    As I get older, I find the self-righting feature is a must have and I'm happy to pay the extra $100. Money is not an issue. I've seen people spend way more for silly shoes and fashion.

    I love my traxxas but this HOSS... Low-grade shocks low-grade servo, barely mid-grade esc but TOP LEVEL price. I agree with everything you said 100%. The price doesn't match what you are getting. I feel like they are being much more business orientated than hobby orientated with this release. All about the bottom line for them with the new hoss. What they offer for the price has definitely left a sour taste in my mouth for Traxxas. 7 out of 10 of my RCs are Traxxas too. I understand they are a business and have to make money but like you said the price isn't even comparable to their competition. If it was $50 more than competition I'd be okay with that, but this this feels like they're trying to take advantage of the community. What would send a message to Traxxas is if all of their loyal customers didn't purchase this one release to show them that we won't accept ridiculous prices for "okay" cars. I thought the max was overpriced slightly but I purchased one. Now I feel like the max was a test bed to see how far they could upcharge RC enthusiasts. I hope this isn't their new business model because if it is I won't be shopping Traxxas any longer unfortunately.

      It feels like there are two guys at Traxxas. One bean counter guy is trying to jack up the prices on everything, and there's another guy who is actually trying to make decent cars at decent prices. There are a few well-priced cars -- Slash 4x4 Platinum, TRX-4 chassis kit, the sub-$200 2wd cars, but the rest are like... huh?

    • @blindj
      @blindj 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RazorRC good point, funny you mention those cars i has the platinum and a rtr sport and just built the kit. Maxx is pricey but at least it had good shocks and chassis and truck is super tough. I actually purchased mine "brand new" used for $375 because "something was wrong with the steering" lol it was only the servo saver.

    • @nobodynoone3428

      @@RazorRC Platinum doesn't have a radio or receiver. That's one reason why it comes across as a good value. It seems like you keep forgetting that the tsm radio system with 5ch? receiver is usually a decent chunk of the vxl price tag. You probably don't care for it, but it has value regardless. Meanwhile other companies tend to go as cheap as possible with their budget rtrs.

    It's expensive but it's worth it. What you're really paying extra for is the awesome customer service and parts support that no other company can match. A couple years ago I burned up two VXL escs and motors, I had them for over 10 years, would've cost $300 to replace both. But even though it was way out of warranty Traxxas still replaced both of them at half price, so I only paid $150 for two new sets, that's insane.
    Meanwhile Arrma's website is broken for months at a time so I can't even login and check my order status. And you can forget about email or calling them, they never reply and you'll be waiting for 1-2 hours on the phone before someone answers. Arrma warranty is a joke, I broke parts on my Granite back in March and I'm still waiting for them to come back in stock, it's been 5 months.

    Just got this two days ago. When I got home I just kinda had the box sitting there, seriously thinking about taking it back for most of what you said in the vid. I have the rustler and both 2wd and 4x4 stampedes. Next day said the heck with it and took out for a run. I will say it’s faster than an Traxxas I’ve had before but that’s about the only good thing. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! Spend the cash on upgrading your rustler or stampede.

  • @GreatLakesRC

    Yep, we knew it was coming 🤣 I agree, price is way too high 👎 After my experience with the Rustler 4x4 I would never buy this. Crap shocks and driveshafts on top of the ridiculous price. Why didn't they just set it up like the Maxx 🤷‍♂️ That truck is expensive but at least it's super tough

  • @ragsixracing

    Imo, the fence collapsed before I got on it. Arrma kicks it's butt with the granite 4x4. It took 10 years to finally upgrade the drive shafts??? At 300 it's an arrma killer, at 480 it's a Traxxas killer.

    If it’s tougher and has better customer support (Traxxas is so easy) then I don’t mind the price difference. Seems after some time has passed the Hoss has proven to be a more reliable rugged rig. Just takes a few aftermarket parts to make up the price differences.

    Yup, like you said, Traxxas doesn't upgrade. They just charge you for upgrades (repairs of known faults).
    I don't see why they made this truck, where it fits in within their lineup or the industry. Maybe it's just so it draws you into a shop and they can up-sell you to the Maxx.

