I was getting worried for you and your mum Alex. With the fireplace and in your last video the kitchen. Was hoping that you were both ok. What a task you both have. Yet you both never give up you just continue with the task in hand. You say in this vid in the captions you got frustrated. Everyone gets this way at times . It doesn’t show your temperaments seem calm. I feel for you Alex and your mum. Two courageous ladies. I can’t find the correct words to say I’m proud of you. You put me to shame. As always keep safe the two of you.
Absolutely
Doesn't your brother ever help..is there a Dad to help.
😮 I know you both can do it, I'm also a women, now 62 years of age, but seriously, is there nobody who can help?
It’s moving to imagine the people who once sat in front of that fireplace 200+ years ago, staring into the flames, lost in thought. And so lovely to see the respect and care you and your mom are giving the old house. Well done, Alex, and thank you so much for sharing with us. ❤
You deserve to be proud of all that work.
The best thing you can realize is that renovation isn’t easy, always takes longer, always costs more, always requires tools you don’t have, always uncovers more problems, and is maddening. Give yourself grace but know your limitations. ❤
Alex that fireplace looks brilliant, well done 👍
3:35 🥰
Congratulations you have a fireplace.
You must immediately fill it with pine cones and fairy lights.
Alex is an inspiration for anyone who is a DYI home owner!
I would be hugely tempted to lay down some plywood outside and pitch those bricks right out the window. Amazing work, Alex!
I giggled so hard when you posted the tiny "arse" label. Thanks for a minute of mirth. Cheering you on!
I've loved watching Alex tackle the fireplace. She is such a resourceful talented young woman!
Well done Alex! You should be proud you perservered and did that yourself! I think we are all proud of you!
Well done Alex, that was a back breaking job. You have completed a mighty task, you must feel very satisfied. 👏👏👏
What a green paradise you reside in!
Purple Clematis is beautiful 💜 you are very talented Alex & Gail as well as patient! You always prevail 🦋
Well done Alex for persevering through the frustrations. That was certainly labour intensive.
Well done Alex! What a very difficult job! ❤
Alex I don’t know how you both managed everything you do, restoring the house, mudlarking, gardening and jewellery making! You both amaze me❤️
Alex!!! You crack me up- the tiny arse you subbed in while you were crouched in front of the fireplace! 😂😂😂 I can’t wait to see the finished room and thanks for sharing your journey with us.
It’s a LEG! No, it’s a tiny little arse! Cracked me right up. Seriously, though, you guys are absolutely amazing!
The stone on the inside of the fireplace is so cool. It would be cool to take photos of it close up. There is so much character to that stone! Great job! It's going to be so lovely!
Alex, you have done a wonderful job so far. I know you are tired, but hang in there ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜
👍👌👏 Oh WOW, simply fantastic! You are living in such a wonderful, lush green environment. Congratulations 🎉 I simply love nearly anything that is green! 💚
This video was so satisfying. To finally see the fireplace uncovered. So sorry you suffered Alex but thank you for sharing it. I have an old farm house and my husband is often away for work. You've given me the courage to tackle some projects on our 1850 farm house by myself.
The rewards of this work afterwards in the end removes the pain with satisfaction and contentment
Sweaty, dirty and covered in dust Alex you are still amazing! You have done a fantastic job on that fireplace. Can't wait to see how you finish it.
Well done Alex! Your hard work paid off. 👏👍😀

Your perseverance and hard work is paying off Alex. I love my CROCS too😁.
I'm glad to hear your arm is better. It was really hard work, but when done, it's going to look beautiful ❤
A hearth made from all of your found shards sounds stunning and so very special❤
Amazing Alex! Such a great effort!!

Well done Alex and great result!!! Wonderful to see the original stonework and the design of the fireplace. Excellent idea of yours to lay down a temporary floor, tiled with all those ceramic finds you have accumulated.
Well done young lady! You worked your arse off on this project so far, and I know you will perservere. Thanks for taking us along on that dirty job.
I have been in your situation myself. But you have finally beat it!
The fireplace is beautiful and will add to the overall ambience of the room. Functional or not it will enhance the beauty.
Good job! You have such fortitude and you should be proud!
I enjoy watching you and your Mom working around your property. You are both so inspirational!!
Keep up the good work!
Love you both!!
Good job on that fireplace!! It will be fabulous when you are done.
Dear Alex, you were SO patient with that blinking fireplace. I would have given up long before that. Well done that girl! ❤when it’s done you will love it. I could never use a jackhammer so you are 10 points ahead of me10/10😊😊😊 I doubt folk 300 yrs ago would have foreseen a handy young woman with noisy power tools fossiking away in the fireplace. What! No skirts? What! No cap? 😅
You are without a doubt one of the most hard working go get'er young people I have ever seen. ❤
Very good job, well done, Alex. I'm looking forward to seeing the next step.
🤓🌻well done 👏, that was truly a labour of love and frustration. You really should be very proud of your self. 💛🙏
The fireplace is looking awesome. So much hard work you have done to clear it out. I can’t wait to see what you do with it in the future.

I absolutely love the Lost Tower Diaries! Every bit as well as the Northern Mudlarks! You two are just lovely!

