what separates it from something like clash royale is you arent forced to fight against those who paid for faster progress. you got mismatched in war or found a base stronger than you in multiplayer? doesnt matter, just attack lower or tap next. not so much the case in clash royale where youre at a disadvantage if you face off against someone with 1-2 higher level cards
Thats right being free to play in clash royale is a nightmare. You can't use evolution or champion if you are free to play. Unlike clash of clans you can use anything you have even if you are free to play.
COC is massively different from CR. COC was never P2W to begin with since even if you buy thousands of books, gems, and potions you will still fight the same TH level as your own. Same thing to F2P players, they only face the same tier of TH the same as their own. They don't get into a miss match and even if they do they can skip it and get a base the same as your own.
well, clash of clans prioritizes giving you players with the same town hall level as you. you can spend lots of money to max a base, sure. but you can’t buy skill. you can have a completely max base and still barely know how to attack. as far as mobile games go, it really is one of the less egregious ones out there, appreciate the content and figured i’d drop my opinion here.

Coc can't ever be pay to win becuz when you pay for anything in the game you progress faster and meet opponents at that higher level which are "usually" your strength so paying only decreases the time needed to progress
I have about 8k gems on both my th11 and th13 accounts, gem mine makes you 11 gems per day if you upgrade all the way to max, 1-2 obstacles will spawn daily and the gem box spawn every 7 days but there's a trick still working nowadays to make it spawn every 4 days, all that is pretty good for a free to play game, you also have the x4 cheaper discounts, 5 bucks and you get a lot of things, anyone making minimum wage can afford to spend at least 100 yearly in the game but that's your choice imo, the pass is not worth till th11 but that's about to change with th16 coming, so I would go to th12 now to get the most out of that pass, if it takes less than 4 days to upgrade most things, then the bp is still not worth it. You want to have the bp for those upgrades that constantly take 5+ days.
Yes and the pay to win statement is actually wrong, because you dont "win" anything by progressing faster with gems, just speeding up the process. You dont get more skills for attacks and so on

Clash's greatest strength in my mind, cant be pay to win in any stretch of the imagination. You can choose who to attack, and those who pay do so to just accelerate their village strength, which just puts you higher in the matchmaking, resulting in no-one being disadvantaged by you whipping out your wallet. Gems and magic items are more like a convenience than a power, you pay to not have to wait so long and so on. I spend some money on the game and its just for convenience, i find fun in being a top donator and i need 1 gem donations to be the fastest donation slinger on this side of the forest. All items can be gotten for free if you put in the effort and its not unfair.
compared to other supercell games, coc is pay to PROGRESS, not P2W. anyone can max out town hall 15, it will just take less time for the spenders. and i would not consider that P2W.

I’ve always thought the game was F2P friendly but with the announcement of Th16 coming about 6 months early, I’m definitely worried about the game’s future. If they keep adding new th’s early, I don’t think players like me will be able to keep up

Tbis isnt even a debate in my eyes. I've been playing Clash of Clans on and off for ~8 years. Took latger breaks here and there, uninstallled the gane sometimes (but kept my account) and recently came back (TH13 btw). Never felt like this game is P2W. Sure, you gotta grind to collect resources to upgradr your buildings. But theres so many ways to get loot for free: Challlenges, Clan games, clan wars, (sneaky) goblins spam attacks etc etc. Its a super F2P game in my eyes. And I love it.
The game was never P2W to begin with. A rushed base might have access to stronger troops, but said base will always have weaker defenses, weaker troops, and poorly leveled heroes.

the best thing about clash of clans is that you play it at your own pace, trophies are essentially non existent unless you want the league rewards or if you wanna be at the top- you can be as high of a townhall you want with low trophies and its alright cuz ur just farming

