When I was trying to come up with the most broken combination of moves from different characters I went with deep breathing and monado. I can't imagine a better combo.
Probably because of the gimmick of having to timing it and it being slower every time you use so while it does boost your damage and heal you a bit it doesn’t matter if the time the move is active is bad and how you can only deep breath 1-2 time a stick because of how slow it can get and opponent won’t let you get deep breathing activated

Could be that he just considers Monado Arts to be better. Sure they each have drawbacks whereas Deep Breathing just buffs Wii Fit, but the huge amount of startup on subsequent Deep Breathings forces Wii Fit to play without it for a lot of the match, while Monado Arts have 5 separate cooldowns and so can be used constantly throughout the match.
I'd be interested to see a Top 10 Character Mechanics. From Ink, Arsene, Auto-turn, character swapping (Pyra/Mythra and PT), Limit, GO, Mining/Crafting, Tipper (or Roy's sweetspot), Desyncs (I don't know if that counts), Tough Guy, etc. etc.

Haha yeah...can't wait for people to realize they have been giving up free punishes on that up-b constantly, because all of his landing options are exploitable--especially down air (you can literally just shield it...or jump next to where he will land to avoid the splash-box....or realize that it has zero horizontal coverage at any point of the move). Still a great move but it's definitely being overrated somewhat.
Reminder that block is not just block, but also an anti zoning tool which leads into a x2. something boost in damage and knockback on half of your moves.

Honestly I’m just glad that ESAM tried to be as object and non bias as possible. Cause I was fully expected the whole list to be Pikachu moves. And it’s so nice that he actually considered other characters and not just like haha t jolt.
I'm honestly not sure that he's being non-biased here. The only characters whose moves appear on this list are either almost universally regarded as top-tier in the US (Pikachu, G&W, ROB, Shulk, Joker, ZSS) or are characters that ESAM is personally quite familiar with/favours (Ness, Samus, Min-Min, Steve). I mean yeah having a top 10 move would definitely make it more likely you're a high-tier character but not a single one outside of that? There are tons of characters in this game that have incredible moves that are just let down by the rest of their kit or their stats (looking at you, Incineroar).
@@matthewthomson2859 Yes! Link’s nair is invincible when it starts up so it can take a fully charged Samus neutral special. Also weak hit can be used as a combo starter, while the strong hit can be used as a kill move. The move can be used as an edge guard, and can also be used as a Poking tool. It’s also a great move to use with his Z-drop bomb combo’s as well. I genuinely believe it’s a top 2 or 3 makes in the game, if we are talking about Character’s kit wise
It's a great move but pretty committal and not very fast. Ultimate just has *so many* good moves that a top 10 just has to leave a lot of good moves out

Honestly considering the honorable mentions, I'd love to see a top 10 unique character mechanics. With DLC there's so many crazy unique character mechanics like Arsene, Float, Shudos, Hero's down-b, KO meter, Go, min-min's arms, etc. It would be really cool to see them all laid out. Maybe even a tier list video? Idk seems like a great TH-cam video to me so there's some free content for you.
I agree with this list for the most part, but one move that I think could've been an honorable mention is Diddy's side b. A long range command grab/movement option that controls the pace of neutral AND can be ledge canceled for even more tricky movement. It kills at the ledge and the kick is very quick and long lasting with good kill power of its own. A fantastic move on Diddy kong and it would be amazing on any other character, especially one with good air mobility

