Love what you guys did here - great to revisit so much from the past 10 years in a way not normally explored. But in all honesty, I’m kind of surprised neither of you mentioned Summer - as a sub/supporting character, she's clearly the most dominant force throughout the entire show, even though we rarely see her, and she's always present in almost everything the show explores. I can’t think of another character who has had more of an impact on almost everyone than she has. Hence, for the record, and for what its worth, my list is as follows: 1. Summer (as stated) 2. Pyrrha (she set the bar, took the first shot, and is aways with us) 3. Penny (Say no more) 4. Emerald (Best redemption arc around. Plus green hair always wins.) 5. Winter (Second best redemption arc) 6. Qrow (Most complex character - still need to know why he's drinking so much, but after Volume 9 I think we can begin to speculate) 7. Watts (Best monologue. Ever.) 8. Ilya (Surprising hate/love relationship with her - third best redemption arc) 9. Maria (You guys said it all) 10. Roman (Best - and first - bad guy ever.) Keep up there great RWBY content.
Great points, and I love your list! I can't speak for Dan, but at least for me, I didn't include Summer because we haven't truly seen much of her. She's been incredibly important, but we know we will learn more about her in time. So I was waiting to see more of her as a character rather than a plot device before judging her alongside the rest of the characters. This video was before Volume 9 as well, but even now I still would personally rather get to know more of her before considering her. I can definitely see her being around the top when that happens though!
This was a fun ride to hear you guys favourite supporting characters from RWBY ^^ Here are my top 3: 1. Neo 2. Penny 3. Velvet I love these characters so much ^^ Amazing video you two ^^
I'll toss some of mine out there, also going to try to keep to the same idea as these vids were namely pre-v9: 1. Maria: Just comedic gold and happens to also be totally badass too. 2. Ilia: I just love the cinnamon roll and what she represents within the Menagerie arc. Also I have to put in bonus points for being the first confirmed LGBT+ character. 3. Sun: More excluding/setting aside certain behaviors of his in v4 and I'm sure as would be surprising to some as I am a BB'er; he's a fun character most of the time, a good bro for Blake, and Michael is great as his voice. I'd actually say there's quite a few BB'ers that enjoy him, that shifts whenever anti-BB'ers or the bad section of BS'ers act like he's an MC and/or only valid romantic option for Blake (or is owed romance). Outside of that and v4, a good portion are fine with him. Totally see him popping the biggest fireworks for the bees in v10 cause he's happy for his friends. 4. Emerald: I've actually always been rooting for her to switch sides, specifically because of her feeling sympathetic. Her disgusted reaction to the carnage of v3 gave the seed for it and really glad it happened. 5. Klein: Weiss's support and true father figure; also like how he shifts between personalities. Should be noted that many I wouldn't count as support, namely any that got either major focus or emphasis. Raven, Winter, Penny, Watts, Qrow, and Roman = all having major focus within story arcs.
