What a privilege to have watched the practice sessions of this tune and many others on Wednesdays and Thursdays. There were times my pally and i will get there but no practice....(no mobiles phones then, so no one to warn you) We would have rushed to finish lectures or even stab late lectures just to meet the "choir practice" as we call it then....starting from around 5:30pm till about 8:30pm or 9pm or even later on a good day......looking back now.....yeah i can say it was worth the effort.....what a privilege!!! It really helps in my identifying each instrument playing now....
Its such a shame that baba didn't release this track before he passed on....However, im also convinced there is a clear enough recording somewhere, good enough to be fine tuned and released. Its possibly with the family...baba Ani included and it will be so nice to have the full version as a gift to the world and fans in particular. But then maybe there is a contract clause somewhere stopping them from releasing these tunes...cant understand why hold on to them...who dey enjoy them when una no release them? Tunes like O.A.U, BBC, CSAS, M.A.S.S; GOC, AKUNAKUNA, COP (Seun's COP performance at La Villette was near perfect, as good as i've heard it when Baba played it, but it was taken off youtube after a while). I bet you not too many people remember OAU and i even doubt if Femi or Seun can play it....Anibay no doubt can, but baba is getting old....once he is gone......i believe we would have lost that tune for life!!!
