This song does my heart good. Marko and Tarja have two such distinctive voices and they have always blended together so well. I love the way that both of their voice have matured over the years. The ability to live in the lyrics grows with time for most people, I think, and Marko, and especially Tarja, are prime examples of that. Interesting side note is that this video was directed by Ville Lipiäinen who has done a lot of work for Nightwish, and many other Finnish metal bands over the years. His videos are always put together wonderfully.

I agree, I think Tarja and Marko have both matured vocally, and have developed a great balance. Tarja is sounding less classical in her vocals, which I prefer. Lovely harmonies.

@ecbftl, I have to say, I am now becoming a minor fan of Tarja. She definitely has transitioned into an more versatile singer.

@@TripleG1967You're right!! If you're interested, take a look at Tarja singing "House of Wax live at Genelec Artist Room" and "The Living End" also Genelec Artist Room. I was quite surprised how Tarja sounded there, both have lighter and more contemporary vocals and House of Wax even has a moment where she uses vocal fry :) She has definitely matured plenty as a singer!

I was thinking how much I liked her voice here and was left wondering why that version of Nightwish never resonated with me. You comment was right on, her voice is less operatic and more mature and approachable. I will need to go check out some of her solo work.

They really are amazing together. I see others have already recommended some of their other duets from Nighwitsh era so I can only second that. Tarja's solo work is also worth checking out.

Thank you. This is the Nightwish of my youth. Tarja and Marko together. Their voices in perfect harmony. You should really try their iconic duet Fantoma Opera Official live from the End of an Era concert or The Siren live from the same concert. The lyrics of Left on Mars are really powerful. Marko said it started as a song to his wife and ended up reuniting two old friends. Their reconciliation means a lot to old fans and the lyrics fit their history perfectly. And Tarja has a rich solo career. I love her.
I think the Alien reference is a feeling Marko had for years when he was depressed. He said several times that he felt like an alien.

Thank you! I really love this song! Marko and Tarja have such good voices.
Even though this song is a fun song, it is very emotional... it's loaded with emotion. I still get goosebumps from the line "But you still believe in me".
This song and their reunion means so much to old Nightwish fans.
I think this was a very interesting way of getting introduced to Tarja. I loved your reaction when she started singing😄 Tarja is a great artist. I loved her in Nightwish and I probably love her solo career even more😅 What can I say, it's brilliant. She is a very charismatic performer, she and Marko both are.
I don't know how much you know about Nightwish history but Tarja's end in the band wasn't a happy one but it's all in the past now. It was a long time ago. And Marko and Tarja are friends again, which is really great. I am super happy for them! At the moment, they are touring South-America together.

Marko has the ability to sound great singing with just about anyone, especially with someone as great as Tarja.
You should check out these 2 singing with Nightwish as well. As others have suggested, try "The Siren" or their cover of "Phantom of the Opera" from the Helsinki 2005 concert (End of an Era DVD).

I love this song, it's been on loop every since it came out!! Tarja and Marko sang quite a few songs together during their time in Nightwish and from the beginning they've harmonised to beautifully, their voices are very distinct but when they come together its just.. chemistry.
They performed "The Phantom of the Opera" live at End of an Era 2005 together, that's one of their most iconic performances and perhaps intersting to check out after seeing them here! :) And then after that if you'd wanted to see more of what kind of artist Tarja is there's a hundred ways to go and all are exciting

Thank you very much for nice reaction (and for those lovely facial expresions also)! Tarja and Marko together at best with Nightwish: End of an Era -concert. Every song is amazing and worth watching/hearing, just few to mention: Phantom of the Opera, The Siren, Slaying the Dreamer and Planet Hell. Those are Tarja/Marko specials! And many more spectacular songs with or without Marko.

This really tugs at my old sci fi nerdy side. I feel a blend of recent storylines like in The Expanse and Avatar.
Marco is a sci fi nerd, and Floor (on her channel)did a 2020 covid time chat with Marko discussing the prospect of life elsewhere in the universe. He had some serious thoughts about the topic.
Not sure who wrote the lyrics. I should look that up.
Marko in his Wembley intro to Kiss while your lips are still red; mentioned pet Martians as part of his list of those you may care about.

Well, it's a musical genre. I think that if you want to listen to something else, you should change genre. maybe you can listen to Tarja's Outlanders project where she mixes EDM music and electric guitars. It's not metal, it's not symphonic metal, it's not rock. I recommend: Land of Sea and Sun (feat. Marty Friedman), World In My Eyes (feat. Vernon Reid- Depeche Mode cover), The Cruellest Goodbye (feat. Al Di Meola) etc.

    • @sergeiivanovich6827

Nightwish has already created a monument for herself from their songs which can be watched and listened to for months, regarding to concerts, so you must know that Floor has two little daughters, one is very tiny, we need to think about that, and without Floor Nightwish will not be able to cope, even if Tarja with Marco would invited. Tarja is unlikely cannot song in contemporary style, better say when she trying to do it her voice sound so vile, as if a cat is being pulled by the tail. She is fine only in opera style for some dark color soprano.