    Seems kinda like Traxxas tried to do a little more than just put 2.8 size monster truck tires on a Slash 4x4 then call it a day it’s nice to see some improvements to handle 3s and that bigger VXL motor along with some effort to innovate yes they do, do it from time to time but Traxxas is one to come up with something new then rehash it for the next 20yrs what I’m really wondering is are they eventually dropping the Stampede 4x4 from the line up the Hoss seems to have more potential just gotta do something about the pricing

    Really good review. Pretty much everything i wouldve said myself. Kinda sad they put the 2075 servo and cheap shocks in it. Its a upgrade over the stampede and a downgrade from the maxx. Im personally a traxxas guy, own xmaxx, maxx, rustler 4x4, rustler 4x4 vxl, erevo 2.0 and thats just the traxxas rigs. I'm finding arrma is making much tougher trucks for much cheaper in my opinion. Just think the Arrma Kraton V5 6S is only $100 more then the hoss and better in every imaginable way. If the hoss gets down to $400 I'll get it but and $480 it should have steel geared servo and aluminum body shocks. All in all i think its a good addition to the traxxas line-up just a little overpriced for what you get.

      Well, they have some really decent cars: E-Revo 2.0 or the Rustler 4x4 VXL, not to forget the 4-Tec (the latter being one of the most underrated cars of their line-up, which is a pity). I personally think that the E-Revo is better than the standard Arrma Kraton RTR. No junk radio system, no junk bearings and a chassis that you don't have to reinforce (or replace) to prevent it from bending. With the release of the Kraton EXB Arrma has presented a very good alternative though (assuming they'll fix the rear diff issues soon).

      B. K. Lol, my brother can’t keep his P.O.S Erevo 2.0 from breaking every single run. The only thing consistent with it is something breaks. He’s had to replace the trash servos in it 3 times before he finally went with a single Savox setup. Don’t get me started on the rear toe links and the trash cantilever suspension. Meanwhile my Kraton and Outcast run circles and jump flips over his Erevo all day. TraxxASS sucks and rips you off with every trash release they come out with. This Hoss is a prime example of straight junk. Outdated parts for top end money. The only thing keeping TraxxASS relevant is the Xmaxx and Maxx. Even those trucks have issues.

      @@TheBigToe69 Well, I have 2 guys around you experience the exact opposite. One has the Kraton V4 and is constantly on the workbench. The other is driving his E-Revo day after day without any issues. The rear toe links area problem, but once you install that Alu brace for 12 bucks + a little suspension mod (just check the youtube videos how to do it, it's a 10 bucks hop-up), this is not a problem any more. And you don't find any truck without issues, also the Kraton / Outcast do have a lot of issues out of the box, starting with the piece of junk they call a radio.

    All I can say is wow, for that price point you would expect at least some of the upgrades. Doesn't the platinum slash that runs the same price give you some of the "upgrades". I think traxxas is trying to milk the pandemic. A lot of rc prices have gone through the roof, I saw a local hobby shop trying to sell the infraction a few months ago for $900. So yeah. Either way this is stupid pricing even for traxxas, they're cannibalizing their own lines, dumb. Great overview and please don't support this, instead show what you can do/get for the same price. Such as hop ups for the pede or upgrading the rustler to this...

    • @YoungWide
      @YoungWide 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Arrma has fixed the problems with the 3s models and later they are fixing the 4s models ive have owned a big rock 4x4 blx crew cab and the only problem was the bumpers I broke 4 front ones and 2 wheelie bars but after getting tbone racing bumpers fixed that problem then it was the shocks but all you had to do os different seals and then they were unbreakable I even smashed straight into my fire hydrant on the front right
      Right corner and the only thing that broke was the a arms and after a rpm no matter how hard a hot something it would break even going full speed into a curb but I ended up selling it for a 6s model which i haven't bought yet because it was out of stock
      Traxxas has made a new chassis to put on a stampede 4x4 drivetrain with beefed up parts but the thing is people complain about the driveshafts but I have had my slash and id run it till it would break and it hasn't broke anything and my slash was orginally the brushed version but the only thing now is the shock caps and shock rods that broke but after 20 or 30 $ fixed that problem. Now to me its a soild truck
