Pose at your table and move to the display for balance checks is my best tip.

    Step one: articulate the joints
Step two: continue doing this until it is in a pose you like

Now you have to a video with goofy/funny poses 😅
    +/- a kneeling pose

I will definitely have to make a video for those poses 😂
I did however make a video for posing any figure, no matter what size, and I did cover how to cover how to do a kneeling pose 😊👍

A lot of my figures have swords and shields. Do you have any ideas for posing them?

Hmm 🤔 good question. This an option you could do. 1.) bring one leg forward and bend the knee. 2.) Move the opposite leg out to the side without bending the knee to even out the stance. 3.) Rotate the torso towards the forward leg (if the figure has ab rotation of course). 4.) With the forward arm, bring the arm forward, rotate the bicep swivel inward, bend the elbow 90°, and generally try to get the arm as much as front of the chest as possible. This will be the arm for the shield. 5.) With the other arm, bring the arm slightly outward, rotate the bicep swivel outwards between 45° and 90°, and bend the elbow around 45°. This is your hand for the sword. Finally do any minor adjustments you may need to.
I know it might be difficult to follow with text compared to my visuals in my videos, but hopefully this helps you out. Maybe in the future I can make a video for figures with swords and shields 🙂👍
The last best piece of advice is, and it sounds kinda silly, but try to make the pose you want your figure in with your body and think about how your body is positioned. That's what I always do if I want a figure in a certain position and I can't quite figure out how to position it. Once again, I hope this helps you out!
