This car may not be my cup of tea , but Lexus didn't build this car to be fun. They built it as an entry-level model that can attract younger buyers who are interested in a luxury car. I do agree that it needs more power , BUT majority of the buyers in this segment don't really worry about power (If you do , highly recommend stepping up to the nx). And who needs awd , put some snow quality tires on it and call it a day , that's what I did with my ES (Plus , Awd can often take fuel economy numbers down which often doesn't turn out with good mpg).
Jordan Catcher Well said, ever since Sofyan got that Porsche & Tesla his reviews are somewhat leaning towards a particular auto group. Not that he’s ever been a fan of Toyota/Lexus but I can’t take his reviews seriously anymore.

If they want power, speed, awd, luxury, quality, brand, looks, and all, then go find another car! This isnt the only car sold by lexus, like they can afford what they demand. lol
Currently , my crop of cars includes 15 ES (Considering a 19 I went to look at yesterday) , a 18 Volvo v90 cross country which I mostly drive in the winter , and then there's my wife's 14 highlander , very satisfied with all the cars above so I've got nothing to hide.
How is cargo volume with the seats down? I can't seem to find exact numbers. I read somewhere though that the cargo volume is essentially doubled with the seats folded flat.
I've driven the UX. Many of you are getting caught up in the hp numbers. This car is designed for inner cities where 200+hp isn't necessary. Many of you can't get over the CVT. Let me tell you, it's the best CVT (non hybrid) I've ever driven and is better than most standard automatic transmissions I've driven. Also the hybrid 250h is the way to go on this car. 40+mpg and AWD. I'll have a review coming of the UX in December
They did a great job with the design and interior but the engine choice is just terrible considering this car is definitely heavier than the corolla as well. They could’ve easily put the 4 cylinder from the new Camry to give it 201 hp instead of this disappointing 169 hp. Lexus really missed out on an opportunity to steal customers from the German market with this car. Plus, a CVT? Really Lexus 😑
@@moviejose3249 we are talking about the CVT which is found in a lot of brands. It is fuel efficient and it's funny you and others expect sportscar performance smfh lol
Right Lane Hog this with the Powertrain out of the Camry would be a great little car. Sure a CVT is efficient, but modern 8 speed autos are extremely close and sometimes better. I would gladly trade 1-2 MPG for a great traditional auto. This is by far the lowest powered car in its class, considering the GLA (208hp), X1 (220~hp), and XT4 (237hp).
I think this car is going to do fantastic regardless of what “enthusiasts” think of it and let’s face it, most of these comments saying they hate it don’t realize it’s not a sports car. Not every car needs 400 horses and a V8.
The new Mazda CX-5 Signature trim has more features, for a little less money and more power. AWD, parking sensors (front and rear) , 360 camera, rear heated seats, turbo engine with a lot of torque and ANDROID AUTO. I will say the Lexus interior looks a little better.
A year ago we got our UX200. The handling of this car is quite remarkable for a SUV/CUV. We've averaged 32 combine MPGs on Super from Day #1. The sight from the inside is great and the fit & finish is outstanding at this price. Resale on any Lexus is always very good. As far as the acceleration, were not crazed drivers, so that's meaningless. We have another car for that!
I just bought this as my DD....and i must say...........................I LOVE IT...Not as much power but.....who cares...24 dollars fill up....ILL TAKE IT.
Regarding the absence of Android Auto, I believe that Lexus & Toyota should make their infotainment options complete and available to all, regardless of who uses which one. They should have Android Auto as well.
I'm driving a base UX200 now as a loaner while my 2017 IS200t F-Sport is in the shop & there are some things I like about it, but other things I don't. The powertrain like you hear in the video gets very loud & obnoxious (very un-Lexus like) & I can feel the CVT stumble here & there, but has surprisingly good power on the highway. More than I expected especially with only 169HP. The ride is fairly smooth, the seats are comfortable & handling is secure, but not nearly as sporty as my IS. The backseat is laughably tight, even tighter than my IS. Overall it feels more like a Toyota than a Lexus, but not a bad vehicle. My loaner is white with the black interior but I would get one with the red interior like in my IS.
Nice to see Lexus is still putting in fog lamps. They just add a bit to the design of the bumper without making it look cluttered or too plain if it didn't have them.
Not mentioned but a worthwhile tid bit, not having a turbo makes it a lot more reliable. Something Lexus is big into. Other brands will have the turbo but won't be on the road and won't have the resale value either. Still... That's a small engine.
This and the nx are a smart move for Lexus in terms of increasing their customer-base. Any other new Lexus' has been out of the price range for younger people. So long as these cars are found to be reliable, this will no doubt increase their brand-loyal customers. In the past, it seems many people have avoided Lexus simply because they couldn't afford to start driving them, and by the time they COULD afford a Lexus, they already formed a loyalty to different brands.
0-60 of 8.6sec.... I love you younger generations that mock a time like that. Not that long ago, many supercars would have had about the same times - with less traffic on the road. Many, many people (especially here in Europe) drive 1.2-1.4, 1.6 ltr cars with 10sec+ 0-60 times and in real world driving are perfectly adequate.
As a CH-R owner, my car has a similar if not exactly the same power train. Putting this thing in sport mode is just an awful idea. I just leave mine in regular mode, and it’s fine. I love my CH-R so I would definitely consider this.
I had an Uber driver with a CH-R, my cousin and I (we're both about 5'8) were pretty comfortable in the back seat. I could see how the windows would maybe give off a claustrophobic feeling but to me it seemed like more privacy in the back seat. Less light makes for a more comfortable setting in the back seat and even better for those roadtrips. A third person or someone very tall forget about it...they would need to look for bigger vehicle.

