My model railway story began with a clockwork Thomas the Tank Engine train set, of Hornby status. Jumping into my present Cat Valley Steam Railway in Preservation era, I now have a collection of both Hornby and Bachmann steamies. I'm bringing this collection up to 30 steam engines, the 30th steam engine in question being none other than an iconic NRM resident: City of Truro. Bachmann Style, that is. I love both Hornby and Bachmann steam engines equally. Having said that, Bachmann now have the license for Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends. This new Bachmann model engine and rolling stock range is due to be released June or July 2020. I'm eagerly awaiting this to come our way.
I am eagerly awaiting the Stevenson's Rocket as I have one on pre order. I have been after one for ages but the originals are rare to find and just as expensive as the new higher detail model.
The original model is really a toy of it's time, this is much more a scale model - there's no comparison detail-wise. (ps. It's Stephenson's Rocket. There's no 'v' in the name...)
My Hornby story began in 1966 with the then , Triang 0-4-0 Connie loco, operating helecopter wagon and ambulance coach. A Christmas present. The poor helecopter was eventually battered to death after constantly hitting the ceiling as it was launched from the wagon. Connie no longer runs now. I would love to see Connie, Nelly and Polly rereleased . They would fit nicely with the Railroad range. Perhaps a radio controlled version of the Helecopter wagon could be an updated version. Much less likely to crash into the ceiling!

I do enjoy these videos very much, I have owned Hornby (then Tri-ang) since 1953 when a boy. But, please, do you really have to use the slightly out of focus effect. My humble opinion is that it does not really help.
Thanks for another great `signal box`...love the Rocket BUT why run the set without a crew ! would possibly help with traction and are the coupling chains the wrong way round , otherwise Brilliant
Hi Anthony, Thanks for watching! Unfortunately I was only able to get my hands on a development sample (As it has been selling like hot cakes) , the sample did not include the crew. I know the team have worked hard to ensure the best quality when it reaches your doorstep. I was under impression that Mike was going to see if the 1920's model train works, instead we had the reproduction version running round the track. Where is the reproduction one manufactured?
The studio cam being focused on mike is a wee bit blurry/low def. You either need better lighting; to focus the camera properly; or get a better camera.
Will this Corna Virus cause any delays with models coming in from China. It seems that flights from china are being limited? Or are these models already in the UK for dispatching to the dealers?
When is Hornby going to produce a Z class 0-8-0T of southern region or a Leader class or a decent Garrett to compete against the Hejlan version which is unreliable. Or maybe the U1 LNER garratt You could use the 8 F. 2-8-0 wheel set as a basis
Really worrying to see the amount of wheel slip and stiff wheel sets on that Rocket sample. If that’s the best you can show us of an imminent model can we expect better from the examples landing on doorsteps in the next few weeks?
Hi Alex, Thanks for watching! I can confirm the sample I got my hands on was a development sample from some months ago. The imminent models are of the highest quality - Mike

Ooof - can't help thinking you'd have been better off NOT showing the very poor running Rocket in motion, even accepting it is a development sample. Hope it doesn't put people off. How about getting Arnold to do an N gauge model???
@@mattlander9119 That's no barrier. In the past Arnold collaborated with Railex to produce the Saxonia, and Minitrix did a model of Der Adler (I have two of those) plus their own version of Saxonia. They're both small locos similar to Rocket from the early history of railways :-)
A new loco control app with sounds built in & NO new TTS or Sound Models sets alarm bells ringing because you develop a cheaper chip then don't use them? The sound needs to come from the Loco not the device controlling it. Okay as a simple way into modelling but, not a replacement for a good controller.
