In Matthew 23:23 and Luke 11:42 Jesus referred to tithing as something that should not be neglected… “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices-mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law-justice, mercy and faithfulness". Here, Christ didn't condemn tithing but didn't want us to neglect some more important things which are centred around loving God and loving our neighbours. Many anti-tithing preachers, from my personal perspective, are only devising a way of endearing themselves to a larger Christian population who don't like to give. But these Christians are eventually preyed upon by the anti-tithing preachers through some other means, eg book sales, etc.

The issue is tithing as an obligation, legal, a prerequisite for blessings is no longer applicable. Even if by your interpretation, Jesus was talking about, he was talking to Jews, they were still living under the law at that time because Jesus hasn’t died and resurrected.

Dr, what you succeeded in explaining in your references particularly in the book of Hebrew is the demolition of the law of Moses with their attendant contradictions. The old practice of worship, forgiveness of sin and reconciliation to God is completely abolished. Our forefathers in Nigeria were also caught up in the old worship practice. Thank God the Churches understand the change. The Churches do not worship using animals but through Holy Communion, prayers and thanksgiving. Roman Catholic Churches don’t emphasize tithing either. Pentecostal churches do. But tithing originated before the law in the days of Melchizedek and Abrahamic era. Jesus is in the order of Melchizedek, not Moses or Levites. Now, Melchizedek and Abraham tithing policy is being relegated to the background? Or how do we explain it. Except if you are saying that lesser emphasis should be placed instead.
