  • Money is the sixth track from English progressive rock band Pink Floyd's 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon. Written by bassist Roger Waters, it opened side two of the original vinyl LP, and is the only song on the album to enter the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Money" is particularly notable for its unusual 7/4--4/4 time signature, its distinctive bassline and the seven-beat "loop" of money-related sound effects that opens the track: coins clinking, a cash register ringing, etc.
this is the Alternative version of Money, taken from Abbey Road. it includes some things which doesn't appear in the studio version.

This is quite rare. David Gilmour sounds like he's having fun.

Dont know why but i always find poorly mixed songs superior than over produced ones
    more soul and aggressiveness

GIlmour's adlibs on the breakdown are hilarious!

I've heard this version before. Look it up. It's from something called One Side of the Moon. People are debating whether this is an "outfake" with somebody adding guitars and effects after the fact. Others think that it was the abandoned 12" single version. According to the defunct website apparently, it's rumored, that someone got a bootleg version of the 2nd side of Dark Side of the Moon straight from the master board. I noticed that NOT only David Gilmour's voice is more subdued BUT ALL the "interviews" are missing. It's more guitar driven and heavier than the album version. IF you listen to the later "remastered" versions in the 2000's, you CAN faintly hear some of the "differences" that are punched up here. This is an awesome alternate version!

      I don't think 12" singles were really a thing in the 70s.

@@progmeup YES they were! I remember people in my dorm buying them ALL the time. HALF speed Master recordings ALSO became a thing as well. HOWEVER I admit that the trends DIDN'T Last long.

Wow, this is so weird without echoing on David's Voice, but it still.sounds good. I'm just glad they fixed it up though, I like the new version better

I thought Rick may have done the lead vocals on this version he and Dave sound alot alike EX: Wright's lead vocals on echos: PF live at Pompeii sound more Gilmore than Gilmore heh.

This is definitely David, Rick doesn't have that rough edge that David can come up with.