Love that it has iOS CarPlay but it seems like its fallen short in a few areas particularly leg room in the rear.. 2L engine.. and wind noise in cabin..sad really.. that Lexus coming out fell so short when compared to others in this class.

I like how Lexus has different interior layouts for each one of their cars. Most car manufacturers keep the same interior layout for each of their models(BMW)
Speaking of the C-HR this is based on, can you try reviewing the 2019 model year of it? (numerous updates were made to it). Even then though, the UX may be a bit less flawed than the C-HR, I still think it is an overall good (and welcome) new entry into this segment. Just needs more polishing on the powertrain for me to rate it significantly higher (yes, I know, the new 2.0L I4 and CVT are wonderful new powertrains when I tried out the new Corolla Hatchback, but they simply won't work in an entry-level luxury vehicle like this. Hell, they would work a helluva lot better if they were in the C-HR than in this thing).
I like the Redline shirt but I feel like I see a missed opportunity with the first "R" on the shirt design. it'd be really cool if the R was done up like a tachometer. Use the second leg of the R as the gauge needle and the top where it curves as the RPM range on the tach, have them be white tally lines that transition from white to red and become thicker solid lines until it forms the R. Then the rest of the R is red.

Incandescent front indicators, okay but come on Lexus new generation of buyers may have Android or both especially for work. Great review and your cameraman is out of the frame mostly. Would Sofyan consider camera drone usage.
Younger buyers with 40K to throw away on a small hatchback could buy a better looking mid sized sedan for half the price. Is this Lexus rig really more practical than a 16K Kia Rio hatchback? Why is the grill three times bigger than needed for engine cooling?
Well some want higher road height this is why you save and buy the chr which is identical in handling and suspension. Engine not so much but heck far cheaper.
For the same reason why compact crossovers sell at all: because they're crossovers. Doesn't matter if they're shittier at doing their job than hatchbacks and wagons. They'll sell because of the word "crossover." Talking with people who aren't very interested in cars in general, I've pretty much concluded that people don't bother researching cars in the slightest. They'll walk into the dealership (or see an ad), look at a car, and if it looks cool, they'll consider it. In today's world, "looks cool" is basically anything that's a crossover or SUV. May as well as why people buy the Subaru Crosstrek over the Impreza hatchback that's essentially the exact same vehicle, but just rides a little lower. People love their crossovers, no matter how impractical (or, in this case, the same) they are.
Sedans are for older adults/elderly that do not know how to park or do not live in the city. Also, they have no need to carry cargo which the UX has double the cargo volume trunk and full span with seats down compared to a sedan. These small compact vehicles are for us young professionals.
When it's floored... it reminds me of my old Kirby vacuum when it sucked one of the animals up into it .... That old Kirby... I miss it.... didn't need an amplified active noise control. You always knew when it got a hold of something and didn't want to let it go...
Glaekenn I use my iPhone for my everyday stuff. But whenever I’m in a car with android Auto I usually use my Galaxy S 7. I think android Auto is better than CarPlay imo
Wish they could have an engine upgrade. Can i atleast get a 190-200 hp engine? I get its not supposed to be fast but it shouldnt have prius performance for 45-50 grand
It’ll probably replace my CT200H as I’m due for a test drive some time next year (The Hybrid version that is)...I will probably replace my wife’s RX350 with the New RAV4 Hybrid in a few years & keep my ES300H til it breaks down (wonder how long that’ll take). I’ve NEVER had issues with any of my Lexus’s so I’m sticking with what I know & I’m use too....I have an Apple phone as well.
Because no direct connection from engine to rear drive, it'd make a great car for Lexus to introduce an AWD manual. When you have a manual transmission with a premium 2.0L NA engine, it's hard to justify the Turbo.

