Can’t remember how many times teams struggle all year come into Miami and have their best game of the season things they normally struggle at they excel against us because all you have to do is motion against the 24 squad and your assured a big play with ease
I mean 13 games in had weeks to prepare for this one and yet we still look like deer in headlights as soon as a team motions so to me that’s like what is our process of improving these things because it seems like they don’t even address it at all in practice or meetings theres nobody being called out nobody being held accountable we have no leader ether on defense now that cam is gone that second half is what we’re looking at going forward 6-6 if we’re lucky

I’m a fan from the early 80 for years now we spoke about lack of talent on Miami teams I’m tired of hearing that we play in one of the worst league the ACC and our record prove that 1-8 in bowl games. I’m tired of the incompetent coaches we bring in to Miami Bain was better when he came out of High School no development no schematic and what have been our game plan and I believe we don’t have have a coach for special teams just waste so much talent at Miami. Mario has 6 years left on his massive contract after next year. Our booster base is not big enough to fund an early buyout for another 2 or 3 years after 2025. Unless Mario quits early, the program is stuck with him. Mario needs to quit early -- as he did to the team in the Pop Tarts Bowl when he let Cam Ward quit at the half.

This year the Canes had the #1 offense in the nation in both scoring and yards, but even with all that Mario could not lead this team to the ACC championship game forget about winning the ACC! Mario has been a head coach for 14 years and he’s only 8 games above .500! I think that’s what can be expected from Cristobal no matter how much talent is on the field! I have never seen a Miami Hurricanes defense play as bad as this years D! Many times players in the secondary were standing there watching to see if their teammates were going to finish the tackle! Whatever happened to gang tackling? IDK just so disappointing!
We've had 4-6 each of the last 3 years. About half have been UFAs. I don't know if we have any 4 stars, certainly no 5 stars. Terms of Campell's new contract extension haven't been released yet, but he was the 2nd highest paid State employee behind Kirk Ferentz HC at Iowa.
I haven't checked the stats but I've been following the program since 1982. I would think this season we had, at least since 1982, the best total offense and the best scoring offense and the worst defense and worst scoring defense. Which is absolutely insane.
1. Fire Guidry. Defense was bad all season long and no improvements made. 2. Emory is not the guy. Ceiling is 7-8 wins max with him next year. 3. Mario still can’t manage clock and consistently outcoached in close games. 4. Watch out for decommits after this disappointing end to the season.
FSU fan here. I’m not trolling but a lot of the players in the secondary on the defensive side of the ball are very young but talented. There’s also a lot of 5 ⭐️ DL talent that are freshman. Do Miami fans think the defense would be better with one more season of experience for the young guys or do they just want Guidry fired because of the disappointment of the season? Miami fans knew before the season that the secondary was going to be a problem
If you can't win Bowl games, your fans will always have a sour feeling that lingers. UM specializes in leaving their fans with a bad feeling each season. It has to stop.

It’s hard to tell, but the thing is all the confusion constantly on defense especially lining up correctly pre-snap and adjusting to motions and it’s just every week the other team’s coaches look like offensive geniuses. The players probably bear most of it being young and making mistakes. Truthfully Guidry would need better players to see what he really can do but that’s the same with every coach. Is Guidry like Manny that he needs to have a roster of elite talent to coach a defense to playing half decent. Manny looked good at Penn State. Guidry last year had better corners and an nfl safety and another fringe nfl safety and better D-Line and they weren’t all that. I think the most dissatisfied thing is whoever decided they had enough talent in the secondary last off season. As a Miami fan you want to think the secondary would have developed better under an elite SEC or BIG 10 program truthfully but who really knows. Patterson flashes but always made a lot of big mistakes during the year. I think we are guilty of expecting to much from so many young secondary players and really OJ Frédérique was the only bright spot. But he’s short and Syracuse exploited that easily. Miami just wants to feel confident in the DC like with a known commodity and with Guidry it’s the same story as always - not knowing and Miami wants a known DC or one elite recruits don’t have to question what their development will be like.

