Hi Cyd. This video along with Jacobs 'AutoAutopsy' video on the same subject, gave me the courage to change the Tee-piece for a metal one on my 2006 Saab 93. Appreciate your help :)

U are what I like to call "The Saab Swami" 🙌 I am not worthy lol. I had mine go on me about 6 months ago and of course no local places carried the part so I had to order it from eBay and wait about a week for it to come in. This is Excellent advice for those who haven't changed theirs!!!

Ouch❗ So, your car was unusable for a week❓ I've had my car 10 years now and only known about this issue for 18-24 months, but I decided to do this 'mod' for exactly that reason - it could leave you stranded and car out of use while you wait for a part. Not to mention the posibility of damage to the ECU, alternator and compressor from that hot coolant❗
Would you believe that when I raised this on one of the Saab Facebook groups recently, I actually had some ass from the US start arguing with me about it! I blocked him, the ingrate❗

@@CycloneCyd Well he's an idiot because what u showed in the vid is a fact, it snapped in the same spot that you showed so I couldn't even rig it with another piece of hose in the mean time. I was driving with my son and we had the top down on a Saturday night and the coolant low warning started going off, and then I started noticing the coolant smell and the smoke from under the hood. Pulled over and there was coolant everywhere. Thank God I was only a few blocks from home when it did

Love the videos. It's amazing that I can find out how to do specific repairs on YT. I just had the "T" break on mine while I was getting her buttoned back up after replacing the valve cover gasket. I barely bumped it and it broke clean off. Glad it was in my garage and not elsewhere. I ended up replacing the entire radiator hose, t-fiitting and return hose. My original made it 332k miles though, so I can't complain...

I bought a used saab9/3 2.0t 08 4 cylinder somebody put a straight coolant pipe on and plugged the small hose where the T would attach onto the T originally so now it's just a straight coolant line from A to B no T but the small hose that should attach to the T does have a bolt in the end w/a hose clamp around it I did a coolant flushes and fill keep getting boiling in the Overflow but not overheating on the dash weird right my best guess is pockets of air. Has anyone had a Saab where someone has discarded that T all together put a straight antifreeze tube and didn't hook up the little line just put a bolt in the end of it with a hose clamp please help very unique situation your video is great by the way!! Love your content very informative please keep them vids coming

Sort out a tee in the line ASAP. That small hose is the return coolant from the turbo. Without this cooling you could cook your turbo in no time flat.

Hi Fantastic videos, i have a Saab 93 petrol 2006 model Vector we put petrol in it the other day it started ok we drove around for a while turned it off went to start it it started but idled rough we got half way home and it cut out wouldn't start, so next day i took battery lead off and put back on it started straight up but its still idling rough when i put the foot to the floor rpm wont go over 3000 rpm and engine light is on so i replaced the fuel filter but its still idling rough it must of gone in to limp mode any idea what it could be and how do i reset the limp mode

    • @CycloneCyd

it's an often missed intake leak.
Also check all the small vacuum hoses for splits.
Also check the intake piping and the IC for splits. The ICs on these bow at the bottom and you end up with leaks. A smoke test would be good but if you can't, get the IC out and fill it with parafin to see if there are any leaks (esp near the bottom)

Hi, I'm looking to do this job very soon but also had/having a cooling problem. Fan has been activated quite a lot in cool weather, recently temp was spiking to a point of dash warning coming on. Found the thermostat was blocked in a closed position and failed the hot water test. Replaced the thermostat but find bottom hose staying cool when the top hose is hot, hoses squeezable so have I wonder if radiator is blocked and what sort of job it's replacement is.

I need to replace my rad too. It doesn't look like too bad a job. You can bet screws and bolts will be rusted up though!

If it's the right size, just cut the hose and insert the tee. Fill with a cold engine via the reservoir. Run it without the cap till at least the stat opens. Keep an eye on the level. Stop the engine, return the cap and check the level again when cold.
