    A very useful and easily consumable video. Nicely done.
    Also you've just revived 2 of my mags and saved me £50. Many thanks!

    I need to thank you. I’ve got an Army Armenent or what ever the name is, m1911 which is gas blow back. It’s been leaky for absolutely ages and a new magazine is like £20-£30 which is mental. I tried this and boom, it’s working right a way. Thanks mate

    Man i love internet. I am just working on getting me license for firearms, so meanwhile i got myself my first airsoft gun for dry firing. Totally obssesed, how its almost like real gun - dissasembly and weight. Today my gun stopped shooting. I was so damn furious. I saw this vid and was thinking that it cant be! But realized one of cartridges did go out quickly and my valve is not working properly. So i did what you recorded. Man.. It works now perfectly fine. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

    What if mag is leaking from the top ? I fill it from bottom and its just going thru it and from the top going out

    • @tbv_shorts
      @tbv_shorts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Then your top seal is leaking, try it upside down in the water but it's a long shot, if the top seals are failing this fix is not likely to work but it might work in a pinch on site, if you're at home, order replacement seals in and replace them

      did you stick the top in the water? since it’s co2

    • @M07HPROD
      @M07HPROD 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@onPoint00 as it turns out, if you do it with a CO2 tank still inside, it has a tendency to build up so much pressure it shoots through the valve and destroys it, so I recommend removing the CO2 first, contrary to what I did. I placed my magazine in around 70°C hot water and let it sit for a while, although it is only a temporary fix. If you want a more long term solution I recommend trying silicone based lubricant or a lubricated CO2 canister to rehydrate the rubber in the valve.
      P.S. Check if your warranty is still in date, if you play your cards right they'll most likely just fix it for you.

    • @onPoint00
      @onPoint00 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@M07HPROD i spayed some silicon lubricate on the rubber and it didn’t do anything, so i took it apart i guess i put something in wrong cause now it just shoots it out immediately instead of slow leaking. i’m gonna try this and see what it does

    • @tbv_shorts
      @tbv_shorts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The tolerances on gas magazines are much finer than you'd imagine, I've removed what look like perfect seals that were leaky only to put new ones in and it and it be tight as a drum.
      If its not the seals or the valve then it might be the magazine body itself that is damaged, what looks like a small dent can be a massive problem.

    I have a paintball marker that takes CO2 capsules.
    Prob is, the valve is at the bottom of the sealed plastic handle. Now, this may sound daft, could I then pour hot water down where you insert the capsule and will that work or will I just have a wet knackered gun?

    • @tbv_shorts
      @tbv_shorts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No idea but it doesn't sound great, no water enters the mag using this method it's the heat transfer and gas pressure that makes it work, I can't say if what you're describing works but I doubt it would given your description

    • @GroundFrog69
      @GroundFrog69 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was very dubious, too.
      So I heated the kettle to the same extent you did and thought why not? I poured in a very small amount and bugger me it worked! I tell you, I had ditched that marker and now it's gone back in the "last resort" rack!
      Btw, I have a few magazine loading guns that take co2s and if they play up I will be trying your method. Great vid.

    That is freakin’ brilliant!
    Does it work for the gas release valve up top?

    • @tbv_shorts
      @tbv_shorts  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends on the damage on the valve, if its just dried out rubber components and seals it has a chance, if its the metal parts it won't stand a chance

    • @George.___
      @George.___ หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tbv_shortsof course, metal parts are seldom the issue fortunately.
      I ask because my co2 release valve for a steel BB GBB 1911 leaks out the front of the valve. Occasionally tiny dirt particles get between the hard plastic seal and the conical sealing surface of the metal pin the hammer moves to release the gas.
      I cleaned it carefully but it’s still leaking. So, it’s either the plastic seal is dented or hopefully only the oring.
      Is there any place that sells those plastic seals?

    • @tbv_shorts
      @tbv_shorts  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @George.___ no idea on that one, none of my kit is steel bb shooting or co2, I've been out of the airsoft scene for a while now so I'm not massively up on retailers these days

    • @George.___
      @George.___ หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tbv_shortsno problem, thanks for the reply.
      If it’s any help, I thought of a potential way to fix a buggered up plastic seal. Heat the top of the metal pin that seats on the plastic with a soldering iron briefly so it softens the plastic and makes a new sealing surface for itself.
      Haven’t tried it yet and it could be tricky but your method inspired the idea.
      Thanks again and be safe out there on roads while on 2 wheels! It’s always other drivers that get you.

      Heat transfer is an effective tool used in the motor trade for years (having bearings in the freezer is a common one to get them to fit in tight spots or putting them in a deep fat frier full of hot oil to make them expand for fitting on a tight shaft) this is basically just that but on a smaller/lower temperature scale

    • @tbv_shorts
      @tbv_shorts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If its venting after a couple of shots it could be a whole host of issues, it could be your mag seals being worn out, it could be a damaged mag valve, could be a recoil spring or hammer spring, could be a build up of dirt on or in your slide or body of your gun. There's a lot of reasons for it venting as you describe.

    • @tbv_shorts
      @tbv_shorts  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @denysfedoriv106 The first thing you need to do is fully strip and clean the gun and put it back together with decent quality lubrication on all the moving parts. From what you are stating, it sounds like you either have a buildup of dirt from somewhere stopping things from moving as they should or a damaged seal somewhere that is allowing the mag to vent its gas. Either way you'll need to strip the gun down so may as well start with a damn good cleaning before anything else

      Not usually, if you keep some gas in the magazine when storing them and regular maintenance generally stop the seals from shrinking or decaying. This is a quick fix that can reseal a magazine in a pinch, it shouldn't be used as a repeated fix or a long term maintenance plan. All depends on the damage done to the seal originally, I've done this to mags and had them go on to last for years and I've done it to mags and it last 10 minutes. If the seal is too far gone then it won't last. But, if the seal is just dried out a touch then it saves stripping the mag and fitting a new seal.
