  • CHROME GuidedSMILE was developed for dentists who desire a preplanned, predictable guided All-On-X style surgery. This metal stackable guide coordinates implants, bone reduction, prosthetics, with a simplified final conversion protocol.
CHROME is an adjunct to, and not a replacement for, the doctor's surgical, implant, restorative knowledge and skill set.

Doing the all on 4 is it always necessary to grind the bone down for the prosthetic?

Hi Andrew. The simple answer to this is no, it's not always necessary to reduce the bone. The more complex answer is that it depends on the patient situation.
If the patient is dentate (has some teeth on the surgical arch) then bone reduction is necessary. If the patient is edentulous (has no teeth on the surgical arch) it will depend on how long they have had no teeth. Over time having no teeth results in bone loss in the jaw. This bone loss is sped up if the patient wears a denture. If bone loss has been going on long enough then typically the ridge of bone left behind tends to be smooth enough so bone reduction is not necessary. Of course, the final determination is made by the doctor planning the treatment.
The animation is a real-life patient case. In this situation teeth needed to be extracted and bone reduction was necessary. The patient had a very gummy smile and as a result, more bone than usual needed to be removed. A guiding priniciple of CHROME GuidedSMILE is that we remove the least amount of bone necessary to achieve a successful surgery. We have a version of CHROME, CHROME Natural, that really only profiles the bone so that there is very very minimal bone reduction.
