In 1985 I took my '77 264GL in to my local Volvo dealer for servicing. There was a new 740 TURBO INTERCOOLER on the lot and I was allowed to take it for a test drive while mine was in the shop. Back then the 740's came with the B23F engine which for that year was rated @130HP. With the turbo that was bumped up to 160HP. With the addition of the intercooler that went up to either 188 or 190HP. In testing by either 'Road & Track' or 'Motor Trend' magazine they had recorded a 0 - 60 mph time of 6.7 seconds with the manual, which was a tick faster than the Chevrolet Corvette of that year. In my test drive I got it up to 180 KMH in a very short time. It was incredibly quick! I would have gone for more but a heavy rain was coming down and I didn't want to put even a scratch on that new test car. It's probably the quickest and fastest car that I have ever driven!
I'd have to say this is the best example of a 740 turbo i've ever seen! I haven't seen a single 1 with that red / burgundy color interior wheere i'm from (Australia)

What I wanted to say is the front air dam.and the rear spoiler it looks nice even if it is painted the same color as the car.
