Whats funny , Before Snell signed with the Giants last year. He was looking for a long term deal and no one wanted to offer him the contract. Even the 182 mill right now. Teams didn’t wanna give it to him but all of a sudden Dodgers said ok we’ll give u a long term contract. Everyone is up and arms about it. There were plenty of times other Teams could have signed him but they didn’t...Also, Deffered contract is not exclusive to Dodgers. All MLB teams can do the same,. Actaully deffered contracts has been happening for more than 30 yrs. that's why there was the Bobby Bonilla contract.

@@PullinMyOwn that's why he settled for 2 yrs 64 mil with the Giants but opted out this year cause he really wanted a long term contract. It's reported everywhere just google it. Nobody wanted to offer him a long term deal before the Giants. everyone knows about this. He was Injured and turning 32 so teams are hesitant to sign him a big contract

@@sladesurfer yeah LAST year…you can thank his agent for that. His late signing is the reason it went to 2 years. I’m talking about the offers this offseason. MLB fans that are calling dodgers “buying people”
Why didn’t you trade for Betts when all the dodgers offered was verudgo? Your team couldn’t offer more?
Why did Ohtani pick the dodgers when everyone else offered him the same deal? Why didn’t your management have better negotiation skills?
Why didn’t you offer freeman a deal when the braves and Angels didn’t offer him a contract? Your team could’ve offered him a deal .
    Why didn’t you pick
Up max muncy after he was dfad by the A’s? Anyone else could’ve picked him up?
Why didn’t you trade for Glasnow? All we have up was one scrub pitcher for him.
Why didn’t you offer Teoscar Hernandez more than a one year deal last year? All the dodgers offered was a one year and no other team came to the table.
Why didn’t you draft kershaw, lux, gonsolin, may, miller, or vesia? They were all available?
Why didn’t you trade for black jack at the deadline? Anyone could’ve?
Why didn’t your team get yamamoto when everyone else offered the same deal? Perhaps your team can’t provide the sales pitch the dodgers can.

Reason Dodgers closed on Snell is due to high probability Sasaki signs elsewhere. Reason is Sasaki is looking to max Japanese endorsement deals to make up shortfall from MLB rookie contract. Considering Ohtani and Yamamoto already have major Japanese endorsements, there is not much left for Sasaki.
IMO, he signs with Padres to apprentice under his mentor, Yu Darvish.

nah. this snell signing makes it more likely that sasaki joins the dodgers. No doubt he wants to join a 6-man rotation and lower the chance of injuries that many japanese pitchers have suffered in MLB. with snell added, there is no team in the majors that can guarantee a 6-man rotation over the whole season as well as the dodgers

This is what casual fans think. You’re just regurgitating what you hear other people from yesteryears would say. When you trade for players and they get big contracts, it’s different. That’s glasnow and Betts….. that also means you develope talent because you need assets to acquire those stars. If your team had it, they would do it too…. We also have a bunch of home grown talent and they are stars. Another thing, we have a bunch of rejects that come to us and we “fix them”. Look at our bullpen, a lot of guys that weren’t good elsewhere. Look at our role players, Kike, Muncy, Taylor, etc etc. rejects from other teams. The king of those rejects? Justin Turner. So miss me with the Yankees comparison. Lastly, spending doesn’t mean wins. You have to learn some more about baseball