In my opinion, the game isnt really P2W at all, as in paying doesnt give you an advantage over others. The only exception for this is when a new Town Hall gets released, aas you can pay to max out first before the others. But for every other Town Hall, you will be matched with others around you. And even if you find someone much higher than you, just skip that base. For war, you cant skip them. But the game matches your clan against another based on war weight. So it wont be too unbalanced. Clan war leauge and Legend Leauge are different. You have to face who you are against. For leauge, if its too hard, your just too high in leauge, too weak. Legend leauge, thats ment for those who are among the highest. the end there is kinda off topic, but just trying to say you mostly got control on who you go against. with how the game matches and stuff, you can progress well. Supercell has got one of the worst and unfair pricing policy. For all those Americans saying 6.99 dollars cheap, 7 dollars converted today into Indian rupees is 583.20 and the gold pass costs 599 rupees which is so huge that only elites can purchase in india. The per capita income of Americans stand at around 70k whereas the per capita income of Indians are just 7k. Average monthly salary here is 10k rupees and 600 rupees is outright crazy 6% of my income. I don't understand how a big company like them failed to understand the basic the economics and just used calculators to decide price. For example Netflix subscription starts at around 10 dollars in America and it starts at around 200 rupees in India because that is the affordable value based on our purchasing power. I hoping for someone to bring this issue but sadly none seems to care in india as not many actively play coc and hence they don't simply care about it.
in clash of clans with the pass you get alot of loot that will be lost if your base is attacked and the the more loot in your storage then more of it can be taken by lower level players
F2p here, and it's been about 3 years or so since I started my last base, and im just getting into th13. Definitely possible to play for free, but it can take quite some time. Especially if you're maxing everything out, and had to go thru the old 6th builder journey
It's definitely F2P, it's just P2S (pay to skip) And there's only one difference between f2p and p2s is the progress, so that's technically not p2w, since every f2p players can obtain what a p2w player can [except specific decorations and skins (even tho f2p players can also get skins for free)] And I'm a th 12 max as a f2p player, and I feel no difference (except the progress as I said ofcourse)
I have been an f2p for years. Now that i can afford it i sometimes buy something (gold pass or 10x value offers) to support Supercell and my favourite content creators.❤
The ONE thing that makes COC far more balanced than a game like clash royale is the fact that it has level caps based on the TH level, someone can be in arena 4 in clash royale and have maxed out king tower in cards and still face low lvl opponents. Not in COC, no matter how fast and far you go, you will ALWAYS face someone more or less equal to you, it is very rare for someone with a th10 to face th8 or th12, they only face 9,10 and 11's, and really they found a nice balance with the troops, no troop of any level in any town hall level is inherently overpowered, strong? Yes, broken? Hell No
COC is type of game that if you spend little you will get significant advantage of progressing but if you spend beyond that the advantage become less significant and pricier

I've been free to play since I started, and this is one of the only games where I've done that. I'm quite proud of myself and want to stand by it. All my friends have bought the pass in the past, because it truly is such amazing value, and adds more to the game in the form of missions, which sometimes doesn't feel worth it for the free to play path. Most of my friends started before me but are now ahead, not that I play the games a ton, and most of them don't anymore, but even with the updates to boost lower level players into higher THs, I doubt I'll ever reach the newest ones at any given time, Infect I keep falling behind, which yes has to do with how little I play, but the rate of ftp vs ptw in terms of progression is so drastically different. Also, I wouldn't mind spending money of some of the skins, I hope they all one day become available with gems, but the ones I want specifically cost money. Am I still considered ftp if I buy these cosmetics?

Genuine skill is absolutely necessary..its extremely easy to make a mistake and fail..paying doesn't give you skill..its completely based off of how well you plan / how well your army is adapted for different bases ..you can buy power but without skill its useless because attacking down diminishes your available loot..gotta attack a player thats roughly the same lvl so rushing th before troops can put you at a real disadvantage...simple armies like barch can net you tons of loot if you search for "dead" bases ....its not so great if all you want to do is collect..its meant to be played..
it does takes a long time, but damn I'm stunned about how fast you can progress the game by just... being very dedicated and active. you can't buy skill, at the higher levels, calculated well executed attacks are what win wars. sure you might be able to steam roll a rushed base and/or a fresh th but to consistently get 3* comes from experience and game knowledge.

