First off.. another great video with A-Bs and consistent comparisons. While i cannot stand your test tracks ( really feeling my age😂) recognise and appreciate the effort to get the seamless flow 👍🏻 also using the same tracks from video to video.
Second, listening on headphones while painting picture rails (did i mention i live an exciting life?) There was only one speaker that stood out and that was the HK go and play 3 (is it really go 'plus' play??)
Finally, wish you a really great Christmas and all the best for 2024. You seem a genuine down to earth bloke who deserves success and happiness✌🏻

Watching and listening with my Tribit stormbox blast 💥
Just bought go+ 3 on sale, awesome speaker, have tested it on varius music styles and it just deliver. Bass is not bosted, but man it dig deep when it suppose to. A speaker made for listning to 👍🏻
its boosted a bit but not sculpted like with JBL. yeah im loving mine, gets most played these days but it needs a solid surface for the subwoofer to do its work.

Alan, thank you for all your hard work honestly reviewing speakers. If I may ask for advice, for clarity in sound I should pick Soundcore Motion Plus over Motion Boom?
they are total opposites, boom delivers amazing deepish bass for its size while plus does not have deep bass but much better clarity.

for me yes the go 3 just has a better balance for all round listening. bb3 wifi better for parties but you get atmos and wifi of course.

As the saying goes different strokes for different folks. I genuinely think you cover most angles of what could be important to buyers of portable speakers.
For us, we live in the UK and regularly wild camp throughout the year, in all weather conditions - snow, frost, heavy rain, to beautiful sunshine. Sometimes down to -5/6oC.
We have a pretty impressive collection of JBLs and they have never let us down. There is no facility to charge and they give us great sound all weekend on their batteries. A true test of portable speakers.
yup jbl has proper batteries normally, but then again as a camper dont you have a bunch of solar battery banks?

I know your relationship with the latest Sony speakers, but I think it would be interesting and popular for you to do a review of the Sony XG300 ($175), which has a "warm sound" to your liking. It is a competitor to Xtreme 3 for home use. Think it over. Good luck!

What are your thoughts on using a standardized set of tracks for your reviews? It could make it easier to compare newly launched speakers to models you've previously reviewed.
too boring and anyway different tracks suit different speakers. deep bass speakers require deep bass tracks, would be pointless using them for the little guys for example. of course if all i was doing was trying to be a reviewer i could use the same tracks over and over but thats not what im here for.

yup for me its ticking all the right boxes and is now my go to.
Yes. I just got mine yesterday and I love it, the only thing I wish it had was a IP rating so I could use it in the shower room. I found that I can apply some Apple predesigned EQ settings while using Apple music on iPhone in the settings app which is really nice. I can use the lower bass setting and it lowers the bass and adds more treble. Also I only paid $149 free shipping for mine straight from Harman Kardon, its' the black one but it's still nice. I now like it better than my JBL Xtreme 3, although I do like the extra treble on the Xtreme 3. Love your reviews Alan best info for Bluetooth speakers on TH-cam.

Don't think i said that, what was the context? Dynamic headroom would be the real time filter, dynamic range how low and how high it goes.

Alan will you review the wking d20/x20 when it releases globally. It seems to be yet another jbl boombox 3 competitor, but i think its gonna be closer then the others and it is also the second wking speaker with app support and equalizer.

I got both I like both
Flip 6 is Mono it has deeper bass it is loud for its size 3 Band EQ
Motion 300 good bass louder clearer more eq tuning and longer battery life
Motion 300 I like the design the most
I have also the Motion 100
For someone who'd like to have a more accurate speaker, would you recommend the tribit over these two? I currently have a teufel boomster from 2019, and there is also a new version available now to consider.

@@alanrossreviews Hmm. I have a pretty specific use case... I went to the beach with my Motion Boom right after I bought it and I felt very very tempted to use it as a prop rescue buoy and jump into the surf with it while blasting the Baywatch opening theme. So I did exactly that.
It still worked fine for two years after that, but you could hear the specks of sand if you shook it hard.
(Saltwaterproof: Yes, surprisingly! Sandproof... not so much.)
I only stopped using it because it got stolen recently, so I've been waiting to see if something equally light comes along - even if this feature makes it somewhat easier to steal. If not maybe I'll just buoy another Boom.

yeah it was a surprise to me too, but bb3 has the dipped upper bass bringing out more of the perceived deeper bass. go3 more accurate overall. very nice speaker.

