He will definitely teach u that laws are meant to be broken. He's such a legend why are drivers still complaining. Could it be Uber is taking too big of a cut in the fares collected.
Poor guy forgot to be politically correct. Whenever he talks about engineers at Uber doing cool things, he says Guys. Even thought obviously his math department is full of guys, you can't actually Admit that Travis. They'll come for your job! Oh wait.. they did.
He refers to the audience as guys in the beginning. It's not a big deal to most except both sides of the culture wars who need something to fight over.
watchers can learn from this and might just become another multi-billionaire if they have the right people, right timing, and just a right amount of luck
How do uber drivers not realize being a driver is effectively a scam. 90% of the money you make is eaten up by gas, taxes, and ESPECIALLY car maintenence that accounts for over 65% of the money you make as an uber driver. And just because you don't fractionally pay for the small increase in tire, engine, brakes, oil, and all the other parts of a car that need to be replaced with usage after every uber shift doesn't mean that is not real. When you include the cost of repairs and maintenance that sky rockets in frequency when using your vehicle as a business vs merely getting you places, the money you make from uber driving is literally around 2-5$ an hour!!! Don't believe me? Look into it. Essentially the scam none of these drivers understand is that drivers are essentially looking for daily or nightly money "in hand" as basically a quick LOAN because in a certain time frame you will be giving 90% + of that money back to repair garages! Think about that. But hey drivers, the good news is you're making Travis rich and you're giving passengers significant savings on the back of your time and car (no pun intended). :-)
Oh the irony here ... Travis talks a lot about valuing drivers which I no doubt he sincerely does. But what he doesn't talk about, and I don't blame him, is that he and uber's number one goal in their business model is to put every single one of THEIR drivers out of work AS SOON AS POSSIBLE by developing and implementing driverless cars for the uber fleet which will significantly increase their profits in multiples. So yes he and uber value their drivers because they enable uber to build their customer base all while uber works to replace their drivers ASAP with robot cars. Lol. Sooooo ironic and hilarious. And yet i've never seen even one article about this irony. Hey UBER drivers, Travis is working extra hard to put you out of work ASAP!!
Because it's not about the drivers it was never about the drivers. It's about consumers and they'll be better off. It's more secure (or definitely will be) having driverless cars - better for consumers, a driverless car can always drive it doesn't have to sleep - better for consumers, you can program it so it's more efficient, etc.
Why can't the camerman show the picture? For godsake
Same quesiton
Because he is just graduated from the arts school and they told him to keep the camera moving to be "arty". Irritating.
I actually think cameraman had done his job well, you are talking about editing problems
It’s a real trip to go back and watch this. Times have changed!!!

What did DC say about Uber?
Is it me or did I miss the advice I was hoping to hear. Lol. This was one big promotional video chat for uber! #HumbleBrag lol
I think this is a great video for an entrepreneur looking for the 'how to implement a business model' if u didn't find the advice, keep looking
you have zero chance at founding a startup if you can’t find advice in this
The GOAT
Uber was good for cities, SF, West LA, NY, but the model doesn't work when you hit the suburbs cause stuff is farther apart. Time is money.
Plus Travis Kalanick's EGO lol 🤣
It works very well in the suburbs of Washington, DC
i am this while traveling in uber
this guy just set up the biggest holdup of the century with the blessing of bankers... 🎰🎰🎰

Great pitch. A lot about growth… zero about profitability or unit economics. Zero has changed Uber is a good product and a terrible business.
He' has done a great job but he didn't get what he deserved. I feel Sad about the ending
2.6 Billion wasn't enough?

It's true. This has been backed by studies that concluded that a full time Uber driver makes much less than the minimum wage.

You are right. I agree and it would be really sad that these drivers will have to find new jobs... but... nobody can stop the coming tech innovations.