Clash of clans is entirely free to play because there is no gameplay locked behind paying. There is nothing you can't get if you wait long enough. Nor are the wait times unreasonable: it's not like you can only use super troops once a year, or clan games only come around once every 6 months. Whether it is pay to win or not is a grey area that depends on your definition. In order to stay at the top of the trophy leaderboards, you have to be attacking almost constantly, and that is only possible if you are constantly paying for instant army training. So yes, in order to "win" you have to pay. If all you care about is reaching legends league or maxing out your base, then no, paying won't give you an advantage. The only difference between a f2p account and a whale at the same town hall level is how old the account is. I would say the most p2w feature in CoC is troop donations (giving players access to troops that the bases they face won't be equipped to face), but even then the donated troops are limited by CC size (preventing things like an electro dragon vs a TH6 base), limits troop level depending on your level, and isn't even a system you have to pay for in the first place. In second place I would say power, hero and super troop potions, but 2 of these don't let you go higher than what you would normally be able to get, and the other can't even be used until you unlock super troops, meaning it also doesn't give you access to something you would normally get.
Its pay to progress not pay to win. Cause you win or loose attacks by skill. And being higher level also face higher opponents, also if someone progress very fast, he might be less skilled on that part.
Compared to clash royale yeah CoC is f2p friendly, There's better game balance with troops and even with powerful ones like e drags you can't get them early on or speed level them to the max level without first upgrading g your town hall unlike how crusher21 showed in some of his vids how you can get the wizard in arena one of clash royale by spending money wheras f2p have to get higher in arena And like I said in another comment so long as hero gear don't become p2w like evolutions or lvl15 in clash royale CoC is probably one of the most f2p friendly games as even pass skins ALWAYS come back in the shop

as a person who's starting clash of clans today and im looking for guides i'd say CoC is f2p. The game is about progression. Anyone who is p2w in this game, will progress to the top while f2p players will still be versing f2p players at the bottom of the list. *f2p will not be affected in the early level stages of the game.* late game wise th13+ i'd say will be a lot harder for f2p players, since you will need to raid a lot to make your upgrades. it takes a lot more time. if time isnt a factor for you then i still wouldn't consider coc a p2w. it all depends on your definition of p2w. If progression is considered p2w then yes. Coc is p2w. Otherwise f2p players can catch up to the highest big whales of the game if you have time at your disposal.
I think, the biggest hit to f2p players is the fact, that th. 16 comes 4 months early... I only had a few lab and pethouse upgrades left before finally being maxed out, but now its not going to happen
The thing you are saying in all the video, is that CoC is a P2F (Pay to fast). If you decided to pay to fast forward your base progress that's on you. However I feel a person who fast-forwards themselves to higher town halls may not spend as much time as a F2P player attacking and learning different army's and strategies. In coc, every level is an experience, and the only thing that spending money does is make it so you spend less time with each experience. Also, you can decide to have a fair battle all you have to do is hit "next". Brawl stars has different experiences at different levels (gadgets, then star powers, then hypercharges), but you're still at a disadvantage because you're bound to get crushed by someone who has up to double your hp and damage bc of a level difference. Clash royale is the worst herem because there is literally nothing different between levels. The levels in cr and a disadvantage and nothing more. coc > brawl > cr im a sweat at brawl and cr so i know what im talking about

Been casually playing f2p for 5 years now. On average maybe 3 attacks a day so really not much. (First year definitely more) Last 2 years always managed to max buildings and troops before a new th level was released, but never all walls. Good enough for me.

Yes and no. You can play the game for free or pay to progress faster which means you'll have an advantage but it's nowhere near as decisive as it is in, say, Clash Royale.