Alex, you need one of those large builders tubes to chuck the rubble out of the window. Well done. ❤

Wow🎉it's looking good so far. Loved the sound of the stream and the bird song especially the Cuckoo ❤ your Clematis and the Wisteria is beautiful. Once the purple flowers from the Wisteria bloom it's going to look fabulous ❤❤
You're doing great Alex! I love your vision about using the pottery sherds you have ave collected. Keep up the good work, it will bring a sense of satisfaction and look great when you are done! Take care!
The first minute and thirty seconds of this video soothed my soul in a way I didn't know it needed. Thank you 🩷
So many beautiful bird and nature sounds at the start of the video, thanks for sharing that much appreciated and I'm glad you are making progress!! You girls tackle some serious jobs well done 👍🤩🥰
Great job Alex! Hoping you are well after such an amazing task! Be well, greetings from California….🌷
You could frame in the sides of the fireplace with pieces or your broke dishware finds with the beautiful pics on them. They would need to be flat but grouted in would look amazing. Great work, thanks for sharing.
We started out with taking out 3 of our fireplaces. Then we kept taking layer by layer, and we ended up with huge fireplaces that were so large you could stand in them. We actually put our Rayburn stove into the kitchen one. They were wonderful surprises!
Good job Alex! I know from when my Dad pulled out a fireplace just how hard it was to do - you should be very proud. Love the idea of a pottery hearth. Look forward to seeing what you make 🙂
That,s a great idea.it,s going to look great.
🥰👏 I was so excited to see your post! What a lovely property and such work you've done! Beautiful ❤
*Well done on opening up the fireplace... that was a lot of hard work, You achieved it so be danged proud of yourself for not giving up and completing that part of the job 🙂 onwards and upwards on renovating your bedroom 🙂nz*
Ahhh you looked absolutely shattered at the end there Alex. I'm not at all surprised either. You worked hard on that fire place and what a great job you did. Its going to look fantastic when all done and dusted.
Good luck with the brick clearance. If nothing else, the excertion of taking those down stairs and climbing up again, will give your legs a right old work out. 😮
It will all be worth the hard work your doing. I'm sure this focal point in your bedroom, will set the whole room off to a T. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress you make in this room. Your room will be a joy I'm sure. 😊 x
Hi to your mum too.😊
Beautiful view it'll be totally worth it
I can't wait to see the final results!
Keep going Alex!!!!
brave determined lady. Admire your work ethic.
Wow they put a lot of cement and rocks crazy you are a brave sole to take this on miss Alex
Job well done, Alex!
I have to say your B-roll footage is among the best and most relaxing on the internet. You should consider just putting together some 20-30 min videos with ambient sound and music and selling them.
On a different topic, if you’re going to keep lifting heavy stuff consider getting a set of carry straps to help shift the load to across your shoulders rather that stressing your joints.
If you want to drop the bricks out the window you could use some scrap wood to build a ramp out the window so you could just load the brinks inside and launch them out without having to lean over to toss them out.
your doing a great job alxe, you will get there in the end , and it will be fab x
Congratulations to both of you xx from australia
What a big job, I know it will be worth the hard work❤️
It will look really nice with all the ceramic tiles that you’ve found .. and get a hearth for the bottom .
Totally waiting for an update on this fireplace.... 😇
( Alex do you have any spooky experiences or ghosts in your farmhouse ?)
Long ago I worked with an architectural historian in Northumberland and the stories he had !
👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 standing ovation to you alex - cheered you on the entire way - I hope you are looking forward to the next few steps 🤭 just realized your hilarious bloody font - I hope you continue to protect your self from injuries
It will be gorgeous with the pottery shards tiled down on the hearth.
Alex, you're an amazing woman to tackle that fireplace ! I guess they wanted to make sure anyone who used it again would have to really fight for it, all those bricks and dirt, good grief ! Didn't count on your determination tho ☺I am truly impressed by your tenacity, you will get er done one way or another 😉 Love and hugs 🥰🥰 xx
You amaze me Alex!!!! Thank you so much for bringing us along. You really are such an inspiration ✌️🤍
Good job, and i didn't have to fly over and help you win! win! 😀
You & your mum are such an inspiration to women & girls. You're showing us that we can get the job done w/out relying on someone else to do it. We can do anything. Hope you have time to get out & socialize & let your hair down! Can't wait to see your finished fireplace & bedroom.
Kudos to you young lady for persevering with the fireplace, whoever lived there in your house before you certainly made a mess of it, tfs x Julie
I like the idea that you're going to put the heater in there. And all of that stone and masonry will retain heat and keep it warm.
Great job Alex 👏 ❤
Sharon here... tremendous amount of work on the fireplace. I worry you are over doing at times, you look exhausted. Happy to see you have reached the end of removing bricks , now on to the next part. It sounds lovely what you have planned for the insert. Please take care of yourself Alex. See you and your mom in the next video. ❤☺👍
You got it! Yaayy! It really is a neat fireplace. The stories it could tell. I bet you two have a lot of neat fireplace tiles to use from mudlarking. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Good job, that didn't look easy at all.
Congratulations 🫵🏻 🪨 💪🏻 👏🏻
