    That thing is gorgeous! I have the 2020 Grizzly and it’s absolutely awesome but it’s almost overkill for what I do. I’d be perfectly happy with that Kodiak too. Just love that color - even more than what I got. I just couldn’t turn down the deal I got at the time with the winch and all. Hope I see more videos of this. 👍

      I appreciate the compliment! I really wanted this color and because I was kinda late in the model year shopping for one I had search far out to find one in this color still available. I’ve always liked blue color on a Yamaha. Yeah I hear ya, the Grizzly is a great machine also and I would’ve been happy with it as well, but I really like the Kodiak for me overall. Which color Grizzly did you get the silver SE or the X-TR bronze/black one? We have posted new videos of this machine and there will be definitely more in the future so stay tuned! Thanks for watching!

    I’m picking up my 2021 EPS tomorrow. Same color...but steel wheels. 👍🏼 My wife is waiting on delivery of her EPS SE.

    Still happy with your purchase? Im between a honda foreman or rubicon (though budget is important... its a tool im sending to my mom to help her on her property) but a local dealer has a 23 Kodiak EPS SE on sale for $9299. I wasnt even considering these but when I saw the price and the value of the Kodiak (an auto, with winch, independent rear suspension, 700CC engine, etc) I really am giving it a second look. People swear by the Hondas, but Im thinking a bigger engine like the Kodiak 700 would be helpful when an attached snowplow is pushing a few feet of fresh utah snow. Thank you in advance for your comments.

      Absolutely love the Kodiak 700!
      The 700 engine just keeps giving power when I need it and for what I do I haven’t run out of torque. I’m finding that now that I ride a lot of mountain trails that the Kodiak is just the better machine for me on the steep climbs. The bonus of it all is it’s just plain fun when you get into the throttle anytime. My Rancher will certainly do the climbs but it’s in a strain a lot more often sometimes the throttle might be pinned on some climbs for example where as on the Kodiak that is nowhere near the case with it. I think you’ve got the right idea about pushing snow going with the Kodiak. For me the Ultramatic transmission on the Kodiak is night and day difference from the DCT Honda has. It’s so smooth and it’s always adapting to terrain and or load changes that are placed on the machine. It will surprise you what it can do in high range. Low range works well for heavier work or climbing steep technical terrain or if you want to go really slow like when using a sprayer on the back, etc. I find that the DCT on my Rancher does ok around home but once I started taking it to the mountain trails it seems to not be able to constantly adapt to the terrain changes and is in either too low or too high of a gear. I think the Honda’s are still good machines but when it came time for me to buy another atv I was like you and looked at how much more I was getting for my money with the Kodiak. I think your mom would find using the Kodiak enjoyable and easy. My wife has started taking a liking to my Kodiak the more she rides it.
      My recommendation would absolutely be the Kodiak 700 EPS SE.
      Apologies for the lengthy reply. Hope this helps you out. Stay tuned in near future I will be trying to make a long term review on my Kodiak 700.

      @@Palomino488 that you for the lengthy response. It’s much appreciated. I can’t believe the Kodiak was never on my radar. Seems like you’re getting so much machine for the same price as the Honda. Simple things like gas tank size, gear shift lever vs buttons (much easier for my mother to comprehend lol) factory winch (at least on SE… all this and you’re stop getting nearly 700CCs. I was a bit disheartened when I saw how much fees were tacked onto the sale. Dealer has the 700 EPS SE marked down $1700 but had $200 in docs, $600 in freight, and $550 in setup. Are these prices that should be expected? I realize a lot sure has changed since you picked up your 2019… hell just the starting price is a ton higher. I don’t have a ton of deal references, as this is my first new powersports purchase and our friends all have big SXS’s (which obviously would cost more than a rather simple utility atv, but I’d would love your input to know if those numbers are to be expected or if the are really high. I haven’t started the negotiation, but I wondered how much of those fees are negotiable. Thanks again for you response. I have sub’d and look forward to your long term review. I think a lot of people would appreciate your honest and thorough comments.

    • @Palomino488
      @Palomino488  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the prices of it all just keep going up each year. I’m not sure if the fees are negotiable. In my experience best you can aim for is getting your sale price down as much as possible. It’s good that the machine is marked down some already although the fees seem to cancel that out. They always get you with the dealer fees and tax. Time it’s all said and done it’s always going to be higher than what the sale price is. I think if it’s what you want you should go for it. Most all of the dealers tack on a bunch of silly fees. Thanks for subbing.

    What are your thoughts on people saying these run hot? did you notice any excessive engine heat?

    • @Palomino488
      @Palomino488  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, they put off more heat than some other atvs I’ve owned, but I wouldn’t say it’s excessive. I was able to ride with shorts on in 100 degree summer heat without it burning my legs.
      I recently deleted the AIS system on mine which introduces air into the exhaust system up at the header pipe/ manifold area. Since I have done that I have noticed a reduction in heat and EGT’s. I believe from my experience so far with this machine that the exhaust system was the culprit for the majority of the heat I felt when it was completely stock with AIS. The purpose of the AIS system is to raise EGT’s hotter to make the catalytic converter inside the muffler burn hotter to function more efficiently for burning off emissions. So deleting the AIS I can tell has reduced the heat. Many people talk of adding a fuel controller/tuner to correct the lean air fuel ratio set to meet emissions standards, but I have yet to do that. I’m undecided on that modification at this time. I will say that I am very pleased with how my Kodiak runs as it is now and the AIS delete did reduce heat overall as well as EGT’s and the popping in the exhaust on deceleration had been drastically reduced as well. Hope that helps some. Thanks for watching

  • @frydaddy1535
    @frydaddy1535 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very jealous. Been eyeing the 450 for all the same reasons you did, Grizzly seems bulkier then the Kodiak with comparable power. Is scarlet going to start riding the Rancher now?

    • @Palomino488
      @Palomino488  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I considered the 450 as well. It is a nice machine. It seems often times at some dealers that you can find a really sweet deal on the 700 Kodiak that puts it right around the price of the 450. That 450 is a very nimble handling machine. Yes, Scarlet is moving up to the Rancher now, she’s looking forward to the extra comfort of the Rancher. Thanks for watching!

    the air filter and the housing is very vunerable to letting dirt in the motor... google it... dont damage your engine...jmo... good luck with it...

    • @Palomino488
      @Palomino488  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Trust me, we did a lot of research before choosing this machine. They definitely made some improvements to the Air Filter fitment for the 2019 and newer models, but you’re right, it is still an area of concern. We already have it on the list of mods to upgrade so that we can do what we can to better protect the engine. Thanks for Watching!!!