The game was never P2W to begin with. A rushed base might have access to stronger troops, but said base will always have weaker defenses, weaker troops, and poorly leveled heroes.

the best thing about clash of clans is that you play it at your own pace, trophies are essentially non existent unless you want the league rewards or if you wanna be at the top- you can be as high of a townhall you want with low trophies and its alright cuz ur just farming

In my opinion, the game isnt really P2W at all, as in paying doesnt give you an advantage over others. The only exception for this is when a new Town Hall gets released, aas you can pay to max out first before the others. But for every other Town Hall, you will be matched with others around you. And even if you find someone much higher than you, just skip that base.
For war, you cant skip them. But the game matches your clan against another based on war weight. So it wont be too unbalanced. Clan war leauge and Legend Leauge are different. You have to face who you are against. For leauge, if its too hard, your just too high in leauge, too weak. Legend leauge, thats ment for those who are among the highest.
the end there is kinda off topic, but just trying to say you mostly got control on who you go against. with how the game matches and stuff, you can progress well.

Supercell has got one of the worst and unfair pricing policy. For all those Americans saying 6.99 dollars cheap, 7 dollars converted today into Indian rupees is 583.20 and the gold pass costs 599 rupees which is so huge that only elites can purchase in india. The per capita income of Americans stand at around 70k whereas the per capita income of Indians are just 7k. Average monthly salary here is 10k rupees and 600 rupees is outright crazy 6% of my income. I don't understand how a big company like them failed to understand the basic the economics and just used calculators to decide price. For example Netflix subscription starts at around 10 dollars in America and it starts at around 200 rupees in India because that is the affordable value based on our purchasing power. I hoping for someone to bring this issue but sadly none seems to care in india as not many actively play coc and hence they don't simply care about it.

The hero equipment definitely make is pay to win. You get so much less those ores compared to the uses
in clash of clans with the pass you get alot of loot that will be lost if your base is attacked and the the more loot in your storage then more of it can be taken by lower level players

Truly free to play stuff exists only in pirating sites and it's really hard to pirate an online multiplayer game.
F2p here, and it's been about 3 years or so since I started my last base, and im just getting into th13. Definitely possible to play for free, but it can take quite some time. Especially if you're maxing everything out, and had to go thru the old 6th builder journey

The ONE thing that makes COC far more balanced than a game like clash royale is the fact that it has level caps based on the TH level, someone can be in arena 4 in clash royale and have maxed out king tower in cards and still face low lvl opponents.
Not in COC, no matter how fast and far you go, you will ALWAYS face someone more or less equal to you, it is very rare for someone with a th10 to face th8 or th12, they only face 9,10 and 11's, and really they found a nice balance with the troops, no troop of any level in any town hall level is inherently overpowered, strong? Yes, broken? Hell No
COC is type of game that if you spend little you will get significant advantage of progressing but if you spend beyond that the advantage become less significant and pricier

I've been free to play since I started, and this is one of the only games where I've done that. I'm quite proud of myself and want to stand by it. All my friends have bought the pass in the past, because it truly is such amazing value, and adds more to the game in the form of missions, which sometimes doesn't feel worth it for the free to play path. Most of my friends started before me but are now ahead, not that I play the games a ton, and most of them don't anymore, but even with the updates to boost lower level players into higher THs, I doubt I'll ever reach the newest ones at any given time, Infect I keep falling behind, which yes has to do with how little I play, but the rate of ftp vs ptw in terms of progression is so drastically different.
Also, I wouldn't mind spending money of some of the skins, I hope they all one day become available with gems, but the ones I want specifically cost money. Am I still considered ftp if I buy these cosmetics?

Imho CoC is a Pay-to-Skip game, but not Pay-to-Win
Genuine skill is absolutely necessary..its extremely easy to make a mistake and fail..paying doesn't give you skill..its completely based off of how well you plan / how well your army is adapted for different bases ..you can buy power but without skill its useless because attacking down diminishes your available loot..gotta attack a player thats roughly the same lvl so rushing th before troops can put you at a real disadvantage...simple armies like barch can net you tons of loot if you search for "dead" bases ....its not so great if all you want to do is collect..its meant to be played..
Man after th 11 it's almost impossible to get 3 stars if you play like a brain dead

it does takes a long time, but damn I'm stunned about how fast you can progress the game by just... being very dedicated and active. For me 80% is f2p and 20% p2w. Buying things from the store are just skins and things to improve your village fast, townhall 11 is where things gets alot of expensive.
you can't buy skill, at the higher levels, calculated well executed attacks are what win wars. sure you might be able to steam roll a rushed base and/or a fresh th but to consistently get 3* comes from experience and game knowledge.
There is another way to get gems it is the clan games sometimes you get options to choose 30 50 or even 100 gems

