    Harbor Freight has come a long way in quality, it comes down to how actually good the person using the tool actually is

    I have the Harbor Freight watch press and find it works quite well. So far I have only used it to replace the snap on back on Timex watches after replacing batteries.

    Cool - Cars and watches in the same day :)
    The best thing about Harbour Freight is you can always take it back when it stops working or breaks. I think cheap tools are are good for a one off project or something you use infrequently (like the crystal press) but if you use it regularly you are always better served by a well made tool.
    Thanks Rob :)

      Generally I stay away from harbor, the crystal press may work fine for the few times I use. The previous models I tried made it even harder then it already is to get them in square.

    I bought the pliers to take the pin out of the watch band to adjust the size and it worked like a charm.

    I think your video is very amusing . . . Especially because I am a “fellow cheap tool finder” too! I am a serious tool junkie . . . I also try to hunt down expensive high end tools as well; but, when you feel like you got a great functional/useable tool at a bargain price, it’s invigorating and you feel like you got away with something!

    I rather buy high quality spring bar tools and screwdrivers cause you only buy these once in a lifetime..But the crystal press and stuff like that can be cheap cause I use that once in a lifetime haha

    I think Esslinger sells that identical press for $34.95 plus shipping. Almost bought one but got mine at Harbor Freight instead. Have only used it to install a snap on case back so far and it worked OK. Wish the bottom die would sit flush with the surface because if your watch isn't perfectly centered, it will wobble when pressing down. Hopefully it will be OK as a crystal press.

    Rob, do you have a video on what you use for making your videos (camera, lighting, etc.)?

    • @RandomRobReviews
      @RandomRobReviews  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really. Almost too simple of a set up to video really.

    yeah Harbor Freight def make janky tools but they do make some good stuff - like their Sonic cleaners, etc.... for screwdrivers I would go with Wiha

      First impression it’s much better then the cheap eBay and amazon offerings.

    How will those harbor freight tools work on that Apple watch? HaHa just kidding. Thanks for the video and Happy Easter.

      Thanks. Trying to get the case back off now. It shoots lasers in your eyes to stop you.

    Hey rob what type of glue do you use for bezel inserts😉

    • @onlineidentity6826
      @onlineidentity6826 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      CEEDAY Fan girl of boy Hi, I always use Elmers Rubber Cement. Strong enough that bezels never come loose, yet you are still able to remove the bezel and not damage it in the process.

    Did you use the loupe set?

    • @RandomRobReviews

      Nope. Returning it.

      It seems that you bought a bunch of tools, didn’t use the majority of them and by default labeled them as crap, seems legit.

    • @miked2662
      @miked2662 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of these tools will work just fine, there’s no need to spend big bucks on the majority of these tools.

    • @RandomRobReviews
      @RandomRobReviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I can tell by looking at certain tools if they will do the job I need them to do. I am keeping the ones that may work and returning the ones that won’t. You get what you pay for, and for many these may work fine. The multi kit and the loupe kit are like toys, not worth buying.

      You also never buy more than 1 tool a day as to maximize 20-25% savings !!😂

    Are you actually serious?, unless you're an actual professional watch repair person these components or tools are priceless I have used each one of them and they work flawless, it's all in operator error or non error

    Harbor freight yeah ya get what you pay for i got one on e bay and you can put the backs on watches and thats it do not try to install crystals with it . I did install a plastic glass on a seiko ,but, do a glass forget it. The glass slides around and thats N/G . Take it from me i have tried to install pocket watch glass 18 size and N/G have destroyed 4 or more crystals with that tool. Going old school type tool . A real proper tool costs the least $275.00

    Why go out and buy a bunch of tools do a video on them and say your going to take them back? With them being that cheap just buy a cheap case and put them together so when you do need them you’ll have them. That’s how I look at things. Just saying.

  • @csharpewalls

    You must have a better selection at your Harbor Freight than I do. Cheap tools aren’t worth the money spent.
