Nope, I would rather say it was 1999(Sarfarosh). Yes, he did a below average Mann that year but Sarfarosh was a movie which showed Police department in a realistic way(which was always lacking in bollywood movies in 1990s as they would tend to show a sanjay dutt or suniel shetty or Akshay kumar in rather over the top manner.only exception though would come from parallel cinema e.g. Shool was a masterpiece).
Aamir Khan definitely knows how to choose a script (at least most of the time). The movies he's done, especially in the 21st century (wow, sounds so ancient) have been for the most part, amazing.
Aamir Khan for me is the best amongst the A listers. His audience comes from all the age brackets. He has little to NO social media presence, rarely promotes his films on any TV shows, yet is able to pull off number of blockbusters.
Amir is even recognized by my friends from China, Vietnam and Russia. They watched PK, 3 Idiots and other Amir khan’s movies and thought Bollywood is great. That is more than enough to recognize a person’s service for an industry
I am Chinese and I have to say, actually what we feel about Aamir Khan doesn't change what we feel about India and Bollywood. We just love Aamir, and we believe that he is the only good guy in India.😅
The reason why Aamir Khan is my favorite over the other A-list actors is because he made even unconventional film choices to back and made them successful such as Lagaan, Rang De Basanti, Taare Zameen Par, PK, Secret Superstar and many more. He's never carried himself as a superstar and manages to surprise audiences.
Aamir literally created the 100, 200, 300, 350, 500 and 2000 crore clubs for Indian cinema. And that too by choosing the most unconventional subjects, devoid of the routine masala fare of Bollywood. Now that's something!

Sadly, we often fail to acknowledge Ajay's experimental side which is clouded by his Singham machismo. At one point, Ajay was the most experimental A list star in Bollywood, even more than Aamir Khan. Just look at the array of subjects he chose back in the late 90s through the late 2000s. Zakhm, Thakshak, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Lajja, Company, The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Deewangee, Gangaajal, Bhoot, Khakee, Raincoat, Yuva, Apaharan, Omkara, OUATIM, Aakrosh, etc.
I think Zakhm, Thakshak and Lajja were especially during a time where parallel cinema was almost shunned in a corner entirely, yet he took up the challenge consistently. I agree, it needs to be acknowledged.
I was literally searching for that one comment which speaks volumes about Ajay being one of the most underrated actor. You nailed it @eternal struggler...There is this thing about Amir Khan that he is more hyped, no doubt he is a great actor but this formula of doing one film a year is getting boring now and honestly people want to see more of Amir Khan but he doesn't seem to be in the mood of giving us more of him while on the other side we have an actor like Ajay Devgn who is not only experimenting with his roles and scripts but is also making a point to be right there in front of our eyes and not leaving us craving or longing to see him. Name any genre and Ajay has killed it, be it a shy yet strong headed lover in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam or a badass hateful villain in Khakee, he has done it all and not just done it for the sake of it, but also highlighted the role in such a way that you cannot forget that character whenever you talk about that particular film or genre.
Aamir Khan is nothing short of a certified legend in the industry. Aamir Khan's name alone guarantees 100 crore at the box office, his film choices are great too and it genuinely has an impact on society (except Thugs of Hindostan that movie sucks ass)
I want to add another admirable act of Aamir Khan. Hosting Satyamev Jayate . It was such a genuine show where important topics of India used to be discussed by inviting professional, victims of tragedies. It was an honest and daring show that no other actor did before him. My respect for him increased 100 times more after that.
SJ was a huge propaganda show dude! I have respects for Amir as an actor but SJ is a nonsense show and Amir has gotten exposed multiple times for it. You wouldn't know about it unless you've encountered the ones he shamed on the show. For example the Doctors. He repeatedly labelled them as looters and dacoits . While he can be seen now doing ads for Pharmeasy. Such hypocrisy. As a doctor myself and having seen countless colleagues put their lives on the line at such a young age and often even suffer the consequences, it's so hurtful to see mainstream media and dudes like him publicly saying such Things. While the mainstream media has never supported us and films like SJ2, Gabbar is back, Munnabhai mbbs have always ridiculed us, Amir's show was two steps ahead. There were several other issues too.. Thus, while Amir's filmography us admirable, SJ is not an 'achievement' by any means. It was a ploy to play on the vulnerable minds of the gullible.

The range that Amir Khan posses is unmatchable.The man surprises the audience everytime they him see on screen. Evey character feels different than the other. The wait for his movies is worth of time in most of the cases. Although I'm skeptical about Laal Singh Chada but let's see how it turns out .

