The "Electronic Jar" that was used to seal Piccolo by Mutaito was actually just a normal rice cooker with a special seal on it. There was nothing special about it. Any kind of container that can be closed can be used for the Mafuba as long as it has the Demon Seal on it.
Exactly this, I believe it's inspired by Japanese ancient culture where they use seal stamp to ward off bad spirits and demons. So yeah, the container can be anything, the seal (paper) is what is important.
I feel like like Master Roshi's mistake was paralysing Tien because he needed him to hold the rice cooker down, mutaito did have somebody there to hold the darn thing down.
In the original japanese Manga, the 42 tomes are called just Dragon Ball, but for the anime version, they divided it into 2 anime series, DB and DBZ. Dragon Ball is a masterpiece.
Roshi missed because the jar's lid started to close when he attempted the Mafuba, so he accidentally hit the lid. Had he had Tien to help, he probably would have succeeded. He just had bad luck.
You're right about it still being Dragon Ball and not being Dragon Ball Z yet. But what everyone meant is that the Piccolo arc is far more serious when compared to the previous ones and has a larger focus on dramatic stakes than the lighthearted comedy. And without trying to spoil anything the series fundamentally changes around the time Krillin dies and most of what you are seeing in the Piccolo arc is a small taste of what's to come when you reach DBZ. Glad you're enjoying the series so far!
8 sec spot! The Evil Containment Wave is hard to control it seems, that's why he missed, he only saw it once being done, so not like he could practice it. The container doesn't really matter much, as long as it's sealed.
Actually Roshi never did miss; (he assumed he did) but he hit his target. The issue was the wind caused the lid of the container to shut just before King Piccolo reached it. Had Roshi performed the move a few seconds earlier he would have succeeded. But that's why after the impact the container goes tumbling over; it's because King Piccolo hit the container ( Roshi successfully executed the move and his aim was accurate too) but the wind caused the lid of the container to shut prematurely. Roshi's technique and aim were spot on; but mother nature said " Nope" and blew the lid shut.
People with great character progression arc, change of hearts, ultimate sacrifices being made... yeah, that's what they pretty much meant by DBZ feel and EPIC battles!
The Jar itself is nothing special, any kind of container can be used for the Mafuba Wave, it is the paper seal/letter and the technique of performing it is what really matters. Roshi only sees the technique once, he hasn't had the actual time to practice and train to get it right like his master did. That's why Roshi missed and the technique waste way too much life energy so he died regardless if he gets it right or not. But for what is worth he at least tried to stop King Piccolo.
Mafuba means 魔封波 in both Japanese and Chinese. "Mafu" means containing / sealing evil, "Ba" means "wave". I think the concept of sealing evils in some kind of container is in reference to some ancient Chinese books or contemporary Chinese fictional stories.
Super gets dark? I mean, on an existential level ... kinda ... but nah, I don't see it xD And no, don't try to convince me, that would just end up in needless spoilers being thrown around xD Remind me in a year or two, when she gets there xD
No, master Korin has one more trick left up his paws. Too bad, master Roshi did not ask Tien to hold and close the jar. Like his master asked of him. His evil-containment wave would have more success. King Piccolo is the first real villain, who is just too strong, and without mercy. This last saga of the Dragonball series is allot more serious 💪
I love your reactions, but I’m getting kind of tired of you blaming characters for things they can’t help. Roshi literally could not have dodged that first attack it was way too fast. Yamcha can’t train right now because of his leg. The jar closing was random chance
Suzy, I don't know what most of the Dragon Ball fanbase will tell you when it comes to watching the anime but in my opinion it's best to watch DB Kai instead of Z. Kai is just a better version of Z with improved dialogue and less filler so that you don't have to watch so many episodes. I won't tell you how to watch anime just keep DB Kai in mind after you finish with this series.
Nope, DB Kai isn't even 100 episodes out of 270+ or whatever there are in DBZ, DB Kai is like a butchered version of the original having less episodes, reducing beyond filler. For a first time watcher the best experience is by watching the original. She already said she's watching DBZ.
The point is she tends to like filler, hence why she is watching it. I personally think Kai is better as well, but I do think there are select scenes in Z should watch, including some good filler additions.
@calebglasscock7392 she had watched all the Dragon Ball eps so far and she liked . there is no reason for her to watch Dragon Ball Kai instead of Dragon Ball Z . she already told that she will watch Dragon Ball Z . i wish you a great weekend