The bass potential of the HK Go+Play 3 is ridiculously good. I put it in bass eq 3 (bass boost). Set it on a nightstand with the unit in the corner of the room and used the Spotify eq to further boost the bass. Just to experiment. It has A LOT of headroom. The amount of deep bass it’s capable of putting out without distortion is insane for the size of the driver. Made the room feel like a dance club (almost). No exaggeration! Way too much for normal listening but was fun to see what it can do.
The surface you put it on will make a big difference of course due to the downward firing subwoofer

Still have the hk go+ play, still kicks ass.. i think the hk, marley bag of riddim and (for the price) the tronsmart bang 2nd edition are my favorite 3. I think the bang is a way better deal than the jbl xtremely priced 3 for example, you can even tune it to sound as harsh as jbl but i would recommend standard eq mode

I bought the Onyx Studio 7 2 years ago because it was on sale for 150€ and it's amazing bass for the price, but the battery is really s*** as you said.
Also even if they say it's stereo I don't really feel it. I'm thinking of getting a small speaker with good stereo separation at some point.
The 7 is my least favourite of the whole series 😳

Hey Alan. I really really do believe in your Audio analysis expertise. I just have got two questions from you. I hope you do reply. Number one question is do you consider HK Onyx Studio 8 one of the greatest bluetooth speakers of all time ? Number two question is why won't you review some more expensive home speakers such as Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin or Bang & Olufsen Beosound A5 and A9 ? I'd like a direct comparison between for example B&O Beosound A5 and HK Go+Play 3 or HK Onyx Studio 8. I'd like to figure out how these more expensive options stack up against my favorite speaker brand Harman Kardon.
no i do not consider the onyx 8 one of the great speakers, where did you get that from? i prefer the onyx 6 personally. I cant review every speaker of course so there is always going to be tons i havent reviewed. i simply cant afford these more expensive speakers since i buy 90% of my speakers myself due to refusing to do paid reviews. these companies are not going to trust the likes of me to have a free hand to give an honest opinion of speakers they want to make a ton of money on and control the narrative.

Alan would you say out of all the speakers you have tested, that the jbl bb3 and wifi go the lowest in hertz bass out of everything?
this really depends on your definition of going deep and how much of that deepness you want. tone test is meaningless. to hear that bass it must be strong relative to mids and highs so the question is how sensitive your ears are to that deep bass. onyyx 5, onyx 6, onyx 8, go play 3 and bb3 all do simialr deep bass but how you hear it over the rest of the track will differ. for example bb3 is a bit sculpted which brings out more boom but go play 3 is quite flat from deep to upper bass so wont sound quite as boom boom but the bass its better overall, basically im saying despite what people keep saying in comments about bass its not an easy topic where you can simply say one goes lower than another. what i will ay is anyone telling you that a speaker does xhz because they did a single test tone sadly has no idea what they are talking about. playing a note and hearing that note in a real track are two different things.

I found one right before Christmas 2023. They're not at every Walmart. I was in electronics and saw an empty spot in a locked display case. The label said encore $150. I figured maybe the mics by themselves or something. I continued on walking around electronics and found one partybox encore just sitting around winking at me like hey come check me out, I was meant for you. It was brand new, I looked around making sure nobody else claimed it and took it home for $150. It's a monster and helps loosen things up when I'm constipated with that bass.

Go 3 has more bass all across the board... you must have not watched the video. BB3 has horrible listening fatigue because of the boosted treble.
I recently bought an onyx 6 and go plus play 3. The onyx 6 was $100, the play 3 was $130. I already had a boombox 2 that cost me $300 a couple years ago. I've done my tests with them and they all rock. Bang for the buck though is the studio 6. It sometimes has better low bass than the other two. It cost me the least and is the most portable and is well built. I bought one for my brother in law after his Walmart gorilla boom or whatever it is shit the bed.