Totally agree. I wish you had added Sarfarosh and Mangal Pandey in his repertoire here as well. Although he did not transform so much in Sarfarosh, but his dialogue delivery and the general screenplay of that movie, and the supporting cast especially that of Mukesh Rishi and Nasarrudin Shah were phenomenal. Sarfarosh made me a huge fan of his, and till date, I would not miss any of his movies in the theatre. Hands down, he is the best actor in Bollywood.

Salman & SRK had a good films and performances in the 90s and 2000s, but the quality of their films dropped in the 2010s. Akshay & Ajay gave some forgettable films in the 90s and bit of the 2000s, but improved over the years. Meanwhile Aamir always gave good films and performances.
Well I think in this sense his filmography is like that of a Hollywood actor. Where we just look for the best movies ever and then we discover the actors through those movies.( for ex. Heath ledger from dark night). Similarly people will see these movies and then discover Aamir Khan( if they haven't discovered him already). So, the legend of aamir khan will grow as the time passes

It is simple. Acting wise, Aamir is the best. The amount of different types of role he has done throughout his career with so much perfection speaks for themselves. SRK comes very close. Much closer than what many would expect tbh. Just look at his performances in My Name Is Khan, Devdas, Swades or Chak De India. You won't find a single flaw in those performances. He just doesn't have enough numbers to back him up like Aamir. Basically in terms of acting capability both Aamir and SRK are on the same level. It is their film choices which puts Aamir ahead of SRK. The rest 3 is peoples opinion tbh. They come all in the same category, does a commandable job. They just haven't done anything unique enough to be close to Aamir or SRK.
Now I can understand why my father loves Aamir Khan so much. Especially I cried so much watching Taare Zameen Par, because students of our generation have to go through all such things but no one acknowledges. But Aamir did, and even showed that even a child can have struggle with mental health and its completely okay. Literally waiting for his next project!!
We can't really measure acting in numbers like sports. But we can clearly say Amir Khan is the best not only because of his acting prowess but his decision of not succumbing to poor scripts or mirch masala movies just for commercial gains. Some make quality movies but go unnoticed, some make poor movies yet earn 300 Cr. Amir Khan is the perfect equilibrium of both sides. He held his Ground, stayed true to the actor within him & yet delivered biggest blockbusters of bollywood. Hats off !

I was just waiting for the day when someone like jammy talks about aamir's filmography, I became a fan of his work after watching taare zameen par and 3 idiots, was totally mesmerized by his transformation as sanjay singhania in ghajini. Thats the biggest misconception… his fanbase is actually the biggest on ground level…. His lack of presence on social media and media in general makes one think out of sight out of mind but when he arrives, just his presence alone is enough to push even offbeat subjects to megahit status…. A dangal or tzp or or pk or rdb wont be huge at the box office if not for aamir… at the same time when he goes mass he breaks records too like ghajini or dhoom3 or fanaa… ajay used to do offbeat stuff but they hardly worked at the box office and similarly srk had a swades or paheli that were good and different but failed at the boxoffice…. Aamir is that rare superstar who can bring in the audience whether its mass or class. Diverse genres and the biggest hits!

If you ask about just acting skills then SRK is really the best actor among them, but i agree that Aamir is the most dedicated actor in the country, these 2 are the best actors according to me, if i have to choose three then the third one will be Ajay Devgan, the mans acting skill is too underrated according to me, I've watched every movie of his and I've no hesitation to say that he deserve more recognition for the actor part of him.

Yes! I’ve always said Amir khan is my favorite. His films are about quality, not quantity. And it’s true we don’t see him in movies as often but when he does star in something new, it’s always different and refreshing. I also loved dhobi ghat. I don’t see why other actor creating something like that. He’s phenomenal. Also, He’s one of the rare actors that has taken on roles where he is older, where he is a dad or an older character instead of playing a young man romancing a woman in every single movie.
Shah Rukh Khan does character work very well. He can have great fun with a well-written character. Here’s hoping. I think he needs to do more comedies.

I feel Amir Khan is definitely a great actor. Apart him I think Hrithik also puts alot of effort to drop his hritik persona and take up the mantle of the character. And in last few years , Saif Ali Khan has also surprised me alot with his performance esp in laal kaptaan and sacred games.

