One of Paul's greatest gifts was his ability to write "simple" but epic bass lines… that, when played in time and with accuracy, are the best bass lines in the world! Can make you feel happy, astonished etc…
...and may I say, sounds so easy, but so difficult to master!

McCartney, one of the greatest melodic singer-songwriter musicians of the 20th century uses a pick to play bass...so do not listen to those who frown upon bassists who use a pick...it is perfectly fine to use a pick on a bass guitar...
And he uses a short scale bass too! Must make him the antichrist for gatekeepers.
Good bass line wasted on a stinking pile of turd of a song
A slice of pentatonic heaven from Paul McCartney and Tom Bornemann. Simple, melodic, and very effective. But only if it's got that punch and groove. Anybody can play these notes, but it's How you play them that counts. It's all in the groove. That's why I love the bass so much.

As you can imagine I get a lot of requests. Since the transcription process is very time-consuming I had to find a way to deal with this. So I started a "Transcriptions Priority List": Firstly I do requests by my personal students (online and offline). Secondly my patrons have the chance to put requests on my "Priority list" (see my PATREON page for further details, link in the video description). After I've worked through that list I sometimes do requests by others, which honestly is very infrequently.

The bass in the first two bars after the piano intro (the notes high on the neck) is actually an played by an acoustic guitar. The bass gets layered on top of it after that. They play the same lines except the guitar only plays the Bb once at the start of the riff while the bass plays two

I never heard anyone say that they hated this song… But now that I know that there are people that would say such a thing? I think I think I might have to restrain myself from punching them in them the neck should hear them say it out loud! One of my favorite songs of all times! I was just sitting here learning it… Finally! I play several instruments and usually just figure it out by ear, but I decided to cheat when it came to the bass line so I looked this video up!🤣

I am no kind of musician, but I've often heard it's hard to sing while playing bass, and that Paul is one of the few who does it. Why is this?

@@seasonofglassofficial A certain popular bass guitar TH-camr dislikes picked bass guitar, but does that mean it’s not a real way to play it? Nope, The sound of a picked bass guitar definitely works for some things!

man, this song needs the bass player to have a good stamina, other way they are out before the interlude
For real. I've been playing professionally for 25 years and do 2 hours straight sets, plus 45 mins before that 2-3 times a week, and this one tune wears me out!
I don't agree with the swing notation... takes away from the ska feel that Paul was going for.

@@basscination You've played the verse in a swing rhythm. It's not something I hear in the track. Most transcriptions (either bass or piano) similarly don't have the bass line in a swing rhythm. Rather, it's more ska to play it straight, with no offbeats (which again, being a ska song, is left to the guitar and piano).
@@arrell I don't play swing rhythm at all. Swing is meant to be a triplet feel, but I play dotted eighths notes plus 16ths notes and that is very ska-like.
