Elvis recorded the Memphis record in Memphis. I think maybe you mixed up the Memphis session with the Nashville marathon session in 1970 when he recorded enough songs for 3 albums in 5 nights. Elvis did record in Memphis a couple of more times. In 73 at Stax and Graceland in 76.

Really , you could have analyzed the instruments or the arrangement or anyting, heck you could have even said how out of time he was, skipping pauses, and leaving the Rhythm Section to chase him all over the place, but no, all we get is open quotes oh isn't that great close quotes, I think you would be a lot better off if you told us WHY a song is great, not just that it is great , anyway have a good one

What I like about your response to Grant, John, is you seem to have a humble appreciation for Elvis' humanity and respect for his skill. He got through this bit of a train wreck and experienced musicians understand that's a skill in itself. He could have stopped it again, but he kept going- then never performed it live again, unfortunately. His vocals are strong, he's emotionally present in the performance even if it's derailing a bit and his crew is along for the ride- something they were very used to. The fact there were some struggles in this one actually makes it quite interesting. Happens sometimes, and we can see Elvis did his best not to have it happen with this song again. Perhaps Mr. Perkins can take solace in that. I like your performance, too, John- your musicianship seems very strong. Take care. :)

Kind of a country ballad. Love most Elvis. One thing I didn't care for in some of his songs is the addition of horns. With the exception of American Trilogy I feel like those instruments conflicted with the feel of some of the songs. I know he liked the big orchestra and for some songs it worked really well but I liked the the feel of the 68 Comeback best. It was simple, loose and rough around the edges. You have a very nice voice in the flip also.
