What is the BEST Portable WEBER Charcoal Grill??

  • You really cannot go wrong with any of the Weber portable charcoal grills. The Weber Go Anywhere has the smallest footprint and is one of the most versatile grills I have ever used. The Weber Smokey Joe is an awesome grill and can easily be converted to a bullet smoker. I have not had much time with the Jumbo Joe but it looks like you can fit at least 1 rack of ribs on it.
    To pick one of these you need to decide which is most important to you - compact size or the amount of food you can cook at one time.

    I have owned a Weber go anywhere for 15years, still my personal favourite. Extremely versatile and there is nothing you can’t do on it. All the Weber’s are great as I have 3, but for something you can put in the boot for picnics or whatever, it’s perfect.

    I have a 14" Weber Silver, a little guy, round, and the Go-Anywhere. I find the round one works best on the deck for the two of us, good on charcoal, cool so sits on a patio table, perfect for meat + veggie like zucchini. But! The Go-Anywhere is very well named, I take it camping all the time and love the size, does a full meal or appies for the crew very well and folds up so nicely and goes away with the camp gear. I hacksawed the cooking grill in half so it fits down low on the charcoal grill when turned sideways, that way all the tools go inside. the round one does not travel well, bulky and comes open on bumpy roads. they both cook real well.

    I own the Smokey Joe and have used the Jumbo Joe. I like the Jumbo Joe better because the temp doesn't vary as much when you take the lid off.

      Thats a great observation, Jeff. I scored the jj new in box for 20 on facebook. I really like how small the wga folds up for camping or tailgating. Throw some grill grates on and you have one mean searing machine (since the coals are so close to the grates) - if you ever have a chance to snag one I'd recommend it.

    Bought my 2nd Weber Smoky Joe BBQ. 1st BBQ was back in 1997. This Weber replaced original Smoky Joe purchased so many year's ago. Perfect for 1-3 hungry folks. You will save on Charcoal because the BBQ is not too large, requiring less fuel to cook meats. The original had a wooden handle not plastic, i prefer wood. I dislike plastic in firearms too. This BBQ is great for bringing to parks & campsites. I will not use in campsites community BBQ-s because of health concerns and who wants to clean someone else's mess, i don't, would you ? I doubt it. You can't go wrong with Weber BBQ's. The only real choice is size and portability per your needs. Well Made Presentation 🇺🇸👍

    Thanks for the video. I purchased a Go Anywhere based on the detailed video. I used it for the first time on the weekend to grill hotdogs for day at the park with the family. I had a bit of a challenge getting the charcoal briquettes started. I'm going to make a small chimney out of a soup or can of beans. I'll cut off both ends, use some paper towel sprayed with canola oil in the bottom and hopefully that will work (and should also fit under the lid for storage).

    • @WhiteThunderBBQ
      @WhiteThunderBBQ  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Theres a great wga hack video that shows you how to modify one to store everything you want in it. When I bring mine anywhere I just use one of those smaller chimneys. Mines from pit barrel cooker. Thanks James!!!

    The issue for me with the jumbo joe (I don't have one) is hot ash dropping to the ash tray below and a decent wind blowing hot ash onto you or your food, or to dry brush near by posing a fire risk

    • @WhiteThunderBBQ
      @WhiteThunderBBQ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thats actually a risk with almost any grill that has vents near the coals. Less of a risk with others but is still there.

      But if I find a good small portable charcoal grill like Weber, I'd cookl chicken, souvlaki, corn, veggie kabobs...so it's ok that they're close to the charcoal as long as I turn them over often?

    :) thank you for the video comparison.
    I have a few questions.
    Background/ Usecases:
    - I'm a single person and don't eat a lot.
    - I rarely entertain, but when I do grill+entertain, I'd be feeding 3 people including me.
    - I like to grill once or twice a year.
    - I go camping once a year, and wonder if a grill is too bulky or convenient to travel with.
    I'm currently leaning towards the go anywhere. But are there any other brands or models you recommend or have used?
    Based on my limited use, does it make sense for me to buy or should I continue to use my community/local club house/hoa grill?

      @hv9988 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, a follow-up question. Do you recommend getting cast iron grill grates?
      I've seen some people online recommending them over the stainless steel grates.
      The ones mentioned online were Craycort cast iron grates (2 grates for ease of lifting to get to the coals underneath)
      Do you think this makes sense to purchase? have you ever found having a single piece for the grate inconvent? Or is cast iron too much/unneeded for a beginner? I plan on keeping whatever I buy for as long as it will last.
      Edit:
      (I had a comment asking about affiliate links, but I found yours in the video description, so I deleted it)

      @WhiteThunderBBQ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@hv9988 what do you code in? Craycort grates are really nice. I think for just using them a few times a year they may rust. Its a very good company though. Rolfe is a really nice guy. Another option is grillgrates... another great company and owner. They are extruded aluminum grates. Highly recommend both.

      And thanks. I'll put off the grates for now. I'll buy them if I start grilling more often or just decide to invest or splurge on them for Christmas, for now Ill just look into both companies' products and see which one I'd want when I'm ready :)
