That's why we love him. He not only gets jokes, he teaches them and tells us the names of the various types of jokes, like tags, misdirection and sarcasm.
He's kind, caring, and is just here to help people. As he says himself "What else am I here for?"

It reminds me of The Love Boat theme but I don't think that's quite it. Perhaps it's influenced by that and some other 80s tv show theme tunes. Maybe composed by Henry Mancini
