Kudos to the GM engineers for making the replacing of a light bulb a trip to hell... But thanks for your video, you are the only one showing how to do it on both sides!
Dude, I honestly was not expecting a lot out of this video at first. I was swimming through B.S. and sloppy video work and short cut directions. You had the best video out there. Very detailed, great camera work, great lighting and you can tell you are very knowledge about the subject. Thanks so much from Flint Michigan
Man my headlight went out last night on the way to work. Went to see how difficult it would be to replace by myself and saw it was trapped behind the air box….thank you for the video! I haven’t worked on vehicles that much in life and you helped me out brotha appreciate you! 💪🏾
Radiator sits behind the grill. Thus you still wouldn't have access to the bulbs. Also the headlights are bolted in behind the bumper, so that would require you to remove more parts
Great video! I had to replace my left side low beam 6 wks ago. Now the right side is out and I was wondering how much trouble it will be to get to with the air filter in the way. Looks like not too bad. Thanks again for a great no nonsense video!
When changing the right side, i remove the air filter as there isn't much clearance for my hand to reach the bulb. If you have small hands then you may be able to reach in without removing the headlight. There is a support right behind the headlight, so removing the air box makes getting around that easier
Hello Mr Robinson I am a software engineer myself, or at least I was until I retired last year after 30 years, and boy do I miss writing code. Anyway, I have a headlight bulb out on my truck and found this video, which is really well done. I am shopping for bulbs and there is about a hundred different brands and alleged brightness levels of bulbs. My question for you is, what bulbs did you wind up installing and how happy are you with the outcome (brightness, reach, color, etc. Thanks, Phil
It should be the same bulb. Compare the bulb that you took out to the one that you are putting in to make sure that the tabs that are between the connector and bulb are exactly the same. If they are different, then you have the wrong bulb.
@@rhtservicesllc so the thing is.. the one coming out of the truck has 3 metal tabs and 3 plastic tabs.. The spare one in the glove box matches the one i bought.. niether of those two have the 3 tabs on the plastic part only the metal part. The spare bulb was one left out of a 2 pack. Left from the deceased fal Looking up the bulb the same # (H11) is required for the low beam high beam as well as the daytime running lights. So because its the same bulb as what was in the glove box im really super confused..
@@darcithurston6538 the bulb should only have metal tabs. The headlight housing has plastic tabs. That being said sounds like the tabs on the headlight housing have broken off and thus the bulb will not lock in place since there's nothing on the housing to lock it onto. My suggestion is that you'll probably have to get another headlight housing
Thank you. What an absolute pain doing this in while it's snowing. Did my driver's side headlight. Can we castrate the idiot that came up with this being a good idea other than keeping mechanics in work?
While it does reduce the chance if corrosion, it doesn't mean that the bulb will last longer. Life of the bulb is dependent upon the filament for halogen bulbs or diode for LED bulbs
Do you do Electronic work on a truck. See why it has a miss. Do a diagnostic with a analyzer.. Plus what is your location?? 21 years I have to replace one, but going to do both.
You can just unscrew the hose that goes into the airbox and pop the whole thing out by pulling it up and set it aside. It's a lot easier and gives you more room to move.
Let me start off by saying that I have very large hands... so I just change mine on the passengers side, all I did was squeeze my hand in between airbox and released light and change with new one. No need for and tools!
Yes. however all LED bulbs are not the same. Best to get ones that has flat head with LEDs that face left and right. The round headlight bulbs are poorly designed and blind oncoming drivers.
Don't know why you show people the hard way. Much easier to take the black plastic piece of the top and the piece right below the headlight on the outside. Two screws in the Fenderwells and just pop off all the way to the headlight . Two screws on top of headlight. You are Wasting people's time
😂😂😂😂😂. This guy has no idea what he’s doing. You only had to pop off the panel that you set you drill on and unscrew 2 10 millimeter screws on each light and slide it light out replace the bulb and slide them back in.
The headlight assembly doesn't come out like that. On this model, you have to remove the bumper trim in order to get the headlight assembly out as the bottom of the headlight is bolted behind the bumper
Kudos to the GM engineers for making the replacing of a light bulb a trip to hell... But thanks for your video, you are the only one showing how to do it on both sides!
Welcome. They don't want people working on their own vehicles but the people don't want to go to the dealership and get charged an arm and leg
This. I've changed a lights on everything I've owned, and yesterday I went to change one on my GMC, and was like what the hell😂.
Right! BS!
If you pop the plastic part under the lights you can unscrew whole assembly..but honestly this irritating way he did the driver side is easier

After 15 years I finally needed to replace a bulb. Thanks for the great vid!
Welcome!
Wow! They make it so much trouble just to change a bulb. Good explanation, thanks

Really well made video.. The best one for this subject in my opinion!!
Thanks
Hey, nice video....Thank you! I liked the two screen approach...you were able to explain the process and didn't have the camera jumping all around.

Thanks for the video my guy it made this easy for me 💯
keep making videos you are so good at this

Best video I found for this. Thank you!

Can people do this same process for the high beams?
@@ZayReyes-d6m they should be able to
Any reason not to attack this from the grill insert and plastic cover? Im going to installing ARC LED lights and looking for the simplest.

That is a good suggestion. Thanks for the feedback
Acceptable method for changing bulbs.

Really well done video.....tnx

It's been a while but I believed that I installed Sylvania Ultrastar bulbs. The brightness is sufficient for the driving I do (city and interstate).

need dielectric grease on bulb fitting
That's debatable. In some climates it isn't necessary as their isn't enough water intrusion or humidity to cause a problem
@rhtservicesllc bulbs last longer with bulb grease. keeps moisture out and cushions vibrations

I need the other side drivers side
Both sides are covered in this video
High Beam - 9001
Low beam - H11

It's better just to take out the headlight housing lol. It's 3 10mm screws and bumper plastic to come out a bit.
There are many ways to do it. However most are not willing to remove the bumper just to change light bulbs
