- Before the family of the late group CEO of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe concluded plans to lay the banking whizkid, his wife, and first son to rest. They made a shocking revelation that the City of David Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), where the family worshipped, were banned and not involved in the burial rites. To make matters worse, reports have it that the pastor-in-charge of the influential parish, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade and his wife, Siju Iluyomade, were also banned from attending the burial ceremony by the Wigwe family.
While Herbert was still alive, he and his family were active City of David parish members. They not only spent billions in the church but also supported it with millions-dollar projects, looked after its members, and gave interest-free loans.
Sadly, after the banker's sudden and tragic death alongside his wife and first son while on their way to Las Vegas, US, to watch the Super Bowl game. Naturally, one would expect that the spiritual father and mother to the deceased will go into mourning for losing not one but three members in one day. Unfortunately, they did the complete opposite.
Exactly nine days after the tragic accident, Siju Iluyomade, the pastor's wife, painted the town red with a lavish pre-planned party to celebrate her 60th birthday. Besides hosting the rich, famous, and royalty, the high-society birthday bash also had Flavour N’abania perform, where he was captured serenading the one and only “Siju baby” on the dance floor.
Of course, clips from the flamboyant event immediately got people talking, and many criticised the pastor and his wife for their lack of empathy towards their friends and family members who passed tragically. However, some argue that the pastor’s wife did the right thing because she only celebrated her 60th birthday once, and a diamond jubilee is such a significant milestone in Life.
Sadly, Herbert Wigwe’s family sees their tragic loss as a heavy one that needs to stop all celebrations. How deep was their relationship? How much did Hertber Wigwe invest in the church, and why did his family decide to take such action against the pastor and church?

@@iniilulu4331 I lost my mom at 22,lost my husband at 26,lost my inlaw 3 years the same day my husband was buried,4 years later my father passed,the church abandoned me and in 2022 my Ssister who was living with me died in my hands,took her last breath in my hands,why I was in the hospital I called my leader and assistant pastor in tears,nobody came to the hospital or called me.
I buried my sister and went to church months after my sister's burial,at the gate the assistant pastor saw and said,oh I remembered you this morning.I smiled and walked passed him.
Months later because I had spent all I had on my sister's treatment and lost all my business,on a Sunday morning my kids and I were kick out of our house by our landlord.We went to church.I spoke to our pastor to assist us so I can pay our rent,but they sent the security man to throw my kids and I out of the church later that evening,we had nowhere to go.
This is a church that I was giving in hundreds of thousands,millions,both tithes,offering:,building projects, pastor and pastor's wife's birthday,etc and when I fell to this point nobody could come to my rescue.

Made her spend all her money made from her fashion business on him and his wife, paying tithes every week. Eventually my friend fell terribly sick and they could not give 1k to buy drugs but asked her to go to her people to take care of her in the village

A real Pastor's wife is supposed to be modest irrespective of the unfortunate incident that happened. It was obvious that the Pastor and his wife were in competition with the Wigwe's and her incensitive celebration of a birthday was for the down fall of the Wigwe's. It is now obvious why such a tragic incident can befall the Wigwe's family under the watch of such a materialistic jealous Pastor and his wife. Lets be mindful of the type of Church we attend. Christ Jesus says it is by love demonstrated that men will know we are His disciples.....in my opinion, if the birthday celebration didn't take place in January when she actually clocked 60, it could have also still waited until a reasonable period after the burial of 3 loved ones who passed on under such tragic circumstances. The one who is mourning, truly mourning, will find it hard to celebrate with such pomp and pageantry. It doesn't demonstrate the love of Christ. This is my opinion. I dont think Christ Jesus would have done this that was done. Despite the betrayal of Judas Iscariot, there was no haste to replace him. It took a while before he was replaced.....how much more the passing of three said to be 'loved ones' and it appears they weren't mourned by the very family extension that should be mourning them the most. Siju wouldn't have thrown a party if her husband or son had died, she wouldn't have gone ahead with the birthday because that would be the loss of a family member. She said that I can't compare the loss of a family member to Wigwe, his wife and child who were JUST church members!!! Imagine!!!

His membership of RCCg and all of his contributions and the many things he did for the church and immense genrosity deserve respect, honor, and dignity by celebrating his life and standing with the family in their loss. I can now understand that some of the monies used for the birthday party may have been from the N1b the late wigwe gave from the bank to the church at interest free rate. It's well. Lessons learnt is that let the holy spirit lead you in anything you do in God's house and not the pastor. If it's God leading, your reward is sure. When 3 human beings that are members of your congregation died tragically whether financial contributors or not, as a sign of respect, any celebrations should be postponed. How about if it was her family? If she postponed her party or cancelled it because it’s family, then this is bias which is unchristianly. Yes the overseer has done the right thing to ask them to step down. Yes it is 100% in order for the WIGWE FAMILY TO EXCLUDE THEM FROM EVERYTHING CONCERNING FUNERAL OF DR WIGWE BECAUSE THEY HAD MADE THEIR POSITION CLEAR BY HAVING A LAVISH PARTY. THIS WAS AN EXCELLENT WELL THOUGHT OUT STEP TAKEN BY THE WIGWE FAMILY. PEOPLE SHOULD STOP GIVING HUMANS THE YARD STICK FOR INSULTS IN THE NAME OF RELIGION OR CHRISTIANITY. PEOPLE SHOULD LEARN TO DISSOCIATE FROM EVERYTHING THAT IS WRONG
I quite agree with Daddy Freeze.Pastor Siju should just have postponed the party. Apart from that, the husband is a weakling, you can tell Siju is in charge in that marriage, why wouldn’t you the man stand your ground for the postponement of the party, after all,one or two of Wigwe’s family members will still attend the party if it was postponed. But, what they did now showed how insensitive they were towards this family, that gave a tremendous support to the City of David. You know what? I love this man because he invested Nigerians money in Nigeria to build a university, not like those useless people that will go and build other countries with our money.Wigwe is our hero.
