As a topper, I what I mainly do is (as an Indian Student): 1: Listen to what the teacher is saying 2: When the teacher goes off topic to give their life story, open your textbook and start highlighting the important parts (don't highlight entire paragraphs no point.) 3: When the teacher is explaining and you have a doubt, write your question/doubt down in the back of your notebook (teachers here don't like random things written in our books) and the when you go home, research the topic a bit to clear your doubt, then go to the teacher and ask him/her. 4: Controversial but in my opinion I like taking aesthetic notes as they for some reason help me memorize and make me willingly study. Hope this helps :D
As a topper who barely studies, this video is the exact representation of students like me. 1. I hardly pay any attention when the teacher goes off topic or when the particular topic needs to be just crammed. But yes apart from that in subjects like sciences, I pay 100% of my attention towards what is being taught. 2. I also often saw majority of the kids just writing down the notes during class rather that actually trying to understand the main logic behined that thing. This is the main difference between an average student and a topper. 3. The non linear note taking strategy is damn true! Whenever I jot down my notes those are never in a "Perfect Handwriting". Rather they are so messy but perfectly framed that sometimes my friends start questioning me that how am I able to study from them but trust me, it's really really helpful.
i have a genuine doubt, do u mean to say that when the teacher is verbally giving you notes u dont jot it down then and write it later after summarizing it or u just jot down the verbal notes at that instance. Or if ur teacher is not givin u verbal notes and u just take down mental/written short key points in rough? Here at my school they either verbally give notes or show us a presentation. if u can advice me on this pls do. and yeah one more doubt is it imp to make notes at home?
@@rishavraj7bsn611 Hi! No, we don't take notes as the teacher speaks. Listening and then summarizing is closer to what we do, but it's not just about creating something to review before exams. For us, by the time we finish writing our notes, everything's already clear. Notes are like an extension of your brain in that moment. We listen to the teacher, try to understand the logic, piece it together and make sense of it in our head, then we jot it down in paper to make it more 'concrete'. By the time we have finished writing, we already understand it and we barely need the notes anymore. Non linear note taking means notes are the most useful during writing, not for exam prep. (If we really forget something later, a quick glance usually brings it all back. That's the only way we use notes before exams.) It's kind of like doing maths in your head and jotting down numbers to keep track, because you're using the paper as an extention of your brain. Its not the perfect analogy, but it is similar. No, it is not important to make notes at home. However, you should think about the notes you've made in class. Stay immersed, especially the first few days, and leverage spaced repetition. If you're still confused after class, that’s when taking notes at home can help-just make sure you find resources to clear things up. Hope this helps :)

I usually sat on the back since I was tall (and it was honestly distracting), but during that discussion, I sat on the floor in front. I did not do any note taking, and I just listened attentively. On the next day, the teacher did a surprise quiz! My classmates were panicking while I didn't. In the end, I aced the test. Memorize by doing note or jote down what you remember then improve what you missing

As an indian student, all the teachers do is tell you to write notes and only explain a small part. They actually give us notes and expect us to write it all down. If we dont, then 0 in MLM (maintainence of learning material) (?) so what should i do????? Plus subjects like hindi are really hard and annoying. Before exams, i just HAVE to cramp all the 'knowledge ' down my head. Please help me.
Pls reply quickly....
Thanks in advance
