From a spectator’s perspective the ref may look good. But from a ref’s perspective she was below average. Her positioning was poor and she kept turning her back on key points of the game (causing her to miss the head butt and supposed ‘punch’. Head butt was a definite red card offence and although the ‘punch’ wasn’t, she had no way of knowing as she was looking the other way).
Also, she wasn’t assertive enough and so her actions caused the match to get out of control. When you call a player towards you, you ensure they come to you, not you run over to them. It completely undermines your authority. This, twinned with not giving any one of those first half yellows showed both teams that she lacked the assertiveness to control the game and so they kept pushing their luck and getting away with it.
If she didn’t receive a disciplinary meeting for this game I’d be surprised. Missing two reds without suitable reason is big. She could possibly have argued her case about the tackle from behind given she saw the offence and acted upon her judgement (a yellow) although her judgement was incorrect, they may have let her off. But after seeing the two players square up to each other and even yelling to them to stop, she then moved herself into a position where she could no longer see them, therefore missing the head butt. If she hadn’t seen them in the first place and hadn’t yelled to them to stop their aggressive behaviour because her attention was on the area near where the ball was then she’d be off the hook, but unfortunately she did see them and she did yell, and therefore she is to blame for missing what happened next.
I doubt she’d have been fined or demoted if this is her first disciplinary but she’d definitely have to attend training workshops. Much training required for sure.

Minutes not mentioned were correct. Referee needs to get a better body language, confidence, leadership and positioning. And of course get better at assessing situations.

I agree with most of your comments with the exception of 12:04. I thought it was inconsequential to the play and he was making a play on the ball (even though he didnt get it). What was wrong with her body language? I thought her gestures when speaking with the players were quite confident

I dont't think they are so terrible actually... they are very annoying and sometime aggressive in a wrong way, but I've played football all my life and I think that for an amateur league the level is not bad... of course if you base your judgement on professionals you will never find an amateur player good enough for your standarda, but in fact these players are quite athletic and some of them have a more than decent technique.

It's just the standard serbian sports mentality (can confirm, am a serb). Personally never understood why we always antagonize the referees.
I play on Polish Eagles, been playing vs most of Serbia for the past 10 years, been on same team, indoor outdoor etc... They don't care. As long as they win, they'll do anything to win

Ref blew whistle and before she can grab the card they are crying for a card. If I’m the ref I’m putting my hands back my my side and not giving a card. The more you scream and cry for a card the more likely I’m not going to give it. Not tell me how to do my job just like I’m not telling you how to do yours.

She lost control of the game early on by not issuing yellows to Red. Unfortunately, this resulted in the game breaking down early on, and mid way through, the frustration of the players was evident.
Case and point, the Red keeper is in the attacking 1/3rd to complain on a late challenge and no action by the official. Really sad!
Agreed! Well managed. Stern and found a nice balance between calling everything and letting them play while still maintaining safety and control. Some teams and some games are going to be loud and obnoxious no matter what you do. I think that was well played many players were getting in her face trying to intimidate her and she was stern and controlling, excellent man managment performance

this ref was really good apart from a couple questionable yellow cards she done a really good job at allowing the game to play on making it a really entertaining game maybe see her ref a big league game one time she keeps this up she deserves it.
Not good at all. Several missed yellow cards and two missed red cards. No control or leadership.
She was mediocre. She didn’t have help from her ARs and she allowed the control of the game to get away from her early on. She will get better, but lots of areas of improvement

Thats leadership. She stays calm, explains her decisions on a assertive way and puts in the right interventions to de-escalate. Players respect her because she gives them the feeling they are heard and seen. Wouldnt be surprised if she is a teacher or youth worker during the week.
Just a lurker with your videos but had to make a comment. Based on what I've seen in these videos, this ref was absolutely class. Handled and managed all the bullshit, didn't let things get out of control, and made great decisive calls in the moment (maybe missed a red, but). Well done. Used to seeing things just get out of hand (which is why I watch the series :) ), but it was great to see a it managed for once

With all the diving I'm surprised she did so well. I ref in the UK and as yet not seen performances like these players and most on this channel. It's such a shame its come to this.

Red team are a bunch of crybabies. Ref how many times? How many times will I say ref and cry about a call.
This is why people don't want to Ref. To her credit, she controlled the game. Both teams played a pretty ragged game of soccer. Late, undisciplined fouls. Whining after every play. Red was the worse of the two, but man, STFU and play. Some brutally late slide tackles. If you're always on the ground, you're out of shape, out of position, and need to rethink your ability to play the game. Better side one.
Clickbaity to use the term "Hard-Line". As a referee, I don't think that she wasn't hard-line at all. A few fouls that I'd have considered issuing yellow cards, she took the player aside and gave them warnings. She was calm and spoke respectfully to the players. She played advantage well, and didn't call 50/50 tackles. It's an amateur level game, the players aren't top level so there's always going to be a few late/lazy tackles. But, I think that she kept control of this game really well.
More than once, players touch her. At the start of every game, I have a pre-game chat to both teams - just to lay out my rules and limits. I try to keep it casual and friendly (I referee amateur games, I'm doing it because I love the game - not because I'm looking to get rich from it). I ALWAYS include something like "The only person I like touching me is my girlfriend, so keep your hands to yourselves". During games, I am strict with any player who touches/pushes/pulls me. The rules say you don't do it, I've told you not to do it beforehand - you will get in trouble if you do (in fact, this is one of the ridiculous things I see at top level games - referees never punish it, so lower level players think it's fine too). I, completely, understand when she tells every player, loudly, not to touch her.
That young lady Ref did a great job with these whinny a$$ punks crying about everything. Just play the sport you are supposed to like. You are never going to make a living off this. It's recreational. I'm' surprised y'all get refs at all for this embarrassing display.
I dont see what everyone is watching. Yes she stood up to the cry babies, but she missed a blatant penalty, a blatant straight red card and her asistants didnt help her at all. Probably one of the best displays of refereeing I’ve seen on one of these videos. Got the big calls right IMO, the “head butt” was out of vision and the assistant could have helped her out. Good communication and great advantage for the second goal.
When white player 5 performed a slide tackle from behind with studs up and hits red on the back of the calf/Achilles that should have been straight red card in any game. This is serious foul play

Best game I’ve seen covered from IST. There’s quality soccer going on here, from both sides. Red took a lot of shit but if I played after complaining, she did a fantastic job calling this game at a high level. Great stuff all around

I believe the referee was quite good. The only questionable decision was not giving a red card for the tackle form behind, other than that I loved the performance of the ref. Lenient when applicable and strict and firm when required.