It feels like nothing like 2017. That team got blown out by Clemson and Wisconsin. This 2024 team didn't get blown out by anybody 3 losses by less then what 10 points combined. Emery is our guy they put him in think about how many throws he threw in the third quarter about three and then the fourth quarter we ran the ball and then they left them with 58 seconds and you expect a miracle be real think about it. He is good.
It was disappointing to see the D waning under pressure, no way the D C survives this debacle, come on Mario make the move. Thanks Chris for your awesome work, Cam did what he could all year. On to the league.
This is a historically bad UM defense. This is in the running for one of UM's worst ever. Only in the probation years when UM had lumited scholarships can I remember defenses like this.
Question: aside from poor defenses, what did the 3 losses have in common? Hint: same issue in losses to Wisconsin. The answer will require a bit of courage.
Not fair to blame Cam - he did not turn his back on his team. I’m convinced Cam and Mario agreed that Cam would come out at halftime to enable Williams to get some playing time on a big stage - kind of a changing of the guard. Mario had to give Williams the opportunity to get the win and having Cam come back in would not be wise under those circumstances. Lots of discussion has centered around whether Miami should go back to the portal for an experienced quarterback or let Emory (the senior scholarship backup) get his shot. Obviously, Emory looked like a deer in the headlights and does not look ready for prime time at this point. My guess is Mario will have to weigh heavily the value of bringing in another one year starter or let Emory, Anderson and Luke battle it out. Regarding the DC, my guess is Mario will have to make a change. We need a Mickey Andrew’s, Brent Vanables TYPE DC, IMO.
UM specializes in leaving its fans with a sour taste as each season ends because it can't win Bowl games. It's no way to treat a fan base. It has to stop.
My instant reaction is we need a new defensive coordinator thing I noticed about these players all year long as are running around like it’s a Chinese fire drill. They’re not set. They’re trying to communicate while the play is taking place. The cam ward situation if he made the call I don’t even understand why you even started the game and made me better. Go out in the transfer portal and grab a quarterback if they can that’s my instant reaction disappointed as usual.
We need a bridge QB to get us to Luke, get a new DC, revamp the D and we rocking again. The D line underachieved most of the year. No fire on D, played passive most of the year.
Nobody mentioning that Iowa States defense was just as bad. Miami ran the ball down their throat even when they knew it was coming. Anez Cooper was basically laughing at them and Cam was having his way with them. Not until UM lost QB play and became one dimensional, did Iowa St go ahead and it took them till the last seconds to go ahead. If Cam finishes the game, Miami wins.
Absolutely correct. You cannot load the box with Cam because he will pull the ball and carve you up with his arm. With Emory, you can load the box because you know he cannot throw like Cam. If Cam played the entire game, even without Restrepo, Miami outscores ISU and wins something like 49-42 but they really don't care so why do we?
I think that's why everyone is frustrated, we know we should have 11 wins, but it's always something that gets in the way of this program no matter how good they are.

No it is not a joke. As a matter of principle, you finish what you started. The problem is our program is championship or nothing, which at this point, is delusional since we have not even won a bowl game in 10 years! Cam and everyone knew our defense could not stop you and I from scoring, literally, and I have only an average arm. We could have won this bowl game if we cared to, but they didn't and many in our fan base are OK with that. YES, our defense is criminally bad, but we knew that coming in to this bowl game and that certainly was not going to change so a team that cares, factors this into their decision making. This team no longer knows how to win and that is a cultural issue. Our culture is rotten.

Big problems with EW. Looks lost and like taking first snaps at quarterback. No reason to lose with the running game in the second half moving with little resistance. Even so so play wins the game. Sorry that his audition for next year was terrible . Must find a transfer quarterback for the fall. No reason to believe he should compete for the starting job. I am not sure he is good enough to be the backup quarterback either. An amazing contrast of play with Cam Ward in the first half.
We do not have a stud defense tackles,but coaching is terrible. Guys out of position, communication issues. Whats very very disturbing Jason Taylor is a big part of this team. Mario has lost overall control of this team. Wild Wild West , guys and coaches do have respect for Mario….

We lost 3 games by a combined 10 points. This team didn't need an elite defense, just average would have made all the difference.

FSU fan here. I’m not trolling but a lot of the players in the secondary on the defensive side of the ball are very young but talented. There’s also a lot of 5 ⭐️ DL talent that are freshman. Do Miami fans think the defense would be better with one more season of experience for the young guys or do they just want Guidry fired because of the disappointment of the season? Miami fans knew before the season that the secondary was going to be a problem
You are probably over valuing the young talent in the secondary. There were 2 talented freshmen back there, but that was it.
If you can't win Bowl games, your fans will always have a sour feeling that lingers. UM specializes in leaving their fans with a bad feeling each season. It has to stop.

It’s hard to tell, but the thing is all the confusion constantly on defense especially lining up correctly pre-snap and adjusting to motions and it’s just every week the other team’s coaches look like offensive geniuses.
The players probably bear most of it being young and making mistakes. Truthfully Guidry would need better players to see what he really can do but that’s the same with every coach. Is Guidry like Manny that he needs to have a roster of elite talent to coach a defense to playing half decent. Manny looked good at Penn State. Guidry last year had better corners and an nfl safety and another fringe nfl safety and better D-Line and they weren’t all that.
I think the most dissatisfied thing is whoever decided they had enough talent in the secondary last off season. As a Miami fan you want to think the secondary would have developed better under an elite SEC or BIG 10 program truthfully but who really knows. Patterson flashes but always made a lot of big mistakes during the year. I think we are guilty of expecting to much from so many young secondary players and really OJ Frédérique was the only bright spot. But he’s short and Syracuse exploited that easily. Miami just wants to feel confident in the DC like with a known commodity and with Guidry it’s the same story as always - not knowing and Miami wants a known DC or one elite recruits don’t have to question what their development will be like.

