Loved watching this video! What 99% of trainers do in long rambling forever never ending sessions, you accomplished in 4 minutes. Love u for it! Excellent. Great examples, wonderfully edited video clip.
This is exactly the technique I´ve been using on my rescue. He is responding really well to it. His increasingly polite behavior is making it really easy for him to make human and dog friends - so it´s a win win for everyone!
ThankYou for a clear lesson. I have a 6year old English Springer and he is very strong. and at 75 years I am not. He is a loving dog and with the help of your lessons will be a pleasure to own.
I recently started to apply your set of rules on my children and I have to say that it is just amazing! Now I don't have problem with them rushing out of the crate: they just calmly sit on the ground until I open crate or entrance door. It's amazing! Didn't work for my dog though, but I am patient about that. Thanks!
Really good video, very calm and polite delivery :) Funnily enough, this kind of impulse control also works on humans with your brain as the dog and you as the dog owner. Cheers
Jennifer, i have 3.5 year old Lab. this video is great, can you also advise me how to teach my dog not to get excited when she meet new people . one big problem is that people make her excited when greeting too. when my dog excited she pee. any advise would be great.
Thanks for this lovely video, Dr. Cattet. I'm subscribing to your channel and I am including this link for my students in our new "Fido, Focus!" self control class.
I have a pit bull mix I use a baby gate instead of a create she doesn’t try to get out of it she will lay there calmly however she is super hyper sometimes so having her sit at the door can take a while sometimes
I took my puppy from a dog foster home about a year ago. I love him to bits; he has a great personality, and I feel that he loves our family so much. BUT he barks A LOT. . So, leaving home is always a challenge for us. My husband and I were thinking about taking him to 'doggy school', but then again, it’s extremely expensive, and the nearest 'doggy school' is far away from us. Maybe you have some advice? THANK YOU!!!!
Jennifer, thank you so much for the video. My dog doesn't Jump on me but only Jump when visitors come, can you explain me how to correct this behavior?
Very interesting video. I'm planing on getting a dog and this is the kind of things I want to get down right away. One question thought, about the part where you ignored the dog when it was jumping on you. Once the dog learns to calm down to get your attention, will that behavior carry over to other people "automatically"? As in. A: The dog associate the sought after behavior with greeting just YOU? or B: The association works for greetings in general, regardless of who it is greeting? Thanks in advance :)
Ah, I wish I had seen this years ago!! One question. If I have four rescue dogs, how do I teach them as a group to wait till their bowls are on the ground and they are sitting before going to their food (and hopefully not the food of one of the other dogs!)
teach a release word- putting bowl on ground does not mean release- saying the word means release- in this video she used the word "release." I use "ok."
What about biting? My puppy of four months and I have gotten her several toys and nylabones and she keeps biting hard i have tried the walk away and ignore several times but she keeps at it or will bite my ankles while I'm turning...HELP
Ames RN she's only trying to play with you. A dog's skin is harder than a human's and they play with each other by biting. Since your dog doesn't have another dog to play with (or bite) he or she goes to you. Distract her, maybe show your dog a toy and throw it.
In the beginning you should train your dogs individually. Once each has grasped the behaviors then you can move up to a couple dogs at a time. Then eventually to all dogs. But training individually is the easiest way to train any new behavior, not only for the dogs but trainer as well. In this case no one is over stimulated or tasked.
I wish my dog was this excited to eat😅he is so skinny and he leaves his food sitting, but i dont like picking it up bc he eats at weird times :/ when he was a puppy he used to wait for the bowl and gobble it up when i gave the command, but now that he’s the only pet he doesn’t care🤨
Hey, The fastest training that I have ever had was with Dog discipline magic (i found it on google) Definitely the most useful dog obedience system that I have ever tried.
You need to take the steps before the dog feels he needs to react 'bite' You should diagnose WHY the dog feels the need to bite... Why and when does the dog bite? Dogs, (unless mouthing) Won't bite someone without a reason!!!
Douglas Tisdale Stonnie Dennis has some good videos as about impulse control as well. And one about dogs that mouth a lot. I haven't seen any specifically about biting, but I'm guessing to correct this behavior you would have to go back to the beginning. Also, you may want to get help from a professional dog trainer because that is a big problem.
Elizabeth O'Hair my dog does not bite. I was being completely sarcastic based on the terrible advice given. I train dogs and the method offered to fix the behavior will not work and will lead to more mouthing and biting.
Douglas Tisdale you’re stupid lol. This is not for biting. If a dog is biting u then u do anything u can to minimize the damage the dog is doing to you. LIMA least invasive minimally aversive.
@@forestheartservicepack2692 Dogs give desperate calming signals throughout the video, the trainer looks like Tutankhamon, no smile, no friendly invite, nada.

Short and sweet.
Simple tips, clearly explained with no waffle.

Just did it and started working nice video 👍🏼

Jana Varbe Oh, hey! Some time passed, huh? Now my dog is calm too!
Феофан Это поле должно быть заполнено ...... you're weird
Jana Varbe why?
Do you beat the dog like you beat the kids?
BRILLIANT Video!! Such straightforward, calm, repetitive training - the best!!
It has worked for the food (in 3 days) for my 10 (ten yes ) years old Parson Russel who was like a foolish on her plate before !!! thank you.
Teaching your dog calm and polite behavior
Jennifer Cattet yes my foster is the same way. it really does take patience and repetition. awesome video I definitely subscribed 😌😌
You deserved subscription.

@@pagnepapi6410 Now my husky listens to me very nicely. When I say sit lay down shake hand she does it!! Thank you so much. She learned it

Perfect example of "resetting" when dog behaves in an undesirable manner! Lovely!!
Nice video. What about if the dog wants something he can not have? For instance, we can't play ping pong in our house because the dog wants the ball.
Good video!!

Which breed is the black one?
What if he sits and whines at same time
I'm wondering if you know what type of dog your tan dog is? I'm assuming some type of hound but she looks a lot like mine. :-)
I have multiple dog's that jump on me and others when coming inside. Can multiple dog's be trained at the same time?

Wow thxxx
If humans are trained to control their impulses lives could be saved. Just saying..
This is so true!
If any animal could control there impulses livea could be saved.
I found the best way to train your dog at tinyurl.com/DogTraining588 all you guys should try it. Hope this will help….

They beat the dog, right?
if your dog doesn't paw or bark at the door a little how do u know they want in?
give i-phone radio.
Dognyres Mother of Pitbulls, because they stand at the door and look at you?
they should sms you (if, of course, you allow them so)
Why do you crate a dog? Curious. . .
I've got 4 dogs and I've tried all of these tips on them and none of them work. Tried it for years now and still nothing
Girl u thick 😂😍
So if my dog is biting and causing injury I should just ignore it and wait for a better behavior?????
You need to take the steps before the dog feels he needs to react 'bite'

Dog licking his lips though.
and whale eyes, looking aside and overall not comfortable in the presence of the trainer :(
*click* GREAT video.
That dog still shows rude behaviors by jumping and darting out of the cage.
That is NOT polight or calm.
Ill "sit" 4 ur attention too!
My dogs will literally eat me alive if i dont put down the food
It isn't yelling and pushing the dog over , on their side or back is a natural way for it to learn not to do what is undesirable.
My dogs stupid
Старая советская школа ...украли методику и как всегда перекаверкали.
Is it not faster to beat the dog?
nacho jimenez That's a very good question, man.
nacho jimenez, that's animal abuse!
How would you like it if someone beat the crap out of you for every little thing you do wrong?
You wouldn't be asking this had your parents beaten you 😂
