2019: This is Lux's year. 2020: this is Lux's year. 2021: this is Lux's year. 2022: this is Lux's year. 2023: this is Lux's year. 2024: this is Lux's year. He still has NOT had a break out year.
This will be Gavin’s year 2025… He was Blistering it two years ago before he hurt his knee. This year after the Allstar break he got his swing back…. Keep Favin on second…
I think Walker Buehler can be an elite closer. He has the right mentality and attitude for that spot and it showed to close out the World Series. He was doing anything and willing to risk injury because he knew and wanted to close it out for this team.
I could be wrong you DMAC you could be right but up to this time Lux has had plenty of time to prove himself. Lux is the Steve Sax of the Dodgers he just can’t make all the throws.
Now that Snell is signed and I feel Sasaki is coming. There'd be no reason to trade Lux. The comment he made to Snell when he was signed leads me to believe he is headed absolutely nowhere but for greatness in Blue.
I think Gavin Lux is a talented player that deserves an everyday role. Unfortunately, he’s run into the Miguel Vargas problem. Not good enough to play everyday on the dodgers, but it would be a shame to trade him. I don’t see any infield position where he’s a superior except short, so unless he’s capable of playing big league short…
Gavin Lux and Miguel Vargas do not have the same problems. Miguel Vargas was supposed to have an elite-ready bat which would make up for not having a true defensive position. Vargas got MORE THAN ENOUGH opportunities to seize starting time at 2nd and 3rd base with nearly 400 plate appearances to show his value, but he cratered. Unlike Lux, he wasn’t injured or coming back from an injury. Lux is actually a better defender at 2nd than SS. The problem is, Mookie will likely move to 2nd base which means Lux is going to somehow need to get over the hump defensively at SS.
@ Lux is way better than Vargas but Lux isn’t better than Freddie or Mookie. He’s better than Rojas at the plate and depending on the matchup, arguably better than Muncy. Unless Lux gets over his SS yips or suddenly learns a new position at 3B, there’s no spot for him to play. And that to me is the same problem as Vargas.
I would for certain play Lux at SS for spring training. I think his knee issue caused his throwing issues 100% last year. Now that he has shown to be fully recovered physically and mentally give him a chance there. Could platoon with Miggy Rojas. If nothing else showing that he could play SS raises his trade value. But he could possibly contribute as the SS. You lose nothing trying him out
Gavin Lux has high value and if Mookie plays 2nd base then he is too valuable to be a pinch hitter (also horrible stats as a pinch hitter). Trade him for something you need while you can. But if Dodgers don't land Soto then Mookie may go back to Rightfield.
@FrijoleCan they tried that a couple years ago. He was horrendous in the outfield. Can't play third or short. Has really bad stats as a pinch hitter. He is too valuable to be riding the bench. There are teams that want him and his low salary. Get something for him while you can.
When players have a major injury, ACL, TJ, Achilles, it takes a while to get back mentally. He may have a great year in '25. He was solid defensively at 2nd.
Like this 6 man rotation, what if the plan is to get Mookie real game reps defensively? That way no injury could seriously handicap you and you can maximize your lineup against anybody?
You can give all credit to Lux, DMac. But then, how could he contribute to Dodgers now that they announced Mookie to move to infield ? Do you want Mookie to play SS so that Lux can play 2B, or you want Lux to warm bench ?! He is a young player. He needs to play every day for his sake. If that’s what it is, trading him to a team where he can play every day is a better option for him.
The DODGERS do this maybe more than ANY other team in MLB. The DODGERS have held onto more players and subsequently watched their value go from as high as it can be, to lower than it should’ve EVER reached.
To me the Dodgers can’t and won’t be dedicated to having Mookie play infield until they trade Lux. If they keep him it’s because they have some doubts. Lux isn’t a player you bench and keep as a utility player.
Not advocating trading Lux. Then again, he will be a man without an everyday position if Mookie is indeed moving back to the IF. Having Mookie at 2B and Edman/Rojas at SS (or Adames there if they feel that he's be a better choice) leaves him on the bench for the most part. Might as well package him with a few prospects and get a really useful piece (Crochet, etc.).
After being the 5th worst batter in the league for the begging of the season. Lux had 2 good months. In August he reverted back to who he is. .240 avg .660 OPS and 0 HRs. Keeping Lux means forcing Mookie to play SS. Keeping a career .250 hitter with a career total of 28 HRs over 5 years is worth putting and aging Mookie out of position? That is maddening.
If there was a path on earth to trade for SKUBAL or ELLY DE LA CRUZ or a slightly lesser more like CROCHET or CJ ABRAMS, they should NEVER hesitate because both, the dollars & player warrant it.
PUT him back at Short. He's been playing Short all his life. And playin second 4 only 1 season. Use Miggy, Lux And Tommy Edman. I think he will rake and play great D at short. We don't need to over spend at that position. We need 2 outfielders and a Bullpen arms.
No doubt Lux can be an All Star. Only problem is the Dodgers are committing to moving Mookie to the infield. Lux would need to move to the outfield and they have been there and done that without success. And neither Mookie or Lux are everyday shortstops. So where do you play Lux? Might as well trade him to fill holes or get more pitching.
The Dodgers are filled with elite mvps. Gavin Lux will never get close to that as he proved last season. He is doing a disservice to the team by taking up a roster spot. He can’t hit for contact power or average and he can’t even defend. No more chances for this guy. He’s gone
It's like nobody is noticing he went from the guy you expected to strike out to the guy you expected a hit out of. If they trade him I get it, he has a much higher value now. But I'd love to see him stay if he has a place. He can always be traded by the deadline mid season if need be
Thanks for reminding us… yes I did noticed that and he was clutch at times. I still think Lux would be more valuable for a trade for a SP or closer relief.
Gavin Lux doesn’t possess the skill set that this Dodgers organization value and covet. He doesn’t have defensive versatility. He’s a second baseman and only a second baseman. He can’t hit lefties and must be platooned vs. lefties. He’s got good bat to ball skills, runs well and has average power. The Dodgers minor league depth has been stretched as of late and guys like Lux, Outman and Bobby Miller could be used to reload their minor league system with guys that don’t fit in with the Dodgers shirt or long term plans. Sign Willy Adames, re-sign Teo and Blake Treinen. Best starting lineup, best starting rotation and best bullpen. Mookie’s gotta hand to fill up!
Dodgers know that Mookie needs to play 2nd or outfield. The experiment of having Mookie at SS is nit a good decision. Just listen to MiggyRo… playing SS daily will affect offense… the dodgers need to decide on Mookie’s position if it is the infield (2nd base) they need to trade Lux it’s that simple.
Lux is making like 2 million dollars. His second half of 2024 alone is worth multiple times that. Idk if it’s just Dodger fans or if all baseball fans are like this but these comments are insufferable. You all either don’t actually watch baseball or flat out don’t know what the hell you’re looking at. Which would be fine if you would all just not comment and talk constantly when you’re talking right out of your asses.
Gavin Lux isnt a rookie anymore hes been in the league quite a bit now and still hasnt shown us that hes at least an all star. Lets be honest in evaluating him hes closer to being a prosect bust. You have to trade him while he still has value and that time is now.
@modder15 He hit a career high in HRs and batted over .300 the 2nd half of season while coming back from an ACL injury ..what are you talking about? 😂😂😂
@@modder15 little perspective......The average stats for the "bottom 3" hitters in Major League Baseball would typically show a batting average around .200 - .230, with an on-base percentage (OBP) in the low .200s and a slugging percentage (SLG) around .300, resulting in an OPS (on-base plus slugging) near .500; indicating a lower level of offensive production compared to the league average Lux overachieved in each of these categories for a bottom 3 hitter 😂😂😂😂
They got rid of Heywood for a small slump, Lux has been in a slump for YEARS now, get rid of him. Dead weight. Not reliable. He's no different than Bellinger. Lux got to go.
Because he is too valuable to be on the bench. Mookie moving to second leaves him no position to play. He is a really bad pinch hitter. Bit teams would want to trade a high priced asset for him.
I believe Lux will hit much better statistically this season and should not be platooned. Keep him at 2nd, Muncy is ripe to be traded and Mookie should slot in at 3rd. He will adapt quickly, he can add a few pounds of muscle. The Dodgers should find a way to get Ezequiel Tovar at Shortstop thru a trade. The Dodgers need to clear out a bunch of prospects and along with Muncy get packaged to get a deal with the Rockies.
Dead weight is crazy....he was coming off an ACL injury and eben after a low start. He still hot a career high 10 homeruns and batted over .300 in the 2nd half of the season. He was finally hitting his stride. He's a dangerous bottom 3 hitter