I have no issue with Cam not playing the 2nd half. He did a good enough job to get us a win.

He's worse than Manny Diaz as a coach and has a worst record in the ACC . the guy is a total waste of money and they gave him more money than they've given any other coach in the program's history.

It feels like nothing like 2017. That team got blown out by Clemson and Wisconsin. This 2024 team didn't get blown out by anybody 3 losses by less then what 10 points combined. That 3rd loss they didn't care about the bowl game once Cam was pulled by halftime. Hey Chris can we do something about ur voice? Toughen it up or something? My ears bleed from screeching

Emery is our guy they put him in think about how many throws he threw in the third quarter about three and then the fourth quarter we ran the ball and then they left them with 58 seconds and you expect a miracle be real think about it. He is good.

This is a historically bad UM defense. This is in the running for one of UM's worst ever. Only in the probation years when UM had lumited scholarships can I remember defenses like this.
All I can say is Miami is gonna be a nice sized under dog against the Irish when they play the first game.
Question: aside from poor defenses, what did the 3 losses have in common? Hint: same issue in losses to Wisconsin. The answer will require a bit of courage.
Not fair to blame Cam - he did not turn his back on his team. I’m convinced Cam and Mario agreed that Cam would come out at halftime to enable Williams to get some playing time on a big stage - kind of a changing of the guard. Mario had to give Williams the opportunity to get the win and having Cam come back in would not be wise under those circumstances. Lots of discussion has centered around whether Miami should go back to the portal for an experienced quarterback or let Emory (the senior scholarship backup) get his shot. Obviously, Emory looked like a deer in the headlights and does not look ready for prime time at this point. My guess is Mario will have to weigh heavily the value of bringing in another one year starter or let Emory, Anderson and Luke battle it out. Regarding the DC, my guess is Mario will have to make a change. We need a Mickey Andrew’s, Brent Vanables TYPE DC, IMO.
Finally a comment that makes sense. Now we all know Emory is not the answer for next season. Better to know now instead of the spring game.

My instant reaction is we need a new defensive coordinator thing I noticed about these players all year long as are running around like it’s a Chinese fire drill. They’re not set. They’re trying to communicate while the play is taking place. The cam ward situation if he made the call I don’t even understand why you even started the game and made me better. Go out in the transfer portal and grab a quarterback if they can that’s my instant reaction disappointed as usual.

We need a bridge QB to get us to Luke, get a new DC, revamp the D and we rocking again. The D line underachieved most of the year. No fire on D, played passive most of the year.
Nobody mentioning that Iowa States defense was just as bad. Miami ran the ball down their throat even when they knew it was coming. Anez Cooper was basically laughing at them and Cam was having his way with them. Not until UM lost QB play and became one dimensional, did Iowa St go ahead and it took them till the last seconds to go ahead.
If Cam finishes the game, Miami wins.
Absolutely correct. You cannot load the box with Cam because he will pull the ball and carve you up with his arm. With Emory, you can load the box because you know he cannot throw like Cam. If Cam played the entire game, even without Restrepo, Miami outscores ISU and wins something like 49-42 but they really don't care so why do we?
I think that's why everyone is frustrated, we know we should have 11 wins, but it's always something that gets in the way of this program no matter how good they are.

No it is not a joke. As a matter of principle, you finish what you started. The problem is our program is championship or nothing, which at this point, is delusional since we have not even won a bowl game in 10 years! Cam and everyone knew our defense could not stop you and I from scoring, literally, and I have only an average arm. We could have won this bowl game if we cared to, but they didn't and many in our fan base are OK with that. YES, our defense is criminally bad, but we knew that coming in to this bowl game and that certainly was not going to change so a team that cares, factors this into their decision making. This team no longer knows how to win and that is a cultural issue. Our culture is rotten.

How many things can we say, best offense in the Nation, with a first Round QB, wasted!!!!, a defense that no matter what we claim , it’s Fireable, We saw what our Offense will look like without Cam, Dawson will run a very conservative offense, handing the ball over, Lofton offensively has the capacity to impact our team , but rarely touches the ball 🏈, I’m not sold on Dawson, I think it was more Cam than him, we have more talent than most team, How do run for 176 and score 41?, and lose a game , garbage defense!!!,,Fans have the right to be disappointed, and well next year tough schedule, very uncertain future!, if Guidry is not let go , with the defense, I don’t know who’s holding accountable who here, Go Canes!

Big problems with EW. Looks lost and like taking first snaps at quarterback. No reason to lose with the running game in the second half moving with little resistance. Even so so play wins the game. Sorry that his audition for next year was terrible . Must find a transfer quarterback for the fall. No reason to believe he should compete for the starting job. I am not sure he is good enough to be the backup quarterback either. An amazing contrast of play with Cam Ward in the first half.
