Really? Jeff always shows up in fresh-pressed shorts and shirt. Were we supposed to believe he was experiencing Survivor like a contestant? Never crossed my mind.
He wasn’t suggesting that he should do that at allllllll. He literally said that. He was just saying there are aspects of the game jeff will never understand cause he’s never experienced it.
What does Rich know? He hasn't seen much of the current game at all. This would be like resurrecting a civil war soldier and asking them about the modern-day military.
This started out as a nice and insightful video about the crew, then it turned into a needless Probst bashing... Dude, we wanna see you play against Russell, stop putting videos out against Jeff. He not gonna let you on if you do stuff like this, and nor should he.
Richard is holding on to hope that he can play again one day. He has to realize that these Jeff Probst “bashings”, as true as they may be, aren’t helping his case to return to the show. Why? Because Jeff Probst is the one who ultimately determines who is going to appear on the seasons. Why would Jeff reward someone like Richard a chance to play again knowing that Richard has bashed him countless of times? And if Probst’s ego is as big as you say it is, he’s definitely not going to take the high ground and grant you another chance to play.
His chances of playing again are definitely over. This was truly his only chance for this season and the fact that he got dropped a few days before is just guna add fuel to his fire. Richard will always have hard feelings towards Jeff and will even more so now speak his mind about some of the truths of survivor
But rich was one of the people that got it off the ground... from day one you wanted to see rich and Rudy and what would go on . If season two was season one there wouldn’t have been a second season
I think CBS has more control over who appears on the show than Probst, because I know back in Micronesia, CBS really wanted Fairplay to return. Probst didn’t want him to return, but CBS really didn’t care
Hey Richard, love your videos. Something that bothers me about your criticism: it's unclear to me how you know so much about the inner workings of the show; how jeff truly is behind the scenes, etc., when you only played two seasons over 15 years ago. Can you speak to how you are so knowledgeable about the show after all this time?
He knows this because hes been here since the first season of survivor ans was the first winner so ofc he probably kept intouch with jeff and has been in the BTS for 2 seasons years apart to see how the show and how jeff has evolved obviously
He is literally the OG survivor and likely meets TONS of contestants from the other seasons and they all love to share and compare their experiences. He, more than most people can truly know what it was like from the beginning and understand the evolution season to season.
When survivors from different seasons meet, they literally compare and contrast their experiences, Hatch is still a keen observer and student (Maybe PROFESSOR) of the game at this point
Richard has a big EGO, Jeff is good at doing what he is doing that's the bottom line ( people will criticize successful people). SURViVOR is successful because of Probst, no one can do a better job than he can hosting that show.
Bottom line. I've been watching it since Season 1. And of course there have been some Seasons I like more than others, but in general I always enjoy it because of the reason it started in the first place. Taking random people and dropping them in an uninhabited location with very few supplies, that then compete in challenges to try and last 39 days to then be voted a million dollar prize by a jury that were also participants in the game.. I keep it simple. I don't get caught up in the politics of it or judge the people that participate because it's just a TV show and I appreciate the entertainment value of it. Anyone who signs up for it or works on the crew go through a lot to provide fans with this glimpse into such a unique and dramatic social experiment. It's my favorite show.

True. But Survivor was a lot more popular back in the early 2000s than now, and it seems for most people playing it the money is less important than just being on the show.
@@ResettisReplicas True. But inflation goes up about 3% per year. That means in the 20 years since Survivor debuted, that 1 million is worth 60% less in buying power. It's still a huge amount of money, but it is kind of cheap of CBS to not increase it, given how much money they make off that show.