I feel like in these sort of discussions, Duck Hunt can gets ignored a lot. That move is a whole-ass neutral, advantage stage, recovery tool, edgeguard tool, combo-extender and finisher. You slap that move on damn near any character and they become the best in the game IMO
That move is nuts, but the thing a lot of these really good moves have in common is that you can just throw them out really quickly. Can you can only kick out one at a time, and I don't think it's fast enough to really mix things up like some of the moves on the list can. Even Steve's block, which *was* on the list, you can have multiple of them out, unlike can.
@@Amaling Not just that there's only one, but again, it's a much bigger commitment than the other moves on the list. Not to say that it's not still extremely good, like you said it's really valuable to have that extra attack option. It just is outclassed by those other moves
Surprised to see Command List, GO!, Shadow Ball, Ptooie, Bonus Fruit, or Quick Attack not make it in the top ten or honorable mentions. Just imagine a character like Sonic with such a powerful option.
Ya Shadow Ball is basically Samus charge shot but even better at ledge trapping becuz it can hit you while you hang on the ledge. And Mewtwo has better air speed and dash speed than Samus so all the same combo extensions and confirms apply~
I was initially confused that he opted to mention Charge Shot over Bonus Fruit, but I guess it makes sense if you consider it with his "No item pulls" clause, since Bonus Fruit is basically just 9 different projectiles mixed with item pulls.
I feel like mii brawler axe kick deserves an honourable mention, maybe even a place on the actual list. Makes your recovery good both high and low with a big disjointed hitbox and scary to contest because it kills at 0 offstage while also being a massive OoS and anti air option that invalidates some characters and also stops brawler getting invalidated by sword characters. Literally just kind of does everything, I didn't even mention everything it's good at.
Even though it’s technically an item, Big Link’s bombs are broken af. They can be used defensively, offensively, and to recover. Not only that, but you can use them to do the infinite Z drop combo.
I think that Ivy’s up-air is the best in a vacuum because it just does everything. It combos into itself, it deals insane dmg (18.9%), it kills on its own, it kill confirms, it juggles, and it is transcendent so literally nothing in the game can clank with it. I think that if a character has some other good vertical kill move like Snake’s up-tilt, than GnW’s up air is much better as not killing is pretty much its only weakness.
I think Bayonetta‘s up and side specials should get an honorable mention. Like ya, you need both of them to really make it work, but imagine them on literally any other character. Better yet, just imagine bayo’s ariels actually had kill power. It’d be smash 4 all over again
Banjos breegal buster is frame 4 and combos into it self up to 4 juggles at any percent plus it cancels in WW / combos. It’s safe on shield with little commitment plus gives up to 4 frame trap options to mix it up. There’s a banjo who beat Esam on his stream who showed this broken move .
Ngl Bonus Fruit should definitely be on this list. A lot of Pac's moves deserve to be on this list, nair in particular, but Fruit is easily the best charge move in the entire game.
Fruit being the best charge move in the game, I'd probably disagree on, especially when some ones are pretty busted. Saying that he has a lot of moves that should at least be top 20, on the other hand, I second that. Talked to a few people the other day about pacman, and they all said he was "universally big brain and balanced". Like, ok... He has a frame 6 oos with nair, fair is most times safe and combos, up air combos as well, bair is one of many confirms off of bell, dair covers some recoveries exceptionally well. So then they brought up the argument "They didn't give a zoner amazing aerials because Pacman is not a zoner. He's a freestyle trap character." But regardless of is he's a zoner or not, his aerials are busted. I tried to tell them that, but as usual, they say I'm wrong and they're right. That's when I play their game and won: mentioning Pikachu, who actually can be labeled as a freestyle character, has ok-ish moves. You can guess what happened...
@@survivorofthecurse717 the thing is that Pac is easy to pick up but hard to master. Im not gonna pretend that he requires an Einstein to do it but learning how to use all his tools in unique ways is pretty challenging at higher levels of play. I will say yeah... his OOS game is pretty insane tho. It still doesn't beat spaced attacks but he just kinda beats anyone who can't. Pikachu is honestly pretty balanced as far as attacks and combos tho, its really just the pancaking and maybe Quick Attack that people have gripes with. Also Bonus Fruit is easily one of if not the most versatile move in the entire game. It provides Pac-Man basically anything he could want. That and its weirdly insane priority is why I say it's the best.
That's basically how it goes. Anyone can be hard to master, but pacman doesn't need too much to master. Both that, and he doesn't get screwed over from human error nearly as much as others are. Funny enough, the same people that said pac is big brain and balanced are the same people who said Marth was extremely OP. I mean, I try my best to use him to his best potential, and I find performing well with him pleasing, and sometimes even fun. But they won't let me. I mean, what am I supposed to say or do?

