    80s bike with 200 hp, turbo injection and six cylinders! Badass AF!

      Four cylinders!
      Shootout from the original Z-1 900, the 1300 came out six years after the Z-1 900: (anniversary) The KZ 1300, except this one was retrofitted with turbo!

      @@fernominalEhm KZ1300 is 6 cyl. Just look how wide the engine is. Anniversary has the only diffrence of having injection instead of carbs like regular 1300.

    This is freaking SWEET MAN! ! I love the older KZ Models

    • @MrNickelbrille
      @MrNickelbrille 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep i agree. I had a Z1300.And nope no mistake. We didn't have any KZ in Germany, all models were Z. Nobody want's a German to have another KZ (Koncentration camp) It took no less than 20-21 mpg (US) the first carburator edition.Or 10Liter/100Kilometer. And I had 2 Z 500.I kept one Z500 while having the Z1300.But 'cause of the fuel price and the spare part prices (I needet for the TÜV 3 break disks each 350 €) I sold the Z1300 again. And was happy to enjoy the half as strong Z500 50 HP. But almost half the weight too. I was so pleased with the bike that I got me a 2nd one. Consumption 4,4-7,2 Liter/100Km.These bikes were all build in 1979. A good time ;-)

    Very elegant build. So close to original and yet so sofisticated.
    A sixpack has it's own unique sound. A soundprofile that no 4-cyl. are able to reproduce.
    Nice job Mr. Fluttert

    We had the 1985 ZG1300 from 1986 - 1988. A brilliant machine and easier to throw around in corners than many would contend.
    The earlier A2 version still holds the round Australia time record on Highway One at 6 days 23 hours and 11 minutes. Ridden by a policeman.

    Wow, echt vet. Het lijkt alsof het vermogen zo soepel inkomt, lijkt me heerlijk om daar eens op te rijden.
    Moet toegeven dat ik ook ietwat stond te kijken met hoeveel souplesse je nog kan sturen, even keren op de weg en weer verder. Zag er zo eenvoudig uit, menigeen steekt dan toch even de voet uit. En dan ook nog eens met zo'n (excuus voor de termen) gedateerde motor qua handling etc etc. Ik neem mijn hoed voor u af meneer.

    Holy moly! You did a fantastic job here. This is the cleanest, most factory stock looking turbo bike I've ever seen. One suggestion- if it were mine, I would de-chrome the intake pipes, and either powdercoat them black, or go for matte finish aluminum. I think black would be best. And speaking of black, please, please take off the pipe couplers in blue, and replace them with black ones. This would visually integrate the turbo parts sooooo much better- and have a very pleasing understated look. The blue just screams cheap / import tuner/ rice rocket/ autozone junk.
    It really doesnt fit with the sophisticated, mature demeaner of the 1300.
    Besides that one small detail, this has got to be the nicest turbo addition I've ever seen on a motorbike. Well done mate, well done.

    Very nice Farris. If I had been able to keep my KZ13 running, I would have loved to have turbocharged it. Unfortunately, back in the early 90's, there was not enough information, or internet to find out what the problems were, so since I couldn't afford, to, and couldn't find out why she kept eating $400 alternator stators, and a few other problems, all I could do was charge the battery, and run it till it discharged. Couldn't get to far away from home. Wish I still had her now. Best bike ever made. Don't ever sell yours dude, you WILL regret it if you do. I did. 😭

    Believe it or not I had one of these with a Mr turbo kit years ago. Yes they are fast, problem is , the bike isn't designed to go that fast,, mine was super scary, fouled plugs like crazy, a lot of work. A great experience though, I just got a 2015 zx14 which would destroy this bike performance wise, but I still love it. Great post!

      My friend had one of those he bought new in '79 and put a Mr Turbo kit on it, and he sent the engine to a guy who built it for turbo specs with one of only two sets of cams ever that were ground to turbo specs for that engine, EVIL is the way to describe that thing, it's one of the two scariest motorcycles I've ever ridden, being a motorcycle mechanic and even having my own shop at one time I've ridden a lot of wild motorcycles and that thing left an everlasting impression, 1979 brakes, 1979 tires, and 1979 suspension with that kind of power equals a motorcycle that's just dying to kill you or at least put you in the hospital, 100% EVIL.

    • @dukecraig2402
      @dukecraig2402 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glorious isn't the word, EVIL is, I've ridden one of these but it was faster then this one.
      In 1979 a friend of mine bought one of these new, took it home and immediately took the engine off and sent it to a guy who worked with Kaw engines that built it for turbo specs, it had 1 of only 2 ever made set of cams specifically ground for turbo specs, when he got it back he put the engine back on with a Mr Turbo kit, and as if it wasn't fast enough he put a nitrous bottle on it that gave it a little shot of nitrous at WOT to compensate for turbo lag.
      Every one around town knew who he was and about the bike, I finally got to meet the guy in the late 80's and got to be friends with him, I took the bike for a ride twice back in the day although by then he had the nitrous unhooked on it, that kind of power on a bike with 1979 brakes, 1979 tires, and a 1979 suspension=100% EVIL!!! I mean that thing was just dying to kill you or put you in the hospital.
      At lower RPM's if you jacked the throttle wide open it reacted pretty much like any other large displacement UJM of the era, if you watched the boost gauge at 4lbs it started to happen, at 6lbs your eyeballs started to sink back in your head, at 8lbs the bike was literally trying to shoot straight out from underneath you, the 2nd time I rode the bike he told me "Don't go over 10lbs of boost or you'll blow the head gasket", I told him "Don't worry about that, I doubt I'll even see 8lbs this time"
      That thing was one of the two scariest motorcycles I've ever ridden in my life, and being a motorcycle mechanic and even having my own shop at one point I've ridden a lot of wild bikes, 100% EVIL is the best way to describe that thing.