I have a question. Is it possible to reduce the boombox 3 mid peak by reducing the mids in app? To make it more balanced.
I thought the same
Poweramp EQ, try to put the 500hz slider to 9 or 10db, put the 1khz to 6.3db and try compress that 700hz peak using the compressor limiter of the app. Select the 700hz from the compressor and max its gain.
Anker motion 100 ou soundcore boost?
Not using their 3 band eq but yes 3rd party apps can do it but for me they all effect the sound in other ways. There is no free lunch. It's layered eq at the end of the day.

When going above 50%, reducing the mids will make it less screechy, but the bass performance... Pretty amazed, considering its something portable. Hmmm so sounds to me like: Buy a HK Go to listen to inside, buy a boombox to lug around outside, buy an Onyx Studio as room decor, and buy an x600 for the mother-in-law 😄

Hi from Italy 👋 I got my boombox2 last year on sale for €329 and i'm very happy with it 🤗
Just got the boombox 3, and ye... It sounds amazing. Till about 40-50% volume the default flat eq is fine, great clarity. But going past that, bass +1, mids -1, highs 0 becomes better balanced, not too harsh. Overall, for something this portable, excellent! Got it for 290, was deciding between this and the stormbox blast, but the blast was 260 here... Also have the onyx 5 and 7, motion + and motion boom. Overall the boombox is the favorite now.
If you like the o5 i think you would love the go+ 3
@@alanrossreviews Yeah, onyx 5 was my favorite before the bb3. It has great smooth and warm sound signature, not harsh, great deep rumble... The only big issue for me is Harman speaker battery life... Go play 3 looks visually very nice, but in my country the only available option sells for 473eur.. So compared to the bb3, bb3 was a bargain :D
Just snatched a storm box blast for 142 dollars on Amazon. I also have a bb3 I just hate that the battery life is atrocious at full volume I only got about 2 hours.
@@Chriselchingon23 Idk, I don't use it above 70-80%, because it still has balance between highs and bass, above that it's just too loud and I don't feel the bass as much as I would like to. Battery seems fine.
I usually don’t blast it that high but that day my friend and I were at the beach and he likes his music loud plus there was someone next to us blaring their boombox 2 and mine was louder but died in 2 hours theirs kept going til we left. 6 hours later 😏
I see W-KING D320 in the back ground I got 2 it’s the Loudest Speaker For its size no to little distortion on flat eq I mostly use it outdoor on max volume

The WiFi edition is only better if you want to use the speaker exclusively at home/indoors. It is also overpriced for not having a better codec and lacking the AUX input is simply ridiculous.

The Harman Kardon GO + PLAY 3 is extremely good speaker for the price. I was surprised that the JBL Boombox 3 (the more expensive speaker) got beaten by the Harman Kardon!
Well beat depends on what you value. Bb3 is a better party speaker while go3 is better for serious listening.
That jbl. spike at 100% volume at 700 hertz is already disturbing. The Harman kardon seems interesting, especially since it has a separate subwoofer. It seems like a functioning three-way speaker.

My local Walmart has the boombox 3 for $380. Better than $500 but still too expensive. Knock the price in half or more and maybe. Patience and wait for jbl and Harman kardon to drop prices a lot.

well i havent heard the x100 but if its anything like the xb13 id go wonderboom 3, but also the soundcore mini is better than the xb13, but maybe the xb100 is a lot better now.

@@MaximoAtonducan it's not like Xtreme 3 GG. It's more like Xtreme 3 ND. But without that 700hz peak. Boombox 3, is the only speaker, that had this issue unfixable.
But the WiFi Edition, doesn't have this problems, even those authentics or partyboxes like encore, otg, etc. doesn't have this kind of strange problem.
But i can get rid temporarily the 700hz peak or 730hz peak depends on the measurement. I can get rid of it using the compressor of Poweramp EQ. But is only temporary

i blast the boombox 3 at work and listen to it quietly at home and it sounds so much better at lower volumes. i always plug my phone in too, i never use bluetooth. i use the "EQ" to up the bass +1 sounds best that way imo.

Из всех трех представленных - я бы выбрал... 2 штуки Onyx Studio 8 и объединил их в стереопару. По цене это будет примерно одинаково - как одна Jbl Boombox 3 или одна Go Play 3. Все-таки стереоэффект от двух разнесенных на пару-тройку метров колонок - будет производить совершенно другое впечатление, чем одиночная колонка.
ну да, два динамика будут звучать лучше, как и большинство динамиков.
