Just watching this at the start of the 10th month. Very enjoyable armchair stroll, in your esteemed company. I understand that recently some more archaeological investigations have been allowed there, also they now know exactly where the blue stones were quarried, Their transport however is still less sure. Keep walking wyrdly!

Great video, really enjoyed it.
During a visit in the late Nineties I was following an American tourist guide and her group. When they were on the opposite side of the stones to the Heel Stone she brought out some dowsing (divining?) rods, and demonstrated that in a particular spot the rods would spin 'round quite quickly, then stop if she took a few steps to either side. I don't know whether this was her playing a trick on the group or if she believed it was a genuine phenomenon.
However, a few years later my dad and I visited the Rollright Stones and the warden sold me a pair of copper dowsing rods. Walking around the inside of the circle holding them out in front, both my dad and I found that they would either point to certain stones as we passed, or the rods crossed at others. Both Dad and I getting similar results at similar stones. Again, how genuine this was or whether it was some sort of auto suggestion I couldn't say, but it would be interesting to know if anyone else has experienced this.

These sound like two very interesting experiences! Like you, I'm a little sceptical around dowsing but still open to the possibility of there being something to it. A lot of visitors to Stonehenge report the feeling of being pulled there - energetically speaking. I typed 'Dowsing at Stonehenge' into youtube, and quite a few videos came up, so it seems you're not alone in your experience!
Crackin stuff Nic, been past there a few times but have never stopped, why....I don't know but there's so much beautiful scenery there and you put it together and presented it very well. Thank you.

Hadn't heard of Woodhenge before but found it by happy accident on our way to Stonehenge...such a sad little grave in the middle...Enjoyed Stonehenge, it was worth the admission for the museum and all the rest. One day I hope to go back for the VIP tour into the circle. Happy new year to ya, you were gone too long!

A good video to start the year with. Although I prefer Avebury, Stonehenge does have a certain grandeur about it. I've attended a couple of private Solstice rituals with a druid group inside the circle and it was quite a powerful experience (first time I've been inside since I was four, when you could wander in freely). It's smaller inside than you would imagine, and the stones seem to loom over you. I did find it a little unsettling, as if the ancestors were watching you.
I can only imagine how special those private rituals were. Must have been a wonderful experience. I really enjoyed my visit, but like you, I do prefer Avebury. Thanks for watching!
Yes, I too can remember when you could get into Stonehenge for free. My parents took me there one Sunday afternoon in or about 1955. We parked the car on the side of the road and just walked in . We were pretty much the only people there , and were outnumbered by a group of cows . No one ever dreamed then that bus loads of foreign tourists would arrive every day and pay an arm and a leg to have a guided tour .

I've been debating whether or not to go the free or paid route to see the stones soon . i saw them in the 80s at school, so can't remember much. It looks like 23 pounds only gets you somewhat closer than free. hate being a cheapskate but also don't like getting ripped off... very interesting video nonetheless!
I do agree - it's quite expensive for what is essentially a glimpse of the stones at a distance. If you could visit during the Solstice for free, I think that would be worth doing.
