This works as a magic seal in this show so the vessel doesn't really matter. The wise master picking a pink electronic rice cooker with a bunny pattern to seal away the king of evil is so perfectly dragon ball lol
Again, that's so weird. The German Dub just calls it a rice cooker (because it obviously is) ... Why did the English Dub think, it is necessary to turn that normal ass rice cooker, into a mystical magical device? xD

Silliness will always be a part of Dragon Ball, even when the plot gets really serious, even though from Piccolo's arch and on, the tone of the serie gets more serious.
This is one of my personal favorite arcs and it fundamentally changed dragon ball by giving us our first big bad. Unfortunately later you’ll see this arc has a bunch of narrative problems in it, more so than any of the previous arcs.

Because DBZ has a more serious tone than early Dragon Ball, and at this point, the story becomes less comedic and more serious.
