  • In this video, I examine large scale events that are going to happen and also ones that are possibly going to happen. The video starts with events closest to us now and then examines events that are each more and more distant, because of that the video starts with the disappearance of methane and ethane lakes, then to large scale atmospheric escape, then to the atmospheric renewal during the great water vaporization event, then the possible water ocean forming and then finally to mass shrinkage. The video also examines the red giant Sun phase, because the future of the Sun deeply ties into the future of Titan.
Intro, outro and many other clips in this video were made with Space Engine.

I wonder if water salt can also drive a dynamo? Because that’s the theory for ganymede.

Really interesting stuff. Best video you made in years. Something about looking into the future just really interests me.

Would all those gases get captured by Saturn’s magnetic field?

I probably know more about Titan than 99% of all Americans due to your video series on the satellite.

Well things don't look too good for Titan in the distant future.☹ I suppose all the ice covered moons in the outer solar system won't fare all that well either.

What If the average density of Mars and Mercury were swapped (assuming the composition and radius/size/volume of both planets remain the same and unchanged)

Will Titan in the frozen, dark future not accumulate secondary atmosphere and ices from the interstellar medium? Or will its gravitation be too weak for that?

Is it possible for Titan to become a planet if ejected from Saturn? As in a body that orbits the sun?

Would there still be water trapped in the rocky core though? (Earth has this now.)

Sad to think everything in the Solar System has basically a few billion years of effective life followed by what we almost can call an eternity (10^200 years if protons decay, 10^[10^76] if they don't and everything has to turn into an "iron star" and then a black hole before decaying via Hawking Radiation) as an inert remnant of what it once was... Unless there's something we don't yet know about physiscs, that's a very long time. Maybe we'll discover a method to take some energy out of proton decay or the slow quantum tunnelling of matter into Iron and thus survive in the distant future Universe.

I wonder if we'll ever melt through the ice on the icy moons and beam back pictures.

Do Moons start moving back in after a certain distance? Are there Moons in the solar system that might be habitable in the Red Giant phase? Maybe Triton?

Well before Titan shrinks due to mass loss, Earth will become unhabitable and we ought to think of some method, how to move to other planets. We have about a bilion years before the Sun gets +10% more powerful. Maybe even half of that, considering Earth's atmosphere and climate vulnerability. We also do not know the full image of current global climate change and when it will become stable again. Might take couple of thousands of years and I don't think our genetic evolution will be so rapid.

Most of these will probably never happen due to human interference and the development of solar and terrestrial engineering. Interesting video nonetheless. Very informative of how a star aging affects planets in its solar system.