He just has a very diverse kit and complex kit, hard enough to master even withoutbthe added drawback that it can be taken advantage of due to the "double edged sword" nature of it all. This is why you dont see him a lot at top level play. Edit: also idk in what world people say Marth is OP. He rewards using skill with spacing. I dont see the issue here.

I think Shadow Flare deserves to be in the top 10 or an honorable mention. It breaks combos, forces neutral or disadvantage, extends combos, kills, does 10 per orb, is one of the fastest projectiles in the game, jab locks, and gives Sephiroth kill throws. Sure it's punishable at point blank but so is Gun.
@@aidanshim7606 100%, I think it's minimum a top 3 projectile, if not the best in the game. You have to respect it. On top of that you can't airdodge every orb starting at level 3, and also most people opt to go onto ledge and neutral getup, which is an extremely predictable and unsafe option, especially since you then have to deal with Sephiroth ledgetrapping you.
@@randyrandy351 The fact that it breaks, can be reflected even on hit, and only covers one side (not even above or below) makes the counter pretty balanced imo. It's kb scaling and damage is ridiculous, but its risk is definitely bigger than a normal counter especially from above and behind.
Surprised Link's nair didn't make the list. Maybe its because of his higher than normal fall speed, but I swear there isn't much you can do about it. Maybe hope they use falling nair and shield it, thats about the only counter play I can think of. But if they use it low to the ground, then its safe on shield. It combos, it gimps, it has like no lag for landing, it can kill with sweetspot at high percents, and its priority is actually stupid. (Remember charge shot from earlier? Link can literally nair it out of existence. It just doesn't care)
I remember game and watch had a custom move that slightly lowered how high you went but 33% but it was faster, did way more damage and had more invincibility frames
I have to applaud your choice for #7. People largely underestimate that up-air. Not only does it trade, but because it's multi-hit, it'll outright BEAT all aerials. Deflecting it is risky cause G&W can punish that. If you're a heavy, you're easily gonna take 50% from a single nair - upair The only option you have is to go off-stage, really.
Also you can duplicate G&W up b by getting phantom footstooled within the first 4 frames of up b (may have been patched though). Basically you can use up b twice before hitting the ground
if you know opponent is gonna flip jump on your head byleth down b is the HARDEST of punishes. I hit that in a local tourney the other day and everyone in attendance lost their ever loving minds. It was the highlight of the night and possibly the greatest read of my life lol
If you have two moves on the tier list that ranks best moves in the game that's how you know you're playing a character meant for children (game and watch)
Ok but have you seen PK Fire? That thing is SO BUSTED. Crazy damage, the multi-hit provides good shield pressure, gives you stage control so you can get items/break smash balls, kills super early, it blocks all projectiles on Mii Gunner, it combos into ITSELF and don't even get me started on the double Ness footstool tech.
Before I watched this video as a lucario main I thought that his neutral B was better then Samus because it had charge hitbox and could change cancel combo be then I checked and realized for lucario neutral B to mach Samus neutral B knock back he has to be at 140% and to mach damage delt he needs to be at 170%+

11-20 sounds fun but maybe like "best heavy moves" or "best DLC moves" or maybe best aerials or smash attacks
I agree with this list for the most part, but one move that I think could've been an honorable mention is Diddy's side b. A long range command grab/movement option that controls the pace of neutral AND can be ledge canceled for even more tricky movement. It kills at the ledge and the kick is very quick and long lasting with good kill power of its own. A fantastic move on Diddy kong and it would be amazing on any other character, especially one with good air mobility

I feel like in these sort of discussions, Duck Hunt can gets ignored a lot. That move is a whole-ass neutral, advantage stage, recovery tool, edgeguard tool, combo-extender and finisher. You slap that move on damn near any character and they become the best in the game IMO

That move is nuts, but the thing a lot of these really good moves have in common is that you can just throw them out really quickly. Can you can only kick out one at a time, and I don't think it's fast enough to really mix things up like some of the moves on the list can.
Even Steve's block, which *was* on the list, you can have multiple of them out, unlike can.