I think shahrukh is better actor than the rest. Aamir's performances in the film are as good as his characters. Srk unlike him have lifted many times mediocre scripts with his performance and is equally convincing in most of them. Aamir falters in romantic roles and sometime in larger than life roles. Aamir definitely has better filmography and script choices tho. Talking abt others akshay has good comic timing and good screen presence, ajay do great in serious roles and has grt screen presence too and about salman the less I say, the better 🙂

When you talk about a journey...it should be the from starting to the last. There was times when there were nobody who even can come close to Mr. SRK. The reach and impact he has around the globe is still unmatchable. Yes, he has some failures in last few years due to experiments. But I am sure he will bouch back like a King and everybody will again start recognising him and will give him no 1 spot. The fact is we tend to the forget past achievements and always emphasize on present. For me, if somebody can come close to SRK, yes its Aamir. But the other 3 that you mentioned, even they know by themeselves that they are not in the league of SRK and Aamir. Mr. Salman even openly accept the fact.

I'm really surprised how you completely forgot Hrithik Roshan in this analysis. Have you ever thought about the range of different characters that he plays in each of his movie? From singer dancer in KNPH to a rogue civilian in Fiza, from an army man in Lakshya to a mentally challanged boy in Koi Mil Gaya and then a Super Hero in Krrish, from cool thief in Dhoom 2 to a physically challenged man in Guzaarish, from a blind man in Kaabil to a bihari math teacher in Super 30, he has portrayed completely different universe of characters and has been convincing in all of them. He has touched both the extremes of acting and has always been bang on in performance, screen presence and acting. That guy can act through every muscle on his face. If your definition of best actor is just movie revenue then even WAR has done a business of 500 Cr worldwide. How did you forget him?
For me, there is no one great actor. It’s sad that we don’t have more than 5-6 Superstars and of course, the Women Have suffered due to the Superstardom of Male Actors. Although Sridevi ji, Tabu, Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan among others are changing the definition and the image of a Superstar.

debatable since its not easy to perform a college kid right after a role like ghajini in an era where prosthetics and vfx weren't present in a substantial amount then playing the role in dangal of an old father and simultaneously buffing up for the younger version although it could be through steroids is still not easy. I think great script can't always make a good movie. Acting plays a huge role in a movie. There are so many flop movie's with great script/great plot. If acting is bad the movie is bad. Same goes for bad script.

But the fact that you missed to mention all his subtle and out of the league performances like- Devdas, Baazigar, Swades, Chak De India, My name is khan, Dil se, Paheli, Hey Ram. All of these performances are different in characterization and portrayal. And most of these are underrated gem!
TALAASH is one of the most underrated movies and underrated music albums. The performances of all the three stars, the emotional quotient and the mystery surrounding the story made me love the movie so much.
I loved talaash so much! One of my favorite movies and albums till date. Some people actually brushed it off as a cheap horror movie, completely missing the actual message of the movie. The true horror was the way people treat each other, and the lives they live (along with dealing with grief and loss)People completely missed that and dismissed it.
As an actor ShahRukh and Ajay seems to have higher celing, SRK can give you that breathtaking and surprising performance like MNIK or Swades or Devdas.Ameer is great actor but also choose scripts very wisely so for him both things should work he can give 100% and make your money worth. Ajay and Akshay both can manage masala as well as classy movies too when needed basically master at both, and Salmaan is different breed altogether he has created his Aura and audience and he sticks to that. He took backseat in Antim for story and it bombed I don't think he'll take backseat again.
Aamir is really great in choosing scripts, some of the great scripts were first offered to SRK but later Aamir did them and they became classics, honestly, Aamir and SRK are the best A-list "actors"
This is one thing I have felt too. Amir Khan trusts himself more as an actor/artist than a media image/star (whicb perhaps is more important for Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan). Amir khan in his work ethics somewhat resembles the school of craft helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali where perfection is given paramount importance. In contrast, Akshay Kumar has stated on celluloid the purpose of his films is to entertain and he does not really care about characterisation. Now, I am someone interested in female driven, female centric cinema to the extent that even in a Khan/Kumar/Roshan film, the female cast matters more to me. So if it works with you, I'd like to know your opinion which female actor in India is balancing stardom/superstardom with polished craft as an actor simultaneously.
Srk acting ability is top, aamir is good in choosing script but he is not as good in acting as srk...some people will disagree but choosing a good movie is good knowledge we can't give this credit to an actor, actor only credit is how he performs his scene and he truly puts on the emotions ob big screen and in this SRK is beyond expectations...

I have been following you since years but I have to say, this is your best video Jammy Pants 4. There is not even an iota of doubt that Aamir Khan truly is the best Star Actor in Hindi Cinema History. The reasons put forward by you are all apt and very rightly put. I would place Hrithik Roshan as a close 2nd, but what often goes against Hrithik is how he looks. His greek god appearance might be a major reason why often directors dont go to him for a character like, say Langda Tyagi. And that's why we havent seen the kind of versatility from Hrithik that we have seen from Aamir though I do believe Hrithik has the complete capability. Another enormously versatile and effortless Star Actor is Ranbir Kapoor. He is brilliant. But I do feel, strongly feel, he will not be able to pull off Action genre the way Aamir was able to pull of Ghajini. Another reason why I have extremly strong doubts regarding both Brahmastra and Shamshera. To conclude, Aamir really is the greatest, and he has acted in one pathbreaking film after the other, ever since his debut. There ain't no star Actor like him.