I own an RX and simply drive in ECO mode all the time, big engine is not necessary in city or highway. You are just going between traffic jams. Btw iPhone owner wish my car had Apple play.
That brightness in the video...
Incandescent front indicators, okay but come on Lexus new generation of buyers may have Android or both especially for work. Great review and your cameraman is out of the frame mostly. Would Sofyan consider camera drone usage.
Can I recommend you use a rotating polarize filter on your lens . It’s really help with those glares and take some of the reflection of the car .
They'll sell because of the word "crossover."
Talking with people who aren't very interested in cars in general, I've pretty much concluded that people don't bother researching cars in the slightest.
People love their crossovers, no matter how impractical (or, in this case, the same) they are.
because lexus does not want people to forget their cars and its very ugly on the suv's
it looks cool
Sedans are for older adults/elderly that do not know how to park or do not live in the city. Also, they have no need to carry cargo which the UX has double the cargo volume trunk and full span with seats down compared to a sedan. These small compact vehicles are for us young professionals.
Both my parents have Android Phones and they own an GS.
That was such a stupid excuse to give for not including Android Auto.
Exactly. Im looking at buying a Lexus, I own an iphone but look at buying an android device next. Stupid.
Even Kia cars have both so I can't for the life of me understand this. Not everyone owns an Iphone.
Android has a larger market share then Apple, so lexus is lying
Perhaps most of their customers use iphones
Lexus GS with Apple phone here.
This needs more power to be a Lexus !
When it's floored... it reminds me of my old Kirby vacuum when it sucked one of the animals up into it ....
That old Kirby... I miss it.... didn't need an amplified active noise control.
You always knew when it got a hold of something and didn't want to let it go...
This car was not designed for the highway. It is literally an Urban Explorer (UX). It is meant almost exclusively for in city driving.
Android phone here...not supporting android auto is a deal-breaker for me.
Glaekenn I use my iPhone for my everyday stuff. But whenever I’m in a car with android Auto I usually use my Galaxy S 7. I think android Auto is better than CarPlay imo
Im fine without it
Great Review Of 2019 Lexus UX. 😀
Does it have more backseat space than Lexus IS?
Did I see an Acura key in the center storage compartment?
Noticed the slight change in yer "R" on yer redline shirt. 👍🏾✅
Wish they could have an engine upgrade. Can i atleast get a 190-200 hp engine? I get its not supposed to be fast but it shouldnt have prius performance for 45-50 grand
You might mention if they have spare tires.
It’ll probably replace my CT200H as I’m due for a test drive some time next year (The Hybrid version that is)...I will probably replace my wife’s RX350 with the New RAV4 Hybrid in a few years & keep my ES300H til it breaks down (wonder how long that’ll take).
I’ve NEVER had issues with any of my Lexus’s so I’m sticking with what I know & I’m use too....I have an Apple phone as well.
sethy1 Oh you love Lexus? Good to know, now you stop your shilling.
I like the looks of the side mirrors from the front a lot
Manual and cvt trans ? Is it reliable?
I have a 2002 Lexus ES300, and I have an iPhone. I still love the car, despite the age. Just wish I had an aux input.
I put a 7 inch screen in my 1997 lexus es for $300. I dont need to get a car payment to get bluetooth
Is it true this replaces the CT 200?
I don't know where they got that %80 from, I own android for the past 7 years and a lot of other friends and family that own lexus.
Why didnt they put the 2.5 from the 2018 Camry?
Wait this is the same cvt from the Corolla too, what's the weight of this vehicle??
The side profile looks like the new Mazda CX 30 is this a new segment in compact SUVs?
Is this a rebadged Toyota Corolla hatchback? If so they should make a 6MT
At $34k the Mazda CX-5 turbo becomes a much better option, with arguably better quality interior and better looking.
Because no direct connection from engine to rear drive, it'd make a great car for Lexus to introduce an AWD manual. When you have a manual transmission with a premium 2.0L NA engine, it's hard to justify the Turbo.
Omg when you floored it I literally LOL 🤣🤣🤣
17:02 the CVT slipped 👀
Such a sweet looking predator suv🤗🤗😗
Do a company video for the ux250h and the ct200h as new vs old entry level Lexus vehicles.
Sofyan did this drive more like a car or an SUV?
Lexus only paid attention to kids on how comfortable the back seat is. What disappointed me was the hard touch plastic. OUCH!!!!
Bruh, it's suppose to be the cheapest Lexus, have to cut something
@@stevornrichards1380 But BMW, Mercedes, and Audi don't. Lexus = fake luxury car
@@aayangoverski3437 how much for those other brands again? There's something called niche marketing, look it up
@@stevornrichards1380 dam ur right. My bad