@@Amaling Not just that there's only one, but again, it's a much bigger commitment than the other moves on the list.
Not to say that it's not still extremely good, like you said it's really valuable to have that extra attack option. It just is outclassed by those other moves

Surprised to see Command List, GO!, Shadow Ball, Ptooie, Bonus Fruit, or Quick Attack not make it in the top ten or honorable mentions. Just imagine a character like Sonic with such a powerful option.
Ya Shadow Ball is basically Samus charge shot but even better at ledge trapping becuz it can hit you while you hang on the ledge.
And Mewtwo has better air speed and dash speed than Samus so all the same combo extensions and confirms apply~

I was initially confused that he opted to mention Charge Shot over Bonus Fruit, but I guess it makes sense if you consider it with his "No item pulls" clause, since Bonus Fruit is basically just 9 different projectiles mixed with item pulls.
Imo charge shot is generally better for characters than bonus fruit is.
I feel like mii brawler axe kick deserves an honourable mention, maybe even a place on the actual list. Makes your recovery good both high and low with a big disjointed hitbox and scary to contest because it kills at 0 offstage while also being a massive OoS and anti air option that invalidates some characters and also stops brawler getting invalidated by sword characters. Literally just kind of does everything, I didn't even mention everything it's good at.

Even though it’s technically an item, Big Link’s bombs are broken af. They can be used defensively, offensively, and to recover. Not only that, but you can use them to do the infinite Z drop combo.

I think that Ivy’s up-air is the best in a vacuum because it just does everything. It combos into itself, it deals insane dmg (18.9%), it kills on its own, it kill confirms, it juggles, and it is transcendent so literally nothing in the game can clank with it.
I think that if a character has some other good vertical kill move like Snake’s up-tilt, than GnW’s up air is much better as not killing is pretty much its only weakness.

I think Bayonetta‘s up and side specials should get an honorable mention. Like ya, you need both of them to really make it work, but imagine them on literally any other character. Better yet, just imagine bayo’s ariels actually had kill power. It’d be smash 4 all over again

Banjos breegal buster is frame 4 and combos into it self up to 4 juggles at any percent plus it cancels in WW / combos. It’s safe on shield with little commitment plus gives up to 4 frame trap options to mix it up. There’s a banjo who beat Esam on his stream who showed this broken move .

Ngl Bonus Fruit should definitely be on this list. A lot of Pac's moves deserve to be on this list, nair in particular, but Fruit is easily the best charge move in the entire game.
Fruit being the best charge move in the game, I'd probably disagree on, especially when some ones are pretty busted. Saying that he has a lot of moves that should at least be top 20, on the other hand, I second that. Talked to a few people the other day about pacman, and they all said he was "universally big brain and balanced". Like, ok... He has a frame 6 oos with nair, fair is most times safe and combos, up air combos as well, bair is one of many confirms off of bell, dair covers some recoveries exceptionally well.
So then they brought up the argument "They didn't give a zoner amazing aerials because Pacman is not a zoner. He's a freestyle trap character." But regardless of is he's a zoner or not, his aerials are busted.
I tried to tell them that, but as usual, they say I'm wrong and they're right. That's when I play their game and won: mentioning Pikachu, who actually can be labeled as a freestyle character, has ok-ish moves. You can guess what happened...
@@survivorofthecurse717 the thing is that Pac is easy to pick up but hard to master. Im not gonna pretend that he requires an Einstein to do it but learning how to use all his tools in unique ways is pretty challenging at higher levels of play. I will say yeah... his OOS game is pretty insane tho. It still doesn't beat spaced attacks but he just kinda beats anyone who can't.
Pikachu is honestly pretty balanced as far as attacks and combos tho, its really just the pancaking and maybe Quick Attack that people have gripes with.
Also Bonus Fruit is easily one of if not the most versatile move in the entire game. It provides Pac-Man basically anything he could want. That and its weirdly insane priority is why I say it's the best.
That's basically how it goes. Anyone can be hard to master, but pacman doesn't need too much to master. Both that, and he doesn't get screwed over from human error nearly as much as others are. Funny enough, the same people that said pac is big brain and balanced are the same people who said Marth was extremely OP. I mean, I try my best to use him to his best potential, and I find performing well with him pleasing, and sometimes even fun. But they won't let me. I mean, what am I supposed to say or do?
@@survivorofthecurse717 actually... compared to others Pac does take quite a bit to master. He just has a very diverse kit and complex kit, hard enough to master even withoutbthe added drawback that it can be taken advantage of due to the "double edged sword" nature of it all. This is why you dont see him a lot at top level play.
Edit: also idk in what world people say Marth is OP. He rewards using skill with spacing. I dont see the issue here.