Yes, he did a below average Mann that year but Sarfarosh was a movie which showed Police department in a realistic way(which was always lacking in bollywood movies in 1990s as they would tend to show a sanjay dutt or suniel shetty or Akshay kumar in rather over the top manner.only exception though would come from parallel cinema e.g. Shool was a masterpiece).

Sadly, we often fail to acknowledge Ajay's experimental side which is clouded by his Singham machismo. At one point, Ajay was the most experimental A list star in Bollywood, even more than Aamir Khan. Just look at the array of subjects he chose back in the late 90s through the late 2000s. Zakhm, Thakshak, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Lajja, Company, The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Deewangee, Gangaajal, Bhoot, Khakee, Raincoat, Yuva, Apaharan, Omkara, OUATIM, Aakrosh, etc.
I think Zakhm, Thakshak and Lajja were especially during a time where parallel cinema was almost shunned in a corner entirely, yet he took up the challenge consistently. I agree, it needs to be acknowledged.

Totally agree. I wish you had added Sarfarosh and Mangal Pandey in his repertoire here as well. Although he did not transform so much in Sarfarosh, but his dialogue delivery and the general screenplay of that movie, and the supporting cast especially that of Mukesh Rishi and Nasarrudin Shah were phenomenal. Sarfarosh made me a huge fan of his, and till date, I would not miss any of his movies in the theatre. Hands down, he is the best actor in Bollywood.

It is simple. Acting wise, Aamir is the best. The amount of different types of role he has done throughout his career with so much perfection speaks for themselves. SRK comes very close. Much closer than what many would expect tbh. Just look at his performances in My Name Is Khan, Devdas, Swades or Chak De India. You won't find a single flaw in those performances. He just doesn't have enough numbers to back him up like Aamir. Basically in terms of acting capability both Aamir and SRK are on the same level. It is their film choices which puts Aamir ahead of SRK. The rest 3 is peoples opinion tbh. They come all in the same category, does a commandable job. They just haven't done anything unique enough to be close to Aamir or SRK.
Now I can understand why my father loves Aamir Khan so much. Especially I cried so much watching Taare Zameen Par, because students of our generation have to go through all such things but no one acknowledges. But Aamir did, and even showed that even a child can have struggle with mental health and its completely okay. Literally waiting for his next project!!
We can't really measure acting in numbers like sports. But we can clearly say Amir Khan is the best not only because of his acting prowess but his decision of not succumbing to poor scripts or mirch masala movies just for commercial gains.

Yes! I’ve always said Amir khan is my favorite. His films are about quality, not quantity. And it’s true we don’t see him in movies as often but when he does star in something new, it’s always different and refreshing. I also loved dhobi ghat. I don’t see why other actor creating something like that. He’s phenomenal. Also, He’s one of the rare actors that has taken on roles where he is older, where he is a dad or an older character instead of playing a young man romancing a woman in every single movie.
Shah Rukh Khan does character work very well. He can have great fun with a well-written character. Here’s hoping. I think he needs to do more comedies.

He has worked in Rustom, Airlift, jolly llb 2, Gabbar, TEPK, KESRI, GOOD NEWZ,2.0, Bhool Bhulaiya earlier Hera Pheri , Garam Masal and Atrangi re, now upcoming PRITHVIRAJ, RAMSETU, OMG 2 and many other movies with totally different content. HE is mini industry. He touches every type of feelings people want to watch on big screen and even on OTT for today's time. AKSHAY ( MASTER BLASTER) - SACHIN TENDULKER , Salman (Sehwag) - Same type innings but with blast, Ajay (Yuvraj) - can do anything anytime, Amir (VVS laxman) - always plays special inning, Sahrukh - saurabh ganguly ( Captained bollywood in 90s but strulling now like dada's carreer)

For some reason I feel Amir should direct more films. One such project was TAARE ZAMEEN PAR which in my opinion was a revolution and there’s absolutely no body who disliked the movie. If this is his caliber, then definitely he must direct more films..

Its SRK. He's the undisputed A-lister. I'm not claiming it irrationally. But the fact that you missed to mention all his subtle and out of the league performances like- Devdas, Baazigar, Swades, Chak De India, My name is khan, Dil se, Paheli, Hey Ram. All of these performances are different in characterization and portrayal. And most of these are underrated gem!

