- On tonight's elections debate, political parties debate about the high rate of crime in the country. The debate was held at Langa Community hall in the Western Cape.
ANC was represented by Bheki Cele, PA by Cheslyn Steenberg, DA by Ian Cameron, EFF by Nazier Paulsen, Good Party was represented by Brett Herron and Al Jama-ah by Advocate Shameemah Salie.

What boggles my mind is how all these political parties say "The DA has failed in policing".
Last time I checked the SAPS is part of government.
And the ANC is government, the DA is NOT the government.

People keep talking about wanting policing resources in their area... do they pay tax? Do thy pay rates and levies to the municipality?
All the informal settlements that are just a problem, do they contribute ANYTHING at all to the taxbase that pays for police? No.
Then they must shut up.
Get what you pay for. Everything free and most fled EC to become a burden to us ratepayers
@veronicakarstel9126 You sound delusional. Townships are big contributers to South Africas economy. The police department is not funded based on how much property levies and taxes you pay. Read the budget speech. Since crime is destroying our economy and these communities are sources of some criminals, members of these communities feel that more policing will mitigate some of the extreme forms of criminality in their area. Your comment indicates to me you do not recognise these people in townships as human beings worthy of basic rights. You talk about money when the conversation is about human lives and longterm stability. There is no law prohibiting the free movement of any South Africa to greener pastures. Western Cape is not an independent state nor will it ever become one - more and more black people will migrate there until you can't tell who is black and who is not, that will help you from discriminating people based on the colour of their skin.

Silly to ask a criminal how to get rid of crime in South Africa. The ANC are contributing to SA's high crime rates so how can we expect them to fix it??
It all start at home, we should teach our family, kids, neighborhood, citizens that crime is wrong, this criminals have parents family, we complain about crime and we protect them, we don't assist but we know, we with hold information, most of us is part of the problem, we the citizens protect this criminals.
Clearly, these institutions are not communicating and working together and hence the people suffer. Clearly, there is a benefit to the chaos.

Political parties should campaign until the elections. After elections whoever is in power should stop politics and start to service the people. They can only win crime if they put their ideas and resources together and not focusing on individual political parties of who is the winner. Why can the army not be utilized to assist gang related crime ridden areas in the country. The current government have no political will to some crime or gaangsterism as the majority crimes are I the so-called colored mixed communities who does not support the current government. The government is also claiming taxes on those insurance claims.

Large majority of DAs spending go on informal settlements despite the fact that they don't always pay for the services. If rate payers don't get serviced, they leave. How else do you expect the DA to keep rate payers in wp without giving them what they paid for?
The fact of the matter is that only one of the panelists actually do work on the ground, and are involved in the communities. The rest are just yapping rhetoric.