I think Shadow Flare deserves to be in the top 10 or an honorable mention. It breaks combos, forces neutral or disadvantage, extends combos, kills, does 10 per orb, is one of the fastest projectiles in the game, jab locks, and gives Sephiroth kill throws. Sure it's punishable at point blank but so is Gun.
Oh yeah, Shadow flare is broken af. It controls the game when orbs are on characters, it forces characters to approach or choose a defensive option.
@@aidanshim7606 100%, I think it's minimum a top 3 projectile, if not the best in the game. You have to respect it.
On top of that you can't airdodge every orb starting at level 3, and also most people opt to go onto ledge and neutral getup, which is an extremely predictable and unsafe option, especially since you then have to deal with Sephiroth ledgetrapping you.
His down B is probably even more broken lol
@@randyrandy351 The fact that it breaks, can be reflected even on hit, and only covers one side (not even above or below) makes the counter pretty balanced imo.
It's kb scaling and damage is ridiculous, but its risk is definitely bigger than a normal counter especially from above and behind.

Maybe its because of his higher than normal fall speed, but I swear there isn't much you can do about it. Maybe hope they use falling nair and shield it, thats about the only counter play I can think of. But if they use it low to the ground, then its safe on shield. It combos, it gimps, it has like no lag for landing, it can kill with sweetspot at high percents, and its priority is actually stupid. (Remember charge shot from earlier? Link can literally nair it out of existence. It just doesn't care)
I feel like Waft is up there on the list. Forces you to approach, kills super early, and versing wario is almost always a stock deficit
Especially now that they nerfed its startup time, Waft, for the most part, is only scary on Wario bc of his true combos into it

I do believe most chars would still be able to combo into it. Lots of them could do dthrow waft, dtilt waft or landing uair waft.

I remember game and watch had a custom move that slightly lowered how high you went but 33% but it was faster, did way more damage and had more invincibility frames

People largely underestimate that up-air. Not only does it trade, but because it's multi-hit, it'll outright BEAT all aerials.
Deflecting it is risky cause G&W can punish that.
If you're a heavy, you're easily gonna take 50% from a single nair - upair

Then you get Kirby with either copy ability and he's suddenly really good
Also you can duplicate G&W up b by getting phantom footstooled within the first 4 frames of up b (may have been patched though). Basically you can use up b twice before hitting the ground
if you know opponent is gonna flip jump on your head byleth down b is the HARDEST of punishes. I hit that in a local tourney the other day and everyone in attendance lost their ever loving minds. It was the highlight of the night and possibly the greatest read of my life lol

Ok but have you seen PK Fire? That thing is SO BUSTED. Crazy damage, the multi-hit provides good shield pressure, gives you stage control so you can get items/break smash balls, kills super early, it blocks all projectiles on Mii Gunner, it combos into ITSELF and don't even get me started on the double Ness footstool tech.
But what if you jumped over it?
My favorite games are Mii Boxing & Ring fit adventures.

Before I watched this video as a lucario main I thought that his neutral B was better then Samus because it had charge hitbox and could change cancel combo be then I checked and realized for lucario neutral B to mach Samus neutral B knock back he has to be at 140% and to mach damage delt he needs to be at 170%+