- Does spending money give you a massive advantage/progress? *Yes*
*Then it is pay to win*

Clash of clans is entirely free to play because there is no gameplay locked behind paying. There is nothing you can't get if you wait long enough. Nor are the wait times unreasonable: it's not like you can only use super troops once a year, or clan games only come around once every 6 months.
Whether it is pay to win or not is a grey area that depends on your definition.
In order to stay at the top of the trophy leaderboards, you have to be attacking almost constantly, and that is only possible if you are constantly paying for instant army training. So yes, in order to "win" you have to pay.
If all you care about is reaching legends league or maxing out your base, then no, paying won't give you an advantage. The only difference between a f2p account and a whale at the same town hall level is how old the account is.
I would say the most p2w feature in CoC is troop donations (giving players access to troops that the bases they face won't be equipped to face), but even then the donated troops are limited by CC size (preventing things like an electro dragon vs a TH6 base), limits troop level depending on your level, and isn't even a system you have to pay for in the first place.
In second place I would say power, hero and super troop potions, but 2 of these don't let you go higher than what you would normally be able to get, and the other can't even be used until you unlock super troops, meaning it also doesn't give you access to something you would normally get.
Its pay to progress not pay to win. Cause you win or loose attacks by skill. And being higher level also face higher opponents, also if someone progress very fast, he might be less skilled on that part.
Compared to clash royale yeah CoC is f2p friendly,
There's better game balance with troops and even with powerful ones like e drags you can't get them early on or speed level them to the max level without first upgrading g your town hall unlike how crusher21 showed in some of his vids how you can get the wizard in arena one of clash royale by spending money wheras f2p have to get higher in arena

late game wise th13+ i'd say will be a lot harder for f2p players, since you will need to raid a lot to make your upgrades. it takes a lot more time. if time isnt a factor for you then i still wouldn't consider coc a p2w.
it all depends on your definition of p2w. If progression is considered p2w then yes. Coc is p2w. Otherwise f2p players can catch up to the highest big whales of the game if you have time at your disposal.

The thing you are saying in all the video, is that CoC is a P2F (Pay to fast). Unlike P2W, P2F just accelerate the progress meanwhile the rest of the game is almost the same for everyone, sure, you will have an advantage, but an ephemeral one because eventually this will no matter and you'll be on the same level with many other players, its p2f is a little "agressive" one but, CoC was well developed (i'm just worry about *ores)*

If you decided to pay to fast forward your base progress that's on you. However I feel a person who fast-forwards themselves to higher town halls may not spend as much time as a F2P player attacking and learning different army's and strategies. If I where to have a Fully maxed out th16 right now , with my TH12 level attack knowledge I would be lost. Money can't buy experience

Clash of clans is partially p2w, I hope it stays in that "partially" and it doesn't go to "mostly " that would be a huge mistake, the game can for sure keep improving for both sides, the paid and free part.
In coc, every level is an experience, and the only thing that spending money does is make it so you spend less time with each experience. Also, you can decide to have a fair battle all you have to do is hit "next".
Brawl stars has different experiences at different levels (gadgets, then star powers, then hypercharges), but you're still at a disadvantage because you're bound to get crushed by someone who has up to double your hp and damage bc of a level difference.
Clash royale is the worst herem because there is literally nothing different between levels. The levels in cr and a disadvantage and nothing more.

Been casually playing f2p for 5 years now. On average maybe 3 attacks a day so really not much. (First year definitely more) Last 2 years always managed to max buildings and troops before a new th level was released, but never all walls. Good enough for me.