TALAASH is one of the most underrated movies and underrated music albums. The performances of all the three stars, the emotional quotient and the mystery surrounding the story made me love the movie so much.
I loved talaash so much! One of my favorite movies and albums till date. Some people actually brushed it off as a cheap horror movie, completely missing the actual message of the movie. The true horror was the way people treat each other, and the lives they live (along with dealing with grief and loss)People completely missed that and dismissed it.
Talaash would been great if the main plot of the movie was not copied from Sixth Sense. That part was disappointing.
As an actor ShahRukh and Ajay seems to have higher celing, SRK can give you that breathtaking and surprising performance like MNIK or Swades or Devdas.Ameer is great actor but also choose scripts very wisely so for him both things should work he can give 100% and make your money worth.
Ajay and Akshay both can manage masala as well as classy movies too when needed basically master at both, and Salmaan is different breed altogether he has created his Aura and audience and he sticks to that. He took backseat in Antim for story and it bombed I don't think he'll take backseat again.
Antim actually released in a wrong time even sooryavanshi take back the audience but it is a different movie where antim has salman but not in lead
Aamir is really great in choosing scripts, some of the great scripts were first offered to SRK but later Aamir did them and they became classics, honestly, Aamir and SRK are the best A-list "actors"
This is one thing I have felt too. Amir Khan trusts himself more as an actor/artist than a media image/star (whicb perhaps is more important for Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan). Amir khan in his work ethics somewhat resembles the school of craft helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali where perfection is given paramount importance. In contrast, Akshay Kumar has stated on celluloid the purpose of his films is to entertain and he does not really care about characterisation. Now, I am someone interested in female driven, female centric cinema to the extent that even in a Khan/Kumar/Roshan film, the female cast matters more to me. So if it works with you, I'd like to know your opinion which female actor in India is balancing stardom/superstardom with polished craft as an actor simultaneously.

Srk acting ability is top, aamir is good in choosing script but he is not as good in acting as srk...some people will disagree but choosing a good movie is good knowledge we can't give this credit to an actor, actor only credit is how he performs his scene and he truly puts on the emotions ob big screen and in this SRK is beyond expectations...
Aamir is better actor than srk. Srk sometimes does overacting. His real personality is displayed a little bit in the character. Aamir does every role with great perfection and distinctly.

@@happyforever738 aamir is method actor in real sense. Whenever he portray certain character in the movie, we get engaged in that character and we distinguish aamir khan from that character. Srk is good actor but not the level of aamir. He many times overact. His face expressions are common in his all characters.

@@wj5488 whatever he said is true. You seem like an srk fan to me who is offended just because he didn't include SRK. SRK has failed to attract the audience since 2012-2013. For Akshay, Atrangi Re and sooryavanshi have been whole heartedly accepted by the audience. Just meaningful roles can't save you in case the audience rejects your completely boring film. Ajay is experimenting with different types of roles and genres and he has succeeded in them.

They say srk experimented in zero acting as a dwarf, it should have been blockbuster, etc but what they don't know is it was a routine romantic film which is being made since several generations and it was boring that's why it was flop.
Best way to find this out is think hypothetically (as this is not possible in reality) that a movie staring each of them (Akki, Aamir, Salman, Ajay, SRK) releases on the same day which one would you go to watch if you could only watch one? I know I would watch one with Aamir Khan as he is by far the most credible actor and the stories he tells and the way he tells them) only a handful of Flops you can think of. He is far out in the league compared to all others you have mentioned. I have to watch his movies a few times as they deal with a lot more than just his character and making him look big. I have been following you since years but I have to say, this is your best video Jammy Pants 4. There is not even an iota of doubt that Aamir Khan truly is the best Star Actor in Hindi Cinema History. The reasons put forward by you are all apt and very rightly put. I would place Hrithik Roshan as a close 2nd, but what often goes against Hrithik is how he looks. His greek god appearance might be a major reason why often directors dont go to him for a character like, say Langda Tyagi. And that's why we havent seen the kind of versatility from Hrithik that we have seen from Aamir though I do believe Hrithik has the complete capability. Another enormously versatile and effortless Star Actor is Ranbir Kapoor. He is brilliant. But I do feel, strongly feel, he will not be able to pull off Action genre the way Aamir was able to pull of Ghajini. Another reason why I have extremly strong doubts regarding both Brahmastra and Shamshera. To conclude, Aamir really is the greatest, and he has acted in one pathbreaking film after the other, ever since his debut. There ain't no star Actor like him.
