I have loved Kenny Roger's music all my life. As a young boy I used to get teased for liking country music. But Kenny Rogers was more than just a country artist. He was a story teller. So long Gambler.

Robere Brown I know what you mean. I grew up in suburban Austin, Texas as a teen in the 80’s. Listening to or liking country music was NOT cool, even pop country. That’s the music our late silent-early Baby Boomer parents listened to on country or adult contemporary stations.
Listened to Kenny Rogers songs today and many songs brought me to tears. Thinking back when he stole our hearts with his awesome voice, storylines and music. Kenny Rogers “ Decorated my life” Thank you for the memories😢

Your voice was my childhood. Your concert was my first. My parents brought my sisters and me up on Kenny Rogers music spanning back to the 60’s. So many memories that include your music. Also, we loved ‘The Gambler’ movies and we would watch them as a family. You decorated our lives, Kenny. May you rest peacefully at that heavenly Island in the Stream. God bless your loved ones.🕊🤍🌹

Kenny Rogers is retiring and here in the Philippines many great artist had there tours from James Ingram, America, Chicago, Michael Jackson etc...and yeh! Taylor Swift came but we have been waiting for a true Country Artist for forever because little know that Country Music is big internationally.

Rest in peace Kenny Roger's. One of the person who close to me has died on the 10th Feb, most of your song he always played every morning when he wakes up, before he died he requested one of his favourite songs to play in his funeral, one of his 3 choices was lady, she's believe in me, and island in the stream. So we all decided to play island in the stream. He died at the age of 84. When I looked at Kenny Roger's face now he had a similarity look. I was grow up with his music since I was a teenager. On his way in, when island in the stream was played inside a church everyone faces lit up and smiles to each other.
So sad but you and your music will go on forever. Your song 'OLD FOLKS' so beautiful and so true.

I saw you Kenny in 1980 at Rosemont Horizon, Illinois. We couldn't find our car, so we rode in "All the Presidents Men" tour bus back to a party at your hotel. There I met you. Rest in peace my friend.
BTW, there was no alcohol at that party or on the tour bus. He didn't allow it.

Kenny sounds like he has some form of COPD in this interview. Reminds me of a family member that had emphysema. and another family member that had pulmonary fibrosis. Just cant seem to get enough breath. So they have to take short breaths. Then again, I sound the same when I have an allergic reaction that effects my breathing. Just cannot get a deep enough breath.
