The first 4 carriages are Ex-V/Line N type carriages that were retired from service when the standard gauge Vlocity trains entered service. They were on test after a period of storage at Seymour.
In short yes. Long answer is the locomotive has been in storage for multiple years and without any maintenance, the condition has deteriorated and now due to be restored.

Just a thought but on its transfer from Adelaide, would the tonnage on its drawbar have been the most it's ever had?
It's very likely, especially with the steel at the rear. Definitely not the first S class to have a lot of weight on it's drawbar though.
