my bobbins, Pip and Chip, also makes a thread drop system that can be stored in a standard storage bin from IKEA. I’ve seen some people use snack sized ziplock bags to store skeins of floss and they just pull lengths from the skein whenever they are working on a project. Putting trimmed down index cards in the bags keeps them rigid and gives them a place to write the floss number. The ziplocks fit nicely in a photo storage box. I’ve also seen someone use playing cards as floss drops which she then stores on binder rings on a rod in a cabinet in her craft room. There are a lot of different idea out there but it can take a while to find the one that works best for you and the way you like to stitch. Good luck in your search. ☘️ Thanks for watching. 😄

    Hi, hope I hear from you on this one. I noticed you have the same lamp with magnifying lens as I. What do you use to clean the lens without scratching the acrylic besides a microfiber cloth? Do you use just a dry microfiber cloth or do you use a cleaning product? 50/50% water and vinegar clouds it over time. So I bought a new one.

    • @kraftnkris2999
      @kraftnkris2999  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there. To be honest, I don’t do anything special or specific. I will sometimes use a dry microfibre duster when I am dusting the room. I think I did use a lens cleaning cloth at one point, the type they give you when you get a new pair of glasses from the optometrists. I can’t remember if I just wet it with clear water or if I used the cleaning solution they give you with your glasses. You would think if it’s OK to use on your glasses (mine have plastic lenses) then it should be OK on the magnifier lens, right? Sometimes I just use the sleeve of my polar fleece sweater if I’ve just sat down to stitch and notice it is dusty. It may have developed the odd scratch over time but nothing that interferes with seeing through it and no clouding. I do have a cover for it that I should probably put on it to keep the dust off of it between stitching sessions but I’m a bit lazy. The cover is made from flannel so I sometimes even use that to dust it off. 😆 Hope that helps some. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching and happy stitching. 🧵🪡
