I swear isiZulu is such a beautiful language... And I am not even Zulu. Well done to the interviewer for such an honest approach to a very sensitive topic and to allow the Inkabi to express himself without passing judgment on him. We need these kinds of open discussions for us to start healing. God be with us all.

I was born and raised in Gauteng, and while I studied isiZulu in school, my grasp of the language is somewhat diluted. English is the language spoken in my household. Nonetheless, I can't help but feel envious of those who speak isiZulu with such elegance and fluency.

The guy who's being interviewed, is so proficient in isizulu, his description of how he killed his enemy is POETIC , its so beautifully express in words but horrific when you understand ,in addition to all this, you can feel and see vividly every emotion , just from his use of language, Yho im blown away nje.🤯

I sector yama-taxi yiyo eyandise the definition of inkabi being synonymous for hired assassin. UBabu Msweli uyichaze kamnandi the historical and cultural definition. Hugely informative channel!
@@southernafricanboy4148I hope this helps but this the tradition that baba Msweli and the guest speak to- it's based on cattle so it is the ox/ male is called inkabi. You would know that any animal's pedigree is determined by the quality of the sperm. So a good INKABI is bred in the family, actually the village might share a good inkabi to ensure a strong herd of cattle. As you know, traditionally a family's riches was displayed by the size of their herd of cattle. Boys had the duty of looking after the cattle and the most studious boys would not lose a single cattle after herding them in the fields. So from boyhood to adulthood a productive male who grows his family, who leads his family productively would be referred to fondly (by his peers) as INKABI. The traditional isizulu manner of arranging everyday life is based on a peer system. So acknowledgment by peers means a lot. So peer acknowledgement on the male side included this referral to one another as "nkabi yami"- my brother/ my peer. When taxis later on replaced the herd of cattle and urbanisation especially of young men. You will appreciate that the taxi industry employed many young men who left the rural & traditional way of life. The taxis were now referred to as INKABI. It is their way of making money and sending back hoe/ building houses etc. Basically again a show of productive young men who build their family name. You will know that the drivers took great pride in how they looked after "their" taxis and would often refer to their assigned taxi as "inkabi ebomvu"- a red taxi/ minibus. As well they continued to fondly refer to one another at peer level as inkabi. Urbanisation/ Fierce competition (in the taxi industry) and I think research shows that most of the taxi killings trickle from rural & family battles from the rural areas. I can only image that those who display "braveness" in bloody battles would then be referred to as inkabi during "missions". The shifts in modernization/ change in the means of production/ illustration of family wealth lands us here were killers are referred to as INKABI colloquially.

As a writer who create stories about a certain person or people, n create sufferings, happiness and tragedies for characters. I was gonna think that this guy is just creating a story if he wasn't talking to Mr Msweli. Kodwa hheyi ngibheme ngakholwa, impilo ephilwe abanye abantu kulomhlaba inzima, uyikholwa kanzima. Yaz ngathi imovie. I wish aphole ngaphakathi emoyeni nasemqondweni lobhuti oneday. Futhi uJehova amsize angafi ngesandla somuntu ngoba ukube akehlelwanga ilezinto ngabe akazenzanga lezinto.😢😢😢😢
