My Dad has got a fantastic photo of that crashed Hastings being blown up by the British Army....... The photo captures the fireball from the explosion and then the shockwave blew him off his feet...... It was great to see the Twin Pioneer right at the end. My father was one of the Engineers who looked after that aircraft ......

Wow! I was here at that time, I had left two weeks before 48 Squadron Hastings pranged on the runway, that is all a blast from the past thanks for sharing, I would have worked most of those aircraft shown and AVM Paddy Bandon the CinC Far East is also shown, he was known as 'The Abandoned Earl' a great bloke

Although based at Changi with 205sqdn, I did detachments to Gan. You are so right about Paddy Bandon.

The demolition team from HMS Caprice used controlled explosions to break up the Hastings into manageable parts. We also drank the NAAFI dry a couple of times while providing seaborne defense for the RAF.