Dude is making 2M$. He’s far outperforming his contract. His second half of the year alone is worth 2-3x that easy.
Now that Snell is signed and I feel Sasaki is coming. There'd be no reason to trade Lux. The comment he made to Snell when he was signed leads me to believe he is headed absolutely nowhere but for greatness in Blue.
He could be traded for SS or CF
It’s not that it’s giving up on him. It’s more about keeping Mookie off SS
Some guys never get over the memory of a traumatic injury especially if they continue to play the sport.
I think Gavin Lux is a talented player that deserves an everyday role. Unfortunately, he’s run into the Miguel Vargas problem. DMAC should go to Washington DC as a lobbyist.
The year DMAC goes to DC, NFL and NBA lose non profit status and congress officially adopts baseball as the national sport. 😂
They might have to trade him with CT3 to get salary space for Teo
There’s no salary cap in baseball dude. Why do you people even comment?

Keep lux at ss
I’m comfortable letting Rojas and Edman split time at SS, if they don’t get Adames or just wait until the trade deadline.
CARTAYA was once our top prospect after trading “said pitcher & catcher” to the NATIONALS. And we still have him to this day, and look at his ranking!
If Mookie comes back to second base, where does that leave Lux? Neither Mookie or Lux should be at SS.
Start making lux a utility player to eventually replace ct3 or teach him 3rd base to eventually replace muncy since he's alr 34
Mookie is staying in Rightfield… We sign Teo and get two more pitchers and we’ll have a much better team than this year….

Lux's swing is too long, he doesn't hit with enough power, and his limited arm strength makes him a one dimensional backup at 2nd base.
