The Bangladesh Air Force is the aerial warfare branch of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. The Air Force is primarily responsible for air defence of Bangladesh's sovereign territory as well as providing air support to the Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Navy. Furthermore, the BAF has a territorial role in providing tactical and strategic air transport and logistics capability for the country.
Since its establishment on 28 September 1971, the Air Force has been involved in various combat and humanitarian operations, from the Bangladesh Liberation War in which it was born, to supporting international efforts including United Nations peacekeeping missions.

Bangladesh should focus self dependent. As a indian i suggest them bangla brother focus on Bangladesh made fighter jet. Atleast u should think to start on this. For thats time gap u purchase jet from western country to defence ur air. But also target defence ur country made by Bangladesh machine. For this u make partner with ur friendly country like india russia france etc but always try transfer of technology because ultimate self dependent in defence must today war time.

Though the BAF CHENGDU F7 and the Mig29 are obsolete but these fighter aircraft still are capable to effectively fight the adversary, these F7bgi use Italy made radar and targeting pod. The Mig29 recently has been upgraded from Belarus. These F7 and Mig29 has to be retired and be replaced by 5th generation fighter aircraft. There is possibility that the BAF WILL ACQUIRE THE FRANCE MADE 5th generation RAFAL multi role fighter aircraft . The Rafale is a very capable 5th generation fighter aircraft. The BAF ALSO WILL have to train BAF PERSONNEL for servicing and repairing of these Rafale fighter aircraft in Bangladesh. BAF can acquire some Chinese made J10C fighter aircraft from China which are installed with Italy made radar and targeting pod but which use the Chinese made PL AA missiles and Chinese made ground strike weapons. The BAF should acquire 5th generation multi role fighter aircraft immediately to make BAF capable to defend the Bangladesh territories effectively.
BAF needs to sell off everything including the lands and government should scrap all three forces and replace it with one border guard force. No country with right mind will ever try to take over the headache!!! All three forces only exist for corruption, that segment of the budget should go to better causes. The forces are only playing dirty political games and are heavily involved in commercial ventures ie hotels/shopping centres/land developments etc…… this is beyond joke lol… government only pouring money to these forces to ensure that they can remain in power…. That’s all👍

No, they are not considering to acquire Rafale cuz India has also the same aircrafts. They are more interested in buying Eurofighter .

Holistic and prudent gesture from Bangladesh for not spending precious foreign reserves on purchases of sophisticated fighter jets. Challenging neighbour India is no good option, and other neighbour Myanmar would never be a threat to Bangladesh as long as they have good relations with India.