The demon seal is the same one you see in sailor moon, sailor mars uses it on a regular basis, you even see her making some a few times
Seeing King Piccolo being scared by hearing Mutaito’s name gave me chills
I feel like like Master Roshi's mistake was paralysing Tien because he needed him to hold the rice cooker down, mutaito did have somebody there to hold the darn thing down.
Rip Master Roshi, one of my favorite characters in the whole franchise
16:46 best moment in this entire reaction series.

i like that you call them tomes lmao
Roshi missed because the jar's lid started to close when he attempted the Mafuba, so he accidentally hit the lid. Had he had Tien to help, he probably would have succeeded. He just had bad luck.
If Roshi succeeded, Krillin would stay dead, because two of the dragon balls would be gone forever
You're right about it still being Dragon Ball and not being Dragon Ball Z yet.

@@brandoman79 Unlucky... should have put more points into his luck stat. 😂
Thank you for your detailed explanation. I'd like to tell Suzy the situation too.
Well his master did tell roshi to hold the rice cooker but this time he has nobody to hold it
japanese Tien yelling MAFUBA! always hits
That's the thing that makes the dragon ball shows special, no one has plot armor.
Not even Mark?
People with great character progression arc, change of hearts, ultimate sacrifices being made... yeah, that's what they pretty much meant by DBZ feel and EPIC battles!
Oh you poor naive child
Good old Dragon Ball drama, we're getting closer to Dragon Ball Z 🔥🔥🔥
The Jar itself is nothing special, any kind of container can be used for the Mafuba Wave, it is the paper seal/letter and the technique of performing it is what really matters. Thank you ❤❤❤😊
Thank you for uploading more dragon ball Suzy I hope you have a great night 😊

if you remember mutaito do the mafuba ando roshi hold the rice cooker, and know no nody hold de rice cooker and the was struggling next cap 😱😨😟☹😥😢😭😭😭
20:20 piccolo is gonna be complety unstoppable (unless someone gets ultra convenient bs)
The Evil Containment Wave is PTSD for King Piccolo
Finally, Master Roshi gets his time to shine and he misses!?
its only been a few days since his broken leg it takes way longer than that for it to heal
RIP Master Roshi.
Still hoping for a flashback series with crane and roshi and mutaitos backstory properly all fleshed out
That would be cool, but sadly I think the only proper author of such a tale is gone.
@@Edlinqui yet there still coming out with daima and continuing super 🤔
@Edlinqui only the 2nd season was good and that was when Akira got involved with gt,
@Edlinqui that's how a lot of the what if stories r unfortunately
RIP Muten Roshi, Kame-sennin, Master of the Turtle style, enjoyer of training programs on tv.
Like you pointed out, if Roshi actually sealed king piccolo, two of the dragon balls would get sealed with him, and nobody can make any more wishes
15:58-16:04
10:56 Doesn't matter what, it's the seal that's the important part.
What do you think ,Suzy .Can Mercenary Tao and The Red Ribbon army defeat King Piccolo??
I can't wait for the next episode!! Oh, you don't know the first thing of what's about to come lol!
Suzy is 10 episodes further when I post this comment, but she was NOT READY.
Master Roshi a real one for this
Amazing videos
Hmm. Yeah. These are the beginnings of DBZ. A bit of a shame. Still, the tournaments in DB are great.
First🎉 finally Edit: i guess not older comments are slowly showing up?
Rest in peace master roshi
Shenron appearing has kaiju godzilla vibes.
16:04 didn't he swallow some of them? There's clearly 7 right there ya'll
Nice catch I was thinking the same too
I mean, as scared as he was when he saw the jar and the mafuuba, he might have had a bit of an accident...
As kids we have kid problems, as you grow so do the problems in life. Adulting 😒
亀仙人カッコイイわ
i dont like they dont say ma fu ba
Why didn't chaotsu freeze piccolo?
Dont let people spoil your fun. Take it episode by episode as all of us have gone.😎😍
Mafuba it was the only technique can defeat piccolo king too sad 😢
👍
Dbz does get darker and so does Super. This is just tip of the ice berg.

Do NOT watch Kai. It's a neutered version of DBZ.
The point is she tends to like filler, hence why she is watching it.
