Dealer shorted your 2nd hand on the 4 aces... house did not pay the envy bonus
What is the envy bonus?
Envy bonus means that if another hand (besides the dealer) hits a big enough hand (usually quads or better?), they’ll get paid a certain amount regardless if that hand wins, loses, or pushes. it’s usually a $5 bet on the fortune bonus to qualify

When you have pair/flush with the ace, play it up top. That’s what the dealer would do. Look at the dealer rules for best odds at winning hands.
10+ years playing, and the only game I love best, had only won twice splitting a pair of aces, with no other pair added. They just finally added the 'bonus' option some 5 years ago at Seneca Niagara Casino. And still can't use cameras of any kind!

I feel like that hand with the quad aces it would’ve been better to put the two real aces up top and then put the joker with the 2’s so you could have trips instead of 2 pair unless 2 pair is better then trips in pai gow
The Joker is only an Ace, or completes a straight or flush. Its not wild so it wouldnt have been trip deuces.

Jokers only complete a straight, a flush, or a straight flush. If they cannot do either of those then the joker is an ace.

Dealers are human, and therefore can make mistakes sometimes! You can always have them check any hands if you are unsure!

No, the joker can only be A, or being used in straight or flush.
The joker can only be used to complete a straight or a flush, otherwise it counts as an Ace.

I’m with you - hate dealing with the 5% and I like being able to save bets with random wild plays (like splitting Aces against a king-high pai gow).