The key event was that a crew member was somehow harassed while the contestants were getting in a boat after a challenge. Does anyone know exactly what happened there? Unless you do, you cannot say things were handled wrong. Keep in mind, Dan was already given a warning. Maybe by habit, he made a comment to a lady as they hopped into the boat, or maybe it was something worse? Who knows. But the fact is, he was already warned and should have known better. Maybe the host needs to participate in a whole season physically, I sure would watch that one and it could only have positive results for the host, the fans and the productions crew. He would gain respect world wide if ego is a factor, and fundamentally change the way he looks at the survivors for the life of this game. challenge given Jeff Probst :)
I always felt something was a bit off with Probst, but I never could validate it with any evidence. This vid makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the insight, Rich! Can anyone validate the rumor I heard about Jeff not liking players like Vecepia? I also heard from Andrew Savage that Burnett treated Dara from Season 7 like crap when she fell ill and was "holding up production" during a challenge.
Every video on your channel helps me flesh out a fuller picture of a production that I've been piecing together for years now. This channel is an avalanche of new info, although I often wish you would, or could, provide more specific examples. I sense that a secondary mission of yours with this channel is to become a popularly selected producer or host of an updated Survivor. I support that. Your understanding of and vision for the show accentuates the qualities of reality TV that I value whereas the current show moves further from it. I still love it for what it is and can be. Cheerio.
Maybe Jeff Probst & the execs need to do a season involving him, the execs & the crew, then maybe they would understand it better. I would definitely watch that season!!!‼️
jesse038100 there’s a great TH-cam video on 5 times players “broke” the game. The contestants broke the auction in Season 30 when there were three players (Dan, Mike, and Carolyn) who held out for the advantage and ended up having to draw rocks for it. At that point the auction was pointless.
@@Emeraldowl13 thanks for the input, honestly I enjoyed the eating challenges but the auction seemed fun, perhaps it may come back in a new way at some point, but thanks a bunch for the information!
Just because Probst decided at the last minute not to select you for season 40 doesn't mean he ignores players perspectives of the game. I think he actually enjoys hearing them, especially if they are unusual. I also think he appreciates your contribution to Survivor. He simply did not feel you were appropriate for season 40 given the controversy you would have created after what happened in season 39 and your last season. I mean after all, you allowed that inappropriate touch to happen. Whether it was intentional or not, in today's world, one does not even allow the chance of that to happen. Can't blame it on the producers. It was your choice to run the challenge naked, knowing that could happen. Such a choice in that situation or in similar situations is just totally unacceptable nowadays, as made apparent in season 39. So thus you weren't selected. Simple as that. No reason to bash anyone over it. Just learn from it. Apologize, instead of acting like it wasn't your fault and maybe in the future, you might have another chance.
Michael John Wow, John, why not learn what happened before advising someone who was there? There was no “touch.” The incident was entirely of Sue’s making, and Probst is well aware of that. My perspective of Probst has formed over 20 years, and it is not informed by the edited footage you’ve seen.
@@RichHatch I'm surprised she would quit over a made-up story. But if that's true, she probably thought at the time it happened, then realized later for whatever reason, it never happened. Seems weird to me. But regardless, you have to realize it was poor judgement to run such a challenge naked in today's environment. Back then? Maybe you have a point it might have been encouraged, at your ultimate expense unfortunately.
Hi Rich, tell us about possibility of making international version of survivor with players from all over the world, do you think this would be success on TV? I heard Jeff saying its not possible to make because of insurance. ..however not necessary to make it on CBC.
Rich is actually right about this SAN Juan Del Sur Natalie said her and Nadiya planned to not reveal they were on amazing race next minute episode 1 Probst asks the two as amazing race participants in front of everyone .... boom nadiya gone ref SurvivorOz interview
Interesting to hear someone speak a little negatively about Jeff Probst. Not that he's really tearing into him, just that he's shedding some light on the other side of Jeff Probst than what you see on Survivor, which is almost the only way I know anything about him at all. The only other thing I have ever heard about him is that he can have a bit of a temper.
Hey Rich, I've been thinking a lot about the end of this season. I feel Survivor most likely won't have a live reunion special because of the current global situation, but is there even enough footage to make an ending? Do producers film alternate readings of the votes before the live shows as a backup?
