  • Bricks Quality Test | How to Choose Good Quality Bricks | 1st Class Bricks Test [English Subtitles]
If you have decided to use bricks for walls in your home construction it means that you have made a good decision. And now if you plan to buy bricks then it is very important for you to know what qualities a good brick should have. The purpose of making this video is that you can check whether the brick you are buying is of good quality or not. We will not refer you to a laboratory for this work but you can check all these points on the spot and that too easily. Different types of bricks are available in the market. Non-engineering people or in other words non-technical people classify bricks by rate. That is, the same general formula that the more expensive the better but this formula is not useful here because you don't know It is possible that you have paid for first-class bricks
but you have been given 2nd Class bricks but we want to get you out of this kind of situation. Pay attention
The best type of brick used in masonry is called 1st Class Brick. In local language, it is called Class A Special or 1st Special.
    1. If you measure the 1st Class brick almost all the bricks will be in the same size i.e. if you measure 20 bricks at least 19 bricks will be the same size. The size of the brick most commonly used in Pakistan is 9 inch x 4.5 inch x 3 inch. Brick Size Whatever size you find for one brick should be the same for all bricks. The brick tolerance is one sutra in length while half a sutra in width and depth tolerance refers to the limit which if it is more or less the size of the brick will not be considered different.
In simple words, you can say that if the length of the other brick is one sutra greater or less than the first brick then it will be considered equal in size. A difference greater than this would bring it into a different measurement category
    2. If we talk about the angle then all the angles of the good quality brick should be at right angles and also all the edges of the brick should be sharp. If you don't understand the right angle note that the brick has to be completely flush with the sides.
    3. The good quality bricks should be well seasoned. A well baked brick is uniform in color i.e. the entire brick will be completely of the same color. There will be no mixed shade in it.
    4. There will be no crack on the surface of the good quality brick. Mark line the surface of the brick with a nail, there should be no marks on it.
    5. Two bricks hitting each other should make a bell-like sound there is an echo in the sound.
    6. Throwing a good quality brick from a height of one and a half meters directly on the ground should not break it. There are two things to consider here. First, while throwing, make sure that the brick is straight and the square side of the brick is up. Secondly, the place where you are throwing the brick should be hard.
    7. Now you have to check the brick by breaking. The broken head face should be perfectly smooth. Smooth means that no ordinary pebbles limestone or bubbles should be visible on the broken surface.
    8. The last task is a bit technical but you can do it easily. All you have to do is take the four good quality bricks at home and weigh all the bricks in turn and weigh all the bricks in turn
And write the weight of each brick on it with the help of a marker. After noting the weight immerse these four bricks completely in water for 24 hours. After 24 hours take out the submerged bricks and wipe them lightly with a cloth and reweigh. First grade brick should not absorb more than 17% of water. A brick that absorbs more than 17% of water is called 2nd Class Brick while a brick that absorbs more than 25% of water is known as 3rd Class Brick. These were the methods by which you can easily know what is the quality of the brick. If you are not yet out of the dilemma of choosing between bricks and blocks then you can watch our video "Bricks Vs Blocks" which is available on our TH-cam Channel.

This video is combination and based on good knowledge but I think something should be included regarding efflorescense.

Calculation of efflorescence in percentage isn't easy for public that's why not Incorporated. Thanks for your intention.

Dear, there is huge difference between 2nd Class brick and "Khinger Brick". Khinger brick is actually over burnt brick which also transformed to spongy and looses the shape and could be used safely under the ground level but not above. Later we will explain in detail vide other video.