Can you explain what you mean? Why wouldn't there be enough footage. And what's up in regards to alternate endings if it's a reality show? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm just not understanding. Thanks
@@tamarahorn1506 the seasons are taped months in advanced, and then the votes are read live at the reunion special, but can they even gather together to do that because of stay at home orders? I just wonder if they film alternate readings of the final votes just in case something like this happens. Doesn't matter, they have a live show date now, so there's my answer
The prize money for all players should all be doubled at least. Currently you can go through all the process and put yourself up for the humiliation of being a first boot for like 2500 bucks.
I took a break after watching season 25 and picked it back up recently starting with season 40 since I saw it was all winners and the biggest disappointment was you not being on it. I figured you for whatever reason didn't want to do it, but hearing how Probst's ego was the reason for you not being asked is such a shame. They should of had you on not just 40, but they should have had you on heroes vs villains along with one or more of the fan vs favorites...also Rich, if you read this, is there any way that I could get an autograph for my father? It has been a family joke all the way back to season 1 that you look exactly like him and his name is also Richard.🙏
Survivor was better earlier on. Two much sensitivity and creature comforts now. As someone had said, sometimes it feels like a retreat or Outward Bound. Want to see a better Survivor, watch Survivors Australia, 47-50 days, tougher challenges that rarely repeat, more time spent on tribal scheming. Just don't watch the first two seasons (1 & 2) when it was cancelled, watch the reboot. (4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12)
Why is the crew supposed to suffer? Can you imagine them all on the next beach, building shelters, making fire and fishing, in between production work, LOL.
Um... I dunno. I respect Hatch a lot but this seems bitter. Hard feelings I guess? I'm not sure what value is produced here. Are we just mad at Jeff based on who he invites? Is it that we should be doing more as a production for the Fijians? Or are we mad that producers aren't starving in hovels? I'm in favour of Hatch, or anyone else, speaking out on any issues or problems or views or whatever that he, or anyone, feels like. I'm not into censoring or cancelling anything or anybody. I'm just not sure that I'm following along anymore. I can see why Hatch would have bitterness in his heart, given the way he got fucked by the justice system, and now feels like he got fucked by Survivor production also. But this content is striking me as just an airing of grievances. Rich: I'm a subscriber, and I want to follow you. But I also want to enjoy your content. I don't understand why production living large is a complaint. I don't know why you hate Jeff so much except that he didn't invite you back (he couldn't after Season 39. Rightly or wrongly. Surely a man of your intelligence can appreciate that). This is starting to feel a little bit like whining every time I click, and in the middle of the best season of Survivor in years. It makes me want to click less, feel me? All the best, -Phil L.
Great video Richard, I was wondering if you could make one about the old school/new school dynamic of this season and what it means for the strategic element of the game.
Hey Rich, if at the final 3 in Borneo ,Kelly had voted you out instead of Rudy putting you on the jury, who would you have voted to win the game, Kelly or Rudy?
I think season 2 was the best. It seemed like the early seasons of survivor were way more brutal. I'm currently binging all the seasons and I'm on Africa right now season 3. Did y'all hear about Michael supkin from season 2 that got burnt? I looked him up on Wikipedia to see what happened to him after those days and turns out he went to jail for embezzlement and possession of child pornography.
I agree with Richard Hatch here about the handling of season 39. It was certainly reprehensible the way Probst etc decided to indulge the histrionics of an SJW princess who should have been weeded out in the audition process. They were so desperate to appear politically correct they didn’t care that they destroyed a man’s life. I was prepared to give up on Survivor after that, but then season 40 was announced with Boston Rob’s participation and I’m afraid to admit that all my honourable intentions went out of the window. At the end of the day, it’s a great show and fans who manage to get on it do it for the experience, not the money.

Can anyone validate the rumor I heard about Jeff not liking players like Vecepia? I also heard from Andrew Savage that Burnett treated Dara from Season 7 like crap when she fell ill and was "holding up production" during a challenge.
I love all seasons of survivor
Every video on your channel helps me flesh out a fuller picture of a production that I've been piecing together for years now. This channel is an avalanche of new info, although I often wish you would, or could, provide more specific examples. I sense that a secondary mission of yours with this channel is to become a popularly selected producer or host of an updated Survivor. I support that. Your understanding of and vision for the show accentuates the qualities of reality TV that I value whereas the current show moves further from it. I still love it for what it is and can be. Cheerio.
I'm glad this channel exists too. It does grant us a bigger picture of how all of this goes on and what goes on beyond what we see.
Maybe Jeff Probst & the execs need to do a season involving him, the execs & the crew, then maybe they would understand it better. I would definitely watch that season!!!‼️
What happened in season 39 and 40?
Why should the crew and probst not have access to AC and beds…?
You make alot of good points, honestly my favourite was the survivor auction, do you know why it's not popular/gone?
jesse038100 there’s a great TH-cam video on 5 times players “broke” the game.
I wacth this every day lol
Richard Hatch, I finally took your advice and subscribed😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
Survivor "Winners At War" with International Winners?! th-cam.com/video/UGLR1pHHjQE/w-d-xo.html
Completely spot on Rich, no wonder the show is in Fiji year after year and the challenges are the same season after season!
I never got the vibe probst was “enduring.” That mans always put together
Rich is actually right about this SAN Juan Del Sur Natalie said her and Nadiya planned to not reveal they were on amazing race next minute episode 1 Probst asks the two as amazing race participants in front of everyone .... boom nadiya gone ref SurvivorOz interview
From the guy who didn’t want to pay his taxes.
Probst seens to come across as a pretty genuine and caring host toward the contestants. Seems like hatch is just trying to trash talk him
You would be a really good host.
I’d love Joe Rogan hosting Survivor.
@@corrytincher8280 thankyou. That puts it in perspective.
The prize money for all players should all be doubled at least. Currently you can go through all the process and put yourself up for the humiliation of being a first boot for like 2500 bucks.
HOLD THE DOOR!
It’s kinda crazy Jeff gets more money then the actual survivor winner. Like over 5 times more. Makes you think
literally watching this on 1.75x speed bc he talks wayyy too slow and boring
oh thank you i didn’t even think to do that
I’ve watched every season. I don’t think anyone knows the game. Every season it’s a new game.
Rich is by far my favorite player. Next would be Russel - you know which one.
The 20 players that plays season 40 should've been voted for by the fans!
Jhebrix Should do a winners vs non winners that were close to winning like Russell and Ozzy so on be interesting
Good stuff Richard
Thumbs down for misleading video title.
Um...
All the best,
-Phil L.
Well if anyone knows what ego is it's you Hatch.
Great video Richard, I was wondering if you could make one about the old school/new school dynamic of this season and what it means for the strategic element of the game.
WHY WOULD JEFF ENDURE WHAT YOU GUYS ARE GOING THROUGH HES THE FUCKING HOST. OF COURSE........
Hey Rich, if at the final 3 in Borneo ,Kelly had voted you out instead of Rudy putting you on the jury, who would you have voted to win the game, Kelly or Rudy?
But they aren't playing the game.....sooo....
I think you are so right. After season 32, I have not liked the show that much. I still watch but they are not the same.
Invite and interview other survivors!!!!
I think season 2 was the best. It seemed like the early seasons of survivor were way more brutal. I'm currently binging all the seasons and I'm on Africa right now season 3. Did y'all hear about Michael supkin from season 2 that got burnt? I looked him up on Wikipedia to see what happened to him after those days and turns out he went to jail for embezzlement and possession of child pornography.
....I mean...get those sponsors. Make a show and let's fuckin do this!
In the Survivor World, Boston Rob may be the Godfather, but Richard Hatch is God.
You forgot to add the word awful at the end
I agree with Richard Hatch here about the handling of season 39. It was certainly reprehensible the way Probst etc decided to indulge the histrionics of an SJW princess who should have been weeded out in the audition process. They were so desperate to appear politically correct they didn’t care that they destroyed a man’s life. I was prepared to give up on Survivor after that, but then season 40 was announced with Boston Rob’s participation and I’m afraid to admit that all my honourable intentions went out of the window. At the end of the day, it’s a great show and fans who manage to get on it do it for the experience, not the money.
God bless
